Chapter 25 - The Leaf Snake

Beep beep beep.

"Shirt, wake!!" tian whispered softly but his face turned red instantly.

Last night, didn't I hit Gaju? How is the position reversed now? inner Tian.

"Ehmm," Gaju opened his eyes and he realized that he was hugging Tian.

Gaju awkwardly took off his embrace. Luckily, the condition of Goa is a bit dark. Just a little morning light came in from the mouth of the cave. So the two of them could not see each other's faces.

But it's still early, why did Tian wake me up? batin Gaju's.

"A tangled-up perimeter alarm sounds. Someone is approaching this place" whispered Tian.

"Okay, you're here, I'll see it out" replied Gaju and stood up.

"No, I'm coming" Tian replied, he promised to follow Gaju.

Gaju fell silent and did not answer, then he slipped out. Tian followed him from behind, Gaju knew from the sound of Tian's footsteps but he let it go.

"That alarm is set off in the Northwest" whispered Tian.

"But that's right from the cliff next to the waterfall?" reply Gaju after thinking for a while.

"I don't know, but my mini-computer gives such feedback," Tian replied, he was honest about it, as he was also curious about what hit the alarm.

"OK," said Gaju slowly.

After that two shadows move from behind the waterfall and hide from one place to another.

They use the natural conditions around them to jump when hiding themselves. Big rocks, big trees, fallen trees and shrubs. It was as if the two of them had already memorized once with the conditions around this place.

Before long, they arrived at the location where the alarm set by Tian was triggered. And when they got to that place, they were stunned.

A little girl was in a basket befell a little boy below her. They both seemed to fall from a 5-meter-high cliff next to the waterfall.

The boy groaned in pain and was seen complaining. While the little girl cueknya eat the fruit in the basket and have no intention to help his partner.

They are Aju and Adel.

Adel snorted, "okay, fine. I'm the No 2 Strategist on the Island. So know very well if you just use no more than 20% of your strength, so do not try to pretend tired huh?"

They camped near the river but not at ground level. Adel told Aju to climb the tree as high as possible and rest there.

Aju knows Adel's reason. No matter how strong he is, he will not be able to fight a herd of wild animals that like to hunt at night and the safest way to avoid it is to climb a tree for the night.

But, just before morning, Adel suddenly shouted loudly and woke Aju who was still asleep.

"Dark!!!! Leaf Snake!!"

Aju opened her eyes. In front of them a plain green and shiny snake stared at the two boys with the gaze of a predator on its prey.

Leaf Snakes are not a very large snake. The diameter of the body is only sized like a pipe 3" or 88.89 mm only. Not up to 10 cm. But Adel and Aju knew that the Leaf Snake was that big, capable of swallowing them round and round.

"Adel, Analyze!" said Aju quietly and her hand reached out to a knife made of metal and hung on her waist.

Aju found the piece of metal on the river bank and made a simple knife to keep himself safe.

Adel looked around him quickly and found some objects that could be used to save them from the present situation.

Shortly afterwards, Adel said slowly towards Aju, "the greatest opportunity, we jump down from this tree by using tendrils that propagate on the tree trunk to dampen our speed."

"Snake Leaves have an amazing ability to climb trees but he has little trouble descending vertically. All he could do was paragliding. So the possibility of where he landed will be much different from us. Or he'll come down by jumping zig zag from tree to tree."

Adel gave his analysis to Aju.

Aju listened carefully, "risk and unknown factor?" ask the Aju.

"The risk, the largest, of our body mass exceeds the maximum weight that the tendril can withstand. We are falling at full speed. Die."

"Unknown factors, contours and terrain that are below us. Last night while searching for this tree we moved from tree to tree. I don't have enough information about the ground below us."

Adel and Aju are the most effective fighter-strategist couple on the Island. Many people have guessed that, but when watching the daily lives of the two of them, no one would have thought that they could work together as effectively as today.

"Three," said Aju quietly and she grabbed the basket where Adel was.

"29 degrees to the right" said Adel.

Aju jumped in the direction that Adel pointed out and grabbed the vines that were there with his right hand.

Aju uses her left hand to hold the basket containing Adel. While Adel himself is flat-faced and without expression. His eyes moved around them like a camera scanner recording everything around him.

The Leaf Snake leaped towards Adel and Aju who descended using tendrils. The Snake misses and hits the tree branch behind Aju. The Leaf Snake twisted its body into the tree and went back to eyeing Aju and Adel who continued to slump down.

"Attribute!" call Aju because the tendrils he holds look no longer strong to hold the weight of the two of them.

"38 degrees to the left" said Adel.

Aju clenched her jaw and jumped up using the tree trunk as a repulsion of her legs. He jumped in the direction Adel told him and grabbed the largest vine there.

Soon the Leaf Snake jumped from tree to tree with the zig zag following Aju and Adel moving down.

But suddenly, Adel was shocked when he saw that the tree where they slid down turned out to grow on the cliff.

And the next second they both fell to the bottom of the cliff with Aju position overwritten by Adel.

But, Adel saw something that caught his attention. A fine thread is put on a twig and at the end of the twig a small tool is put there.

Adel smiled, only one person he knew was always everywhere carrying such a versatile transmitter.
