Kiran looked at Chandana who looked exhausted. Although there were still many stairs waiting to be climbed, Kiran had no intention of making Chandana push herself in a hurry. He can't wait to show Chandana the beautiful place up there. But that does not mean he will make Chandana faint on the umpteenth step of the ladder just because it forces a tired girl.
"Capek huh?" Kiran smiled as she extended her hand.
Chandana grabs Kiran's helping hand with one hand while the other still circles the stomach, "Lumayan."
Joining hands, Chandana and Kiran climbed one by one the steps slowly but surely. Kiran had regretted choosing to go through the emergency stairs instead of the elevator that is available on each floor. He should have taken Chandana up to the highest floor by using a new elevator then passing the stairs to get to the rooftop. But what can be done, Kiran realized too late so now they both have to fight with the stairs and physical conditions are tired.
For a dozen minutes shoulder to shoulder to shoulder towards the place they were about to go, Kiran breathed a sigh of relief while smiling when she saw Chandana's amazed face seeing what was presented in front of them shortly after the two managed to reach the rooftop door of the tall building.
With hesitation, Chandana stepped forward. He almost shed tears at how beautiful the scenery was in front of them. Chandana never imagined that the view of the city where she lived for a dozen years would look as beautiful and beautiful as this at night. He smiled then turned to Kiran who was apparently still standing looking at him at the doorway where they ended their suffering and fatigue after climbing hundreds of stairs earlier.
Kiran nodded, as if gesturing for Chandana to go further and see the scene before her more clearly.
Still amazed, Chandana stepped hesitantly towards the iron barrier that stretched tens of meters on the roof of this tall building. He smiled with a drop of tears as the wind hit his slender hair and body, stunned by how beautiful his world had been all along.
Kiran walked closer to Chandana. The most beautiful sight in Kiran's life is watching the girl he loves standing on the roof of the building with the glittering lights that stretch tens of kilometers in front of them. The best thing about this scene is the fact that for Kiran, Chandana actually looks much brighter than any lamp because the light emitted by the girl is not the light that will illuminate the house, the building, and the building, a walk, or a shop. But the light that gives light and warmth in one's heart, in Kiran's heart.
"Beautiful?" kiran asked shortly after she stood right next to Chandana.
With a big smile showing her white, tidy teeth, Chandana almost shivered, "It's so beautiful."
"How can you find a place like this?" Chandana did not take the slightest look away from the sight of the city lights and tall buildings that lay in front of him.
Kiran exhaled, she felt a little uneasy as she said, "This is my father's office building."
Chandana chuckled as she looked at the unpleasant expression engraved on Kiran's face. Chandana knew Kiran instead of deliberately bragging, just that the man was too honest not to tell the truth.
"Maybe you want to look at the other side?" Kiran pointed to the concrete roof on the left of the building that extends three meters in front of the iron barrier.
Chandana nodded slowly then walked following Kiran who had stepped first. Upon their arrival at the iron barrier, Kiran reached out her hand to help Chandana jump over the passage.
Feeling doubtful, Chandana did not immediately grab Kiran's hand. He doubted that they would be okay sitting there? Wouldn't it collapse and overwrite what's beneath them?
As if realizing what Chandana was thinking, Kiran smiled soothingly, "Nothing. It's secure. There is me anyway. I won't let you fall."
Still with a hint of fear, Chandana reached for Kiran's hand and then jumped across the iron barrier. Kiran guided Chandana a little further and then removed and rolled out her sweater on this cold concrete roof as a seat for the girl. After playing around on the trampoline rides, they again wore school uniforms so Kiran knew very well that with a short knee-length skirt, Chandana might feel uncomfortable if her skin had to intersect with a concrete roof cold and rough.
Kiran sat down cross-legged followed by Chandana who then said, "Thank you," softly.
Lucky for Chandana because she always wears shortpants every time she wears a school skirt. Now he does not need to worry if at any time the wind flutters his skirt.
"What do you hate the most?" Kiran asked Chandana.
