Chapter 4 - Day - Day - 61

Gaju was in his dormitory room when the watch he was wearing rang. The watch also serves as a mini computer and communication tool on the island. All Candidates and Managers on the Island have them.

Gaju opened the results of the written test and found his name in the top ten. The highest rank is obtained by a girl with the number Three Eight. Dormitory dwellers on the left of Gaju.

Gaju then looked at the results of the test in detail and his ranking, when he found that it turned out that the score of Three Eight was only five points adrift with him, Gaju immediately held his chest which was almost in shock due to relief.

Last afternoon, during the test, Gaju was worried about how many questions he had to answer wrongly. Gaju does not know the standard standard standard benchmark for other Candidates, therefore before deciding to answer 10 questions incorrectly, Gaju had considered 5 questions only.

But if he does that, it is not the Three Eight who are now the highest scorers for the ‘knowledge’ test but Gaju. And if Gaju answers all the questions correctly, he can't imagine what the other Candidates will do to him.

Gaju is now aware of how the normal range of numbers for his friends after this first test. Gaju knows that all options have their advantages and disadvantages. The decision he made during the test was impulsive for a moment, but at lunch in Canteen, Gaju rethought it and was grateful that he made the decision.

Gaju will do the same for every test he takes.

In the early days of living life on the Island, the Management has firmly said how important it is to be the best in everything. Whether in terms of knowledge or in terms of any physical ability.

Some tests will be done regularly every two months. Each of these tests will be conducted to find out how far each Candidate has progressed in receiving and conducting training on the Island.

This ‘Knowledge’ test is the first test that falls into the category of ‘Intelligence’ or brain intelligence. There are two other sub-tests categorized in Intelligence by the Program, Analytical Thinking and Memory Capability.

These three sub-tests will be used by the Manager to determine an objective assessment system called Intelligence Capability or abbreviated IC by the Manager.

In addition to conducting brain intelligence assessments, the ‘Lone Wolf’ Program planned by the Professor will also conduct assessments of the physical abilities of Candidates. This physical ability will later fall into the category of Physical Attribute and abbreviated as PA. Sub tests under PA are divided into three, namely Strength, Agility and Speed.

From the very beginning, the Managers have told the Candidates to do their best every time they are given the opportunity and to use their time as best as possible to improve their abilities.

Each evaluation phase is carried out every two months, 5 candidates with the best value for cumulative IC and PA will get a genetic serum injection that will help them in evolving.

Serum Brain Enhancement is used to improve the ability of brain performance for its users. This serum will be given to the winner of the highest score for the category of brain intelligence. And the second serum called Muscle Enhancement is used to improve the performance of the body for the highest scorer category Physical Attribute.

The development path for each Candidate has also been described by the Management. Candidates are asked to focus on one of the types of abilities they master. For Candidates who have brain intelligence as their main attribute they are advised to take the path as a Strategist, while for Candidates who have advantages in the physical field, of course, become a Fighter.

Gaju also rejected suggestions from the Management to focus on a pathway of enhancement. Choose between being a strategist or a Fighter. With the advantages it has, Gaju actually chose to work extra hard to improve his physical abilities.

He wanted to become a Fighter, but also a strategist.

Day-61

The day after the ‘Knowledge’ test was done, as usual, Gaju walked towards the classroom as usual. This classroom is in the main building of their Complex. Gaju had to walk through the corridor leading to Canteen and continue westward to get to the building.

Some people that Gaju did not know tried to approach him and congratulate him because he had managed to get into the top ten for the test yesterday. Gaju just smiled without saying a word, but in his heart, he promised to answer more wrong questions in the next test.

Arriving in the classroom, Gaju sees a girl who is surrounded by other little girls. There were a few boys around the small group as well. Gaju saw a beautiful face that he had always seen from far away.

During the two months of arriving on the Island and undergoing the Program, Gaju never said a word to the girl who is now surrounded by his friends.

Gaju chose to sit on an empty chair that was a bit far from his friends. Gaju calmly opened his book of knowledge and waited for Master to come teach them. Although all of that is just a pretense for Gaju.

How eager he was to run from this room and train his body on the edge of the forest or the beach there. Getting sweat and strengthening his physique. He doesn't need all the bullshit taught in this class. Because Gaju had even remembered all the pages of the book of knowledge in his hands.

The teacher entered the classroom and wore a mask as usual. He did not immediately start his lesson but waved his hand and a 3-dimensional hologram screen lit up in front of the class.

Inside the screen are the names of all Candidates sorted by the results of yesterday's test. And all the children in the room were silent for a moment. They looked seriously at the Master and the screen.

“After this, we will hold a Memory Test and Analytical Test. The highest cumulative score for all tests will get the BE (Brain Enhancement) genetic serum. This serum will increase your brain ability by 0.1 point each time used,” Master's voice breaks the silence in the classroom.

“It feels small, but if you continue to be the highest scorer and get that genetic serum in a row, in a matter of years, your abilities will be different like heaven and earth compared to your other colleagues,” continued the Master who was greeted quietly by the children in the classroom.
