A restaurant that is only 15 minutes from home is Segara's choice to invite his small family to dinner. Mama and Papa did not participate, the two parents chose to go home because they did not want to be too long exposed to the unhealthy night breeze and Segara happily invited. Of course, it is better that his parents do not interact much with Lana, in order to avoid the emergence of other bad questions.
The condition of the restaurant is not too crowded, fortunately, because traveling and enjoying time outside is not too suitable for Segara. In the past, when he and Karenina were still dating, they would rather spend time at home, curled up on the couch while watching a favorite movie series, he said, or if you're trying to make a cake in the kitchen. Until they get married, the custom remains the same. Rarely do they go out if not for the really important business. The only routine activity that requires them to go out is a walk in the complex park, because Karenina likes to tease the little children who are playing there, making them cry.
“Ga,”
“Hmm.” Segara just cleared his throat, then put dessert into the mouth as the last touch of his dinner activities.
“Gue back yes tonight.”
Hearing Arkana's words, Segara turned to look at the young man sitting right next to him, one eyebrow raised so high. “Why?”
“What's the reason?” Arkana asked back. The plate containing the chocolate pudding she swiped towards Micah, handing the sweet-tasting dessert to her niece who looked still lacking with her own pudding. “Gue has a home, so why do I stay at your house for a long time? After all, now there is Miss Lana.”
“Yes why if there is Miss Lana?”
Arkana clucked slowly, turned the chair to face Segara and said, “Lo has never heard anyone say that married people can not bring others to live in the same house? Pamali.”
Not immediately answering, Segara turned to look at Lana who was sitting opposite him, busy feeding Micah. “Miss Lana has no problem with that, right?” ask him to Lana.
The woman raised her head, staring confusedly at Segara and Arkana in turn. Apparently, he did not listen too much to what the two men were talking about, so innocently then he asked, “Designs about what?”
Oh my... Segara sighed softly, then he turned back to Arkana. “Pamali or something, I don’t believe that. Stay home, if necessary, you move all your belongings so you can stay permanent.” Declared. What an order, for it does not show at all that it will grant any respite to Arkana to refuse.
“Ah..” Lana suddenly made a sound, making Segara and Arkana simultaneously turn towards her. When that happened, the woman then smiled thinly and then continued, “Pak Arkana want to stay at Mr Segara's house?” he asked, only understanding the context of the conversation.
“No, I want to go home to my home.”
“Yes, she wants to stay at my house.”
The two different answers were said simultaneously by Arkana and Segara, leaving Lana confused. Which one is right? Stay or not?
“Arkana stay at my home. Miss Lana doesn't mind, does she?”
“Sure. That's Mr. Segara's house, why should I object?”
“Right?” Segara smiled happily. “Miss Lana don't mind, you have no reason.” He stared triumphantly at Arkana.
Just like that, Arkana was made speechless. Really, he wanted to go home by himself. It's not about him objecting to helping Micah, not at all. He loved that chatty boy, so taking care of him wasn't something that sucks. Arkana just felt, either he or Segara need their own time from now on.
Oh, yeah, yeah, he knows that marriage between Segara and Lana is not real. But still, right, he couldn't stay there as a stranger. What would people think if they knew? Not to mention that until both parents Segara who know, it can be chaotic!
But apparently, Segara's brain and the way the man thought had indeed changed a lot since the death of his wife. Hard, Arkana thinks he won't have a way to fix it.
“Spend the pudding, we have to hurry home, it's late at night.” Segara helped Micah wipe the corners of his lips. Before, it was Lana's duty to feed Micah. He was just looking for a diversion, so Arkana would no longer comment and they could go home soon.
The fat boy just nodded with a bulging cheek full of pudding. A few more mouthfuls and sweet treats were also successfully emphasized.
As someone who took the initiative to take them to dinner, Segara rose first to process the payment. While others waited while tidying up whatever they had to take home, making sure no one was left behind to avoid the annoying turn-around scene.
A few minutes later, Segara returned and they rushed home. With Micah stuck in the arms of Lana and Arkana running jerks, still could not accept the decision of Segara who forbade him to go home.