The thing Kiran wanted to do the most right now was get to know Chandana more closely. Understand and understand all about the girl considering herself very lay and minimal information about Chandana so far.
"I hate the crowd. I hate places where there are a lot of people, especially men," Chandana rubbed her palms. He felt cold.
"What books do you read most often?" Kiran took off her backpack and pulled out her hoodie from inside.
"Wear this so that you don't get cold" Kiran continued while thrusting her hoodie at Chandana.
Chandana shook her head softly, "You alone. At least I'm wearing a cardigan, aren't you cold with just a uniform?"
Regardless of Chandana's words, Kiran moved forward and spread out her hoodie to cover the girl's body. He made sure Chandana's body was covered so perfectly that the night breeze wouldn't make her feel any colder, "I'm fine."
Chandana smiled faintly, "Thank you, Kiran," he said as he put his hand into Kiran's hoodie arm.
"I love books about love. I thought that in this life I would never love and be loved by someone. So I read a book about love because I wanted to know what and how love is for other people" Chandana looked straight ahead while playing her fingers wrapped in hoodies.
Kiran nodded, "I think you like philosophy and history books. Then why did you borrow a philosophy book in the school library and donate a history book in the public library?"
Chandana shrugged, "I don't really remember why."
"Although my guess turned out to be wrong at least with that I became curious half to die with you," Kiran clenched her hands together in front of her lips while blowing air to make her feel warmer.
"You don't feel disappointed? Isn't that why you like me?" Chandana looked at Kiran who was trying to warm herself.
Kiran turned to Chandana, "The book made me feel curious and wanted to make friends with you. I don't like you because of the book" he explains.
"Then why do you like me?" chandana asked as she grabbed Kiran's wrist hesitantly.
Kiran looked at Chandana's hand grabbing hers, then rubbed Kiran's hand very gently, trying to share the warmth.
Kiran wants to make Chandana understand how big the feelings in Kiran's heart are for her.
Chandana threw away her face. The link of their hands slipped off as Chandana looked straight ahead again, "What is your biggest fear?"
Although feeling a little sad because Chandana did not respond to the statement she said earlier, Kiran tried to stay calm and normal, "Hurt the people around me. I was always full of worries and problems. I'm just afraid if it all makes the people closest to me have to feel similar just because they're worried or want to help me."
"What is the happiest thing to you?" now it was Kiran's turn to ask.
Chandana was silent for a moment, as if she was thinking about something. After being overwhelmed with silence for almost half a minute, Chandana replied, "My childhood. When I was a kid, my mom and dad always loved me. They regularly take me to the beach, to the zoo, or to a good place to eat. Whatever we did together when we were kids always made me feel good even just by remembering it. In the past, only armed with that memory can I survive well every time I find difficulty," explained Chandana.
Kiran does not understand what the implicit meaning behind Chandana's story is. But surely Kiran can clearly see the look of the girl's hurt face when she mentions her childhood.
"Why just childhood? I mean, spend your time with your parents," Kiran asked once again. Now he is trying to understand Chandana's story completely instead of half-and-half.
Chandana is silent again. He seems to be very selective and considerate whenever he wants to share his story with Kiran. Kiran was honestly a little disappointed because Chandana still could not believe Kiran completely when the man had trusted and almost told Chandana everything about himself.
But Kiran still did not want to be rash. He knows how hard and difficult it is to open his heart and self for the sake of others. He knew it wasn't easy for Chandana to tell him everything. Despite the sadness and disappointment, Kiran will still try to be patient. He will wait patiently for Chandana until the girl fully trusts Kiran, completely loving Kiran as Kiran feels for her.
After a long thought, Chandana replied in a soft voice, "My mother died a few years ago. When he died, both my father and I were under a lot of pressure. I thought things would improve after that, but not at all."
Kiran swallowed her saliva with great difficulty. Guilt overwhelmed his heart and mind. He did not dare to ask any more questions, he did not want to make Chandana scrape more old wounds.
