Chapter 3

Flashbacks

At that time Ha Ru was crying in front of the grave of her parents who died in a car accident, the incident occurred when Ha Ru was only 10 years old. The mourners loved Ha Ru because her parents had left her when she was a child, Ha Ru could hear their conversation because they seemed to deliberately speak like that in front of the young Ha Ru.

“Don't listen to them” said a boy standing in front of Ha Ru.

Ha Ru raised her head looking towards the boy but the sunlight dazzled her gaze.

“Stop crying” said the boy while giving Ha Ru lollipop then leaving.

Ha Ru stopped crying and followed the boy. When the boy stopped Ha Ru also stopped, as the boy walked he walked along.

“Why are you following me?” ask the boy.

“Whose name?” ask Ha Ru.

“I'm Lee Won, now don't follow me again” said Lee Won.

“No want” firmly Ha Ru.

They looked at each other for quite a while until suddenly Ha Ru's grandmother called out to her which made Ha Ru turn towards the voice she was calling out to. When Ha Ru looked back at Lee Won, the boy was gone.

“Does this scarf belong to Park Ga Young?” asked Ha Ru who approached the cafe owner.

“True, it belongs to brother Ga Young” replied the owner of the cafe.

“Do you know where he got this scarf?” ask Ha Ru.

“No I don't know” replied the clerk.

“What's up, Ha Ru?” asked Lee Won who looked confused.

“It's okay, I have to go now. Later I will call you” Ha Ru said as she ran carrying the scarf.

Ha Ru leaves her lover alone in the cafe, Lee Won can only see Ha Ru leaving as she is used to. Ha Ru takes a taxi to the Seoul police, on the way she calls Young Joon and tells him that Ga Young has the same scarf that Kim Nami had. Ha Ru believes that the other victim also has the same scarf so she asks Yung Joon to investigate.

“Alright I'll investigate it” Young Joon said on the phone.

“I will send you a photo of that scarf and after that we meet at the” office replied Ha Ru.

Young Joon immediately turned his car around to the homes of the other two victims to see if they also had the scarf.

After a while, Ha Ru arrived at the Seoul police and a special investigation team began holding a meeting over what Ha Ru had discovered. He gave an explanation for his suspicions about the scarf he found. Ha Ru suspects that the scarf was given by the perpetrator to the victims and could have marked the victims by giving them the scarf.

“So you think the woman who had the scarf was the victim?” ask Byung Jun.

“Yes, that's how I think” Ha Ru replied.

“What about the other two victims? Do they also have the same scarf?” tanyan Byung - Jun.

“Detective Young Joon is making sure, we will know after he gets here” replied Ha Ru.

“Yes, you call Young Joon and ask Young Joon. Too long if waiting until here” Byung Jun's orders.

“Good, captain” replied Kyung Min.

Kyung Min immediately calls Young Joon and asks if the two victims also have the same scarf as Ga Young.

“They have that scarf also” Kyung Min replied.

“Well, now find out where the scarf came from and spread the picture of the scarf if anyone has it, tell the police” Byung Jun orders.

“Pak, it looks like about spreading the scarf image it is not a good choice. If the perpetrator also sees this he will realize it will be very complicated. It could be that he killed all those women at once” Ha Ru said.

“Ah, fuck. All righty! Find out where and who has the scarf discreetly. Fast moving!!” byung Jun's orders.

They all began to search and disperse according to the captain's orders. Ask from one store to another, but no one sells such a scarf. This search will take a long time, if not quickly found the culprit will soon happen again murder.

While Ha Ru was still thinking about when the next murder would occur, she had not been able to find a pattern in the murder. Everything seems random, starting from Park Ga Young who was killed on January 6, then Nam Jisu on March 10, he said, Kim Nami on April 27 and the last Ji Jin on August 2. There is no similarity in these dates, the distance between one homicide and another varies. So it's hard to figure out when the next murder will happen.

Young Joon tries to go to Kim Nami's workplace, which is a Kindergarten near his home, he works as a Kindergarten teacher there. Meanwhile, he sends Kwang Min to Nam Jisu's workplace at Manwon Hospital, where Nam Jisu works as a nurse. And the last Min Ki comes to work Ji Jin who is a florist. There they found the same scarf that Ga Young had.

