Chapter 6 - Establish the Ranking (part 2)
At the moment when all the children were thinking out loud and comparing their respective strengths to Songlan, a small snide laughter sounded from the middle of the group of children.
“Only that and you're already proud?” a line of ridicule was heard following his cynical laughter.
Shortly after, a young boy came out of the group and was seen cupping his palms. It looks like you're warming up to do something.
“I'm Empty Three, call me Koga. I will show you, what is called power,” Koga said as he stepped forward of the Strength Meter machine without glancing at or seeking approval from the Strength Coach.
Strength was just a small smile behind his mask, this was the effect he wanted to have by letting the children choose their own order to perform their strength tests. Divide them and give rise to the seeds of competition among them.
Tests for the IC or Intelligence category are conducted in the classroom and together. Competition exists, but all are still in the same umbrella. But during a Physical Attribute test like this, the boys would start to show their true nature.
In the end, their egos will arise and there will be competition and discord between the Candidates. Strength Trainers understand the psychological truth about this. Gaju also began to realize the intentions of his Coach.
At the beginning, Gaju was grateful when the test sequence was done based on individual initiative, not determined by the Coach. But now, when Gaju realizes the true purpose of the Coach doing that, Gaju shudders in horror.
There is nothing to believe in on the island. You’re on your own.
Gaju clenched his jaws hard and swore in his heart, “I will do anything to survive. Whatever.”
The boy who called himself Koga took a deep breath and smiled slightly, after which he swung his punch with all his might towards the Strength Meter.

A louder sound than Songlan's punch was heard throughout the training field. The other children were stunned when they heard it. Shortly thereafter, a small beep was heard from the machine and a number was seen on the top screen of the machine.
115 kg.
Whoaaahhhhhhhhh.
A voice of admiration and surprise was heard instantly from all the children who saw the figure. Now, a monster had appeared between them. A monster with a punch strength exceeding the 100kg limit, a monster named Koga.
Koga glanced at Songlan whose face was slightly pale when he saw the results of the Koga test. With a smile full of provocation, Koga sneered towards Songlan without a word. The three Coaches standing in front of the group of children looked at each other and nodded their heads when they saw the interaction between Koga and Songlan.
This is what they want.
Soon, one by one the Candidates came forward and tried to hit with all their abilities. But no one can beat Koga's record. He was now the Candidate with the strongest punch on the Island.
When the Strength test has ended, some of the children immediately move closer to Koga and try to become his friend. They are seen trying their hardest to try to be accepted in Koga's circle of friends. Just like some children who had previously attempted to get close to Three Eight because he was the highest scorer for the Intelligence category.
And Gaju remains at his initial choice, surviving on his own merits, without relying on anyone.
Gaju's own strength test results are also below average, not because he deliberately hid his ability. But because he realized that he did not have physical advantages such as Koga or Songlan.
So even though Gaju had already hit as hard as he could, a number that was far below Koga and Songlan appeared on the machine. The numbers made Gaju realize his own weakness.
70 kg.
“I was weak,” one sentence appeared in Gaju's head, a sentence that made him want to immediately do something to change that condition.
After that, the Speed and Agility tests are done by different Coaches. For the speed test, it is done in the training field and each Candidate is told to run as hard as possible. The maximum speed gained will be recorded and converted into value points.
For the Speed test itself, the Program determines that 1 m/s is proportional to the value of 0.1 point. The children had an average yield of between 7 m/s to 8 m/s. The average ability possessed by adult humans in general. Usain Bolt, the fastest man on earth, only has a maximum speed of 10.02 m/s. Had he come to the Island, he would have only obtained a score of 1 point.
Agility tests are different from Strength or Speed tests. The children were taken to a test room in the laboratory. Lab located to the right of Classroom. A semicircular room and many holes throughout its walls are used to perform Agility tests.
The children were then told to enter the room and stand in the middle of the room. After the test, small balls made of rubber will be fired at the children and they are expected to avoid them.
When the first ball hits the Candidate's body, the test is stopped. The length of time he survives in the Agility test room which will be used as a benchmark for the Candidate's agility value. At the beginning of the test, the ball will only be fired from the front and at a slow speed, as time goes by, the speed of the ball increases.
When it came to the specified time limit, the ball would also be fired from the direction that became the blind spot of the Candidate, but none of the Candidates reached that stage. For this agility test, it can be said that all Candidates have a bad result.
The program has converted and determined that the duration of 10 seconds is used as a reference point of 0.1 points for agility tests. And most Candidates were only able to survive less than a minute in the test agility room. Including even Koga who has the strongest punching power among all Candidates.
Gaju looks tired after a day of doing five tests to get the results of his attributes. Two tests for Intelligence and three tests for Physical. After a day of this test with all the other Candidates, one question appeared in Gaju's head, why was the Knowledge test done separately yesterday?
A question that Gaju may never answer.
All the children returned to their respective dormitories. They've done whatever they can. Now the results await the results they get.
As Gaju was staring at the ceiling of his room and thinking what he could do to improve his abilities, a rowdy sound came from the room to his left. The boisterous sound that might come from room Three Eight, the girl who became the highest scorer for the Knowledge subcategory.
Gaju only turned his head at a glance but had absolutely no intention of seeing what happened. He had absolutely no interest in meddling with the affairs of others. Gaju was quite dizzy with his own chances of survival, he had no time to think about anything else.