Kiran grabbed Chandana's wrist then whispered softly, "I'm sorry. I don't mean to make you sad by remembering that painful past."
Chandana turned to Kiran with teary eyes, "Nothing. After all it's only natural that you feel curious and want to know more about me."
"When I was in elementary school playing a drama about princesses and princes," Chandana glanced at Kiran who was seen looking at her closely as she played Chandana's fingers, as if she didn't want to let go of the item for a second.
"You're his daughter?" Kiran asked.
Chandana smiled as she shook her head, "I'm a pumpkin."
Kiran chuckled, "It's really good for you!" his sudden exclamation invited Chandana's laughter.
Satisfied with laughing, Chandana continued, "I was originally envious of not being able to be a princess. I would love to play that role but what I get is the role of a pumpkin that just stands on set whenever princes and princesses do scenes and dialogue. But, from the place where I stood as a pumpkin, I saw someone so attractive on the bleachers. Someone who made me couldn't stop looking at him for a second. A very cheerful person with a smile that never dates from his lips."
Kiran raised her eyebrows, "Who is she? Your teacher?"
"No. He's a boy at my school" whispered Chandana with a timid face.
Somehow Kiran felt her heart crumpled at Chandana's words. Although it happened many years ago, but somehow Kiran feels Chandana still has something for this boy she told. Kiran realized it from how Chandana told her, from how the happy and happy expression that was engraved on Chandana's face when talking about the boy. With annoyance and annoyance shackling his heart and mind, Kiran released the link of their wrist. He still looked at Chandana, waiting for the end of Chandana and the boy.
"So then I thought, if only I had been a princess, maybe I wouldn't have stood there, in that pumpkin position. And if I don't stand in that position, then I won't find the boy. I won't see her bright smile and cheerful face" Chandana looked at Kiran.
"That's all?" Kiran asked. What kind of story is that?
Chandana.
"I think something will happen, whether you meet again in Junior High or something. Huft, thankfully it was just my shadow," Kiran breathed a sigh of relief. It turned out that the boy was indeed just a boy who no longer needed to worry about his existence.
Kiran glanced at Chandana once again, "So, do you love me Chandana?"
Chandana just looked down. He did not answer or react. Just like the last time Kiran asked me the same thing.
To be honest, for a person full of insecurity like Kiran, hearing things frankly will be more soothing than giving uncertain cues. People with a high level of worry tend to speculate more easily on anything they think is uncertain.
Even so, Kiran still tries to think positively and try to understand Chandana. If this question made Chandana feel as sad and confused as she is today, she would rather keep quiet and second-guess the rest of her life than make Chandana feel uncomfortable and leave.
Carefully, Kiran cupped Chandana's cheeks and then directed the girl's face to look at her, "I'm sorry, Chandana. I didn't mean anything. I promise I won't ask you that again if you feel uncomfortable about it."
Chandana. He looked at Kiran with a gentle and meaningful look. He moved his hand to caress Kiran's handsome and clean face. He also rubbed Kiran's hair bangs soft and smooth.
With doubt, Kiran brought her face closer towards Chandana. His blood rippled as he felt their faces being this close. Kiran can even feel her heart beating so fast that it makes her feel nauseous.
Kiran stroked Chandana's face gently. His eyes looked at every inch of beauty that was now presented before him. Slowly, Kiran slipped Chandana's hair child behind her ear. He subconsciously advanced his face backwards but in surprise Chandana pulled back.
The girl seemed surprised to realize the signals were sent from her skin, eyes, then to her brain. Kiran was also surprised to see Chandana's sudden movements. As if aware of what he was about to do, a look of regretful eyes was seen in both of Kiran's eyes. He was about to rewind his body and turn away as Chandana held Kiran's face, then brought them back closer.
The hunting breath of the two hit each other's faces until at last their lips touched each other. Disperses all thoughts, stops time and freezes the heart. That night, for the first time in his life, Kiran felt alive yet on the other side of his body as if dead.
