It is easy to say that life is unfair, and it is easy to ask someone to be patient about a life that feels unfair.
Yeah, sometimes it all feels easy when it's so hard to live. And sometimes there is something that feels impossible to live even though it has not been lived at all. It is human and it is their destiny.
"Abi?"
"Dad, let's get up!"
"Abi .. huaa, you'll have to pee here."
Ameer who is currently asleep must be disturbed by the sound of his son's catfish, he yawned while rubbing his eyes that felt so heavy.
"What, Honey?" ameer asked and she slowly opened her eyes, and a big smile spread across her lips as she looked at the pouting face of her little son.
"Adek wants to pee, Abi, but kaka does not want to deliver," whined the youngest and in the handsome Syauqi, or commonly called Adek according to his status.
"Ih, it is big, the time is still asking to be delivered," continued Asywaq, the eldest and the beautiful daughter.
"It's only 7 years old, it's not big yet" Syauqi said sulking.
"It's big!" asywaq.
"No, that's a little adek so it's still a kid."
"Well, okay .. adek is a kid, that's okay," said Ameer. He got out of bed even though he still felt so sleepy, even his body felt so tired. Because of that fatigue he immediately fell asleep after the Isya prayer, and after glancing at the new clock he knew it was only 9 pm.
"Come on, brother also brushes his teeth after that sleep, it's 9 o'clock, dear."
"Yes, Abi, five verses uh no, six yes six more," replied Ashwaq who made Ameer smile.
That was the reason her daughter did not want to take Syauqi to the bathroom, the little girl was focusing on memorizing the Qur'an because tomorrow there was a race between elementary schools. Ashwaq was chosen to represent his school.
It was an achievement that made Ameer never stop being grateful, so far he managed to be a good parent for the twins even though he had to bear the status of a single parent.
And yeah, it doesn't feel like he's been fighting for 7 years. Struggling to forget the pain of losing his beloved wife, struggling to become a father and mother figure for the twins. However, of course he is not really alone because there are parents and two older sisters who are always loyal to help Ameer.
"Abi" called out to Syauqi softly as his father washed his hands and feet.
"Why, Son?" ask Ameer gently.
Syauqi fell silent, he seemed to want to say something but was still hesitant. And Ameer knows it. "What, Honey? Just say it," Ameer said. "Remember what Abi always said? Abi is Adek's and Big Brother's best friend, so you're free to tell Abi anything."
"Of course, honey," Ameer replied in a slightly choked voice. She took her son and took him to bed. "But why do you ask that?"
"Because they say people will get what they ask for in prayer, but why don't we have a mother?"
Ameer's eyes immediately felt hot, her chest immediately pounding hearing what the son said.
In the past, they had also asked like that but Ameer explained it as best he could. They seemed to understand because after that his two children no longer asked, but after a long time, now a similar question came back from his son's lips.
While Ashwaq who heard his sister's question immediately looked up, looking at the sister sharply as if reprimanding her.
The youngest could only swallow his saliva and he could not hide his sadness. "I just asked what my friends often ask me, why we can't have a mother" she said.
"Dad?" asyawq.
"It's okay, brother," Ameer quickly exclaimed with a smile. "It's just that Abi's happy that you're not hiding anything."
He approached his daughter, was about to carry her and take her to bed but her eldest daughter who felt mature because of her status as an older sister, of course, immediately refused.
"Sister's grown up, Bi, don't have to be carried anymore." He walked and crawled up to the bed, Ameer who saw it could only smile. There was a sense of pride in her daughter wanting to be mature and act like an older sister, but she was also sad that she had to grow up prematurely.
"Mother has also been praying all this time, dear," said Ameer later who also followed her children up to the bed.
"What do you pray for, Bi?" ask Syauqi.
"Ummi prayed for God to love him and put him in the best and most sacred place" Ameer replied. "And he'll be waiting for us there."
"Why aren't we just taken, Bi? Let's not split up and no one will ask why we don't have a mother."
"Adek, don't remember what they said," said the elder again, who made Ameer laugh but looked sad.
"Honey, there are some things that humans cannot decide for themselves. Death, soul mate and sustenance. We can only surrender to God, and be sure we will get the best."
"Is Ummi's death the best thing for us, Abi? Isn't death sad? Then why is something sad to be considered as something that is best?"