After confirming that they all had the same scarf, Young Joon rushed to Ha Ru.

“Ha Ru, take a look at this” said Young Joon as he showed the scarves he found at the victim's residence.

“Everything is exactly the same, from where did they get this scarf?” keep Young Joon.

“That must be a scarf made with special, like homemade. View from the materials and pictures. It could have been the perpetrator drawing and sewing his own scarf because it looks like his own picture” said Ha Ru.

Ha Ru also realized that because he had made a mistake, the perpetrator made the scarf one by one and then gave it to his victims. Then maybe he is making the scarf and it will be given to his victims. The perpetrator may be a good painter or someone who is good at using his hands. After hearing Ha Ru's explanation, Young Joon recalled Ga Young's former partner, Park Yu Chan. He took out a picture of Park Yu Chan where he was taking a picture of the distudio where he painted and there was exactly the same painting that was on the scarf. Yu Chan was a painter, fitting in with what Ha Ru said and the painting must have been the work of Yu Chan. Young Joon immediately runs to catch Park Yu Chan who is followed by Ha Ru.

Actually Ha Ru is not sure if Park Yu Chan is a serial killer, because he has no relationship with other victims and also he does not have a strong motive to kill them. But as all the evidence currently lay on him, inevitably Ha Ru had to arrest Yu Chan.

As detectives chase the wrongdoer, a woman has just stepped out of the taxi wearing the same scarf as the victims. It indicates that there will soon be a murder and the woman is the victim. They also look for Park Yu Chan where he works and he does not exist. Then Ha Ru and Young Joon looked for her at home, they had knocked on her door many times but there was no response. When Young Joon wants to break down the house forcibly Ha Ru suddenly sees Park Yu Chan walking towards his house. Ha Ru and Park Yu Chan looked at each other, Yu Chan who realized that they were cops immediately ran over. Young Joon and Ha Ru ran after Yu Chan, running through the narrow alleys. After a while on the run Park Yu Chan ran into a dead-end alley that cornered him.

“Do not approach” threatened Yu Chan by brandishing the wood he found around him.

“Park Yu Chan, calm down and come with us” Young Joon said soothingly.

“Why should I come with you? I'm not wrong anything” said Yu Chan with a feeling of fear.

Park Yu Chan who was in a desperate state tried to attack Ha Ru who he thought was a weak opponent. But instead of Ha Ru being injured even Yu Chan who fell on the ground after getting a few blows from Ha Ru that made him battered.

“Wow” said Young Joon who was impressed with Ha Ru.

“Quick handcuffs dia” Ha Ru's orders.

They also took Yu Chan to the police station as a suspect in the murder case. And left Yu Chan in the investigation room.

“Why is his face battered like that, you beat him y” asked Byung Jun to Young Joon.

“Not me, but he” Young Joon said as he pointed at Ha Ru.

The rest of the team became amazed and a little afraid of Ha Ru, they were afraid that they would become like Yu Chan.

Ha Ru and Young Joon are tasked with investigating Yu Chan, and they enter the room and begin an investigation. Before starting the investigation Yu Chan asked for help to call his sister to look after her sick mother and the police agreed to her because of Yu Chan's circumstances. After speaking on the phone Yu Chan's face that was originally afraid of becoming ordinary. Then they started their investigation.

“Is this your work?” young Joon asked while showing the picture on the scarf.

Yu Chan who was just silent made the police overwhelmed and if Yu Chan did not open his mouth in 2x24 he would be free. Yu Chan had been in the police station all day without saying a word.

The next day Young Joon Investigates Yu Chan again but Yu Chan is silent and does not answer the question, Young Joon asks if he knows Park Ga Young, I took a picture of Park Ga Young. And again Yu Chan just fell silent it made Young Joon angry and pulled Yu Chan's collar.

“Can the police treat ordinary citizens like this? I won't talk until my lawyer comes” Yu Chan replied casually.

Then suddenly Min Ki entered the investigation room to tell that there has been a murder case again and this time the location is in the park. Suddenly they all felt confused
