Long before the children were born, the three of them were friends. Grow together from the small blind individuals of the world, into adults capable of critical thinking for every step of life. Day by day, their relationship grew stronger. Until then, a promise was made to stay that way until the children of their descendants were born. Extending the friendship to the last lineage. Along with that promise came another promise. A promise not to fall for each other. Promise to keep hold of the status as a friend so that nothing is broken.
Year after year, they kept making promises. At every meeting, they never forget to remind about two important promises that they must keep until death picks up.
However, they seem to have forgotten that there is more power over the human heart. They forget that God, the owner of life who has power over everything, is better able to turn things around.
Continuing together for many years actually made the three of them comfortable with each other. The seeds of love began to spread, growing little by little until over time into fields of colorful flowers that were too beautiful to miss.
Astanu realizes that she has fallen in love with Margaretha, but in order to maintain their friendship, she suppresses her feelings deeply. He's a sniff of everything. He kept those feelings to himself, though he had to grimace as often as he endured the heartache.
He said nothing ends in vain. Hence Astanu willingly brushed off his feelings. However, on a sunny day right after they had earned their bachelor's degree, he instead found his two friends betrayed. The two claimed to have fallen in love with each other, even having secretly been in a relationship without anyone knowing it.
In the pain that hit his chest, Astanu could only sigh with helplessness that controlled him. Margaretha, whom she loved in silence, preferred to fall in love with Damian, at a time when there were countless other men around her. There was nothing Astanu could do at that time other than let go. Although from that day on, the friendship he guarded desperately no longer went on like before.
It took a long time for Astanu to heal. Because this is not just a matter of breaking up, but also the feeling of being betrayed by friends he loves like family.
Being sincere is never easy to do. Although the wound had dried up, the feeling of betrayal still continued to haunt Astanu for the rest of her life. Even if he was married and had Pamela, the pain was still there.
Nevertheless, Astanu still tries to live life as well as possible. She prayed for Margaretha and Damian to be happy. Because after all, the two of them remained friends that he cared about.
Then as time went on and Astanu almost completely forgot what had happened in the past, something else came along and made everything fall apart.
Segara, the only son of Margaretha and Damian, announces the wedding plans. It was only a few days before Astanu expressed the desire to match the boy to Pamela.
As a father taking care of Pamela alone since her wife passed away, Astanu clearly learns that her daughter has fallen in love with her childhood friend. He wanted to help, so that at least the story of his daughter did not end miserably like his.
And Segara went back to messing things up.
Astanu angry. Because almost every night after the wedding plan was spread, he found Pamela crying alone. His twisted groaning reminded Astanu of himself in the past. The pain suffered by his daughter was too familiar to keep him quiet. And because he was too familiar with the feeling, his anger became uncontrollable.
From that day on, there was no such thing as forgiveness in the dictionary of Astanu's life. He was determined to demand revenge. For the tears he let out first, also for the tears his daughter spent in vain for Segara.
The great anger had made Astanu lose its direction. One crime after another he committed to show Damian and his family how painful it was to lose.
"It's my sin, Nu. Leave it to me, not to our children." As everyone was silent on hearing the past story coming out of Astanu's mouth, Margaretha suddenly walked over, resting at Astanu's feet as if she were a sinner worthy of judgment.
Seeing his wife squirming with tears, Damian followed. "Punish us for what happened, Nu. We don't know if our feelings hurt you so much. If I knew you liked Margaretha too, I would back off, Nu. I must have relented."
"You obviously know that's not what I want." Astanu replied with his hoarse voice. The orange prisoner uniform was attached to the body, while his handcuffed hands in front were no reason for him to remain seated haughtily.
Astanu looked at Margaretha and Damian in turn. Pieces and pieces of the past story flashed in his head, and it was bad news because his feelings were even more unwelcome.
There are so many things that Astanu wants to say, but he parses them all. He swallowed back word after word that he was ready to spit out. Choosing to keep it back, for him to carry it alone, until he dies. He just felt like everything was going to be in vain. Neither Margaretha nor Damian would understand how she felt. How tormented he is because he continues to feel betrayed by those he trusts. They will not understand, because they have never directly experienced it.
"I want to go back to the cell." Pinta Astanu to the warden who stood several meters behind his body.
The warden moves forward, grabs Astanu's arm for him to dribble back into the cold holding cell.
"Nu," Damian quickly stood up, about to hold Astanu back from leaving.
"I'm not going to apologize." Cut Astanu. For a moment, he again looked at Damian who was standing before him. "Suppose we break even now." Shoot Astanu, before he finally stepped wide leaving his two friends behind.
Margaretha's crying voice sounded heartbreaking. Until Astanu must close his eyes and try to care for the ears. For this time alone, he wanted to no longer care about the woman.
Seriate...