“Laki lo ngeselin, Sister. I hate.”
...----------------...
As it turned out, the decision to let Micah eat two servings of chocolate pudding was wrong. Because now, instead of sleeping, the child was even so active running to and fro, carrying Hechi, asking him to talk like a friend himself.
Segara's sticking out his own nose. From the sofa where he sat in the living room, Segara noticed how Micah was constantly pacing in front of him and repeatedly refused to be invited into the room.
“Mikha, it's late, darling. We sleep yuk? Tomorrow play again with Hechi.” Lana's meek voice made Segara raise his head again. She saw the woman crouching in front of Micah, cupping the little body of the princess while looking at her lovingly—like her own child.
“Mikha is not yet sleepy, Mommy.”
“OK, Micah wants to sleep.” The statement almost made Segara can sigh in relief, if only the chatty boy did not continue his sentence and made him swallow his hard-earned saliva. “But Micah wants to sleep with Mommy and Daddy, okay?”
Segara reflexes looking at Lana, as well as the woman. Their gazes met, fixated long enough as if they were chatting using the language of the heart. But the name of their hearts have not even met at the same point, will as long as they look, the form of communication still does not work as well.
Aware that Micah was still waiting for an answer and presumably Segara reluctantly—or perhaps confusion—to reject his daughter's wishes, Lana took the initiative to speak. “Tonight, Micah slept with Miss—ah, Mommy first, huh? Daddy's tired, honey, so we let Daddy sleep alone in his room. Can?”
It would be nice if the little head nodded immediately so that they could quickly go to sleep, but unfortunately, Micah suddenly became a son of a bitch when his head just shook so hard, inviting Hela breath so long escaped the lips Segara without being prevented.
“Mikha wants to sleep with Mommy and Daddy.” Say the boy. The bad news, it was said while showing a sad look that— actually both Lana or Segara know only made-up, but still make them not have the heart to refuse.
Finally, so fittingly, Segara nodded his head. How else would you like? Than Micah refused to sleep until morning? Wouldn't it be more troublesome if it actually happened? Hey, don't forget that the kid just got out of the hospital a while ago.
His desire to be obeyed without the need for too much effort made Micah jump in excitement. The boy jumped into Lana's arms, asking her body to be lifted into the room so they could go to sleep in three. The existence of Hechi who originally looked so precious was now meaningless, the brown teddy bear was dropped from Micah's hand, left helplessly stung on the floor and ended up picked up by Segara.
Lana and Micah had passed first, while Segara was fixated in the living room, rethinking why he could have agreed to Micah's request, though clearly he had promised Karenina not to bring anyone else into their room.
Realizing that regret is no longer meaningful, Segara also continued the step. But he was surprised when he did not find Lana and Micah in his room. Instead, he found the two men in Micah's room, with the boy lying on his little bed while Lana half-lying with her head on one hand, one hand the other moved up and down rubbing Micah's stomach that looked bulging.
“Sleep here?” segara asked Lana after putting Hechi in Micah's toy basket in the corner of the room.
Lana stopped her activities for a moment, then looked at Segara and nodded. “The father will not let me sleep in the main room, right?” said the woman. Like a sarcastic sentence, but because Lana said it, Segara understood that the woman was just too sensitive.
“Small Micah basket, won't fit for threes.”
“Any better idea?” ask Lana.
Segara was silent for a long time. His gaze repeatedly switched from Lana to Micah, so it continued for almost 1 full minute. Then, all he could do was sigh low as he found no way out.
“We slept in Daddy's room aja.” Micah's Proposal. Without waiting for her father to answer, the boy jumped down from the bed, making Lana do the same.
“No, Daddy's room is a mess.” Segara tried to evade.
Hearing her father's reply, Micah pouted. “Can be cleared first.” Her great-grandchild.
“Together, Micah, you must sleep, it's late at night.”
“In my room only,” chirps Lana who can not stand this endless sleep drama. “If you don't mind, we sleep in my room aja.”
“OK!”
Oh, no, the answer came out of Micah's lips. As if her father's voice was no longer important to make a decision, Micah suddenly held Lana's hand, carrying the woman out of the room. Even so unseen Segara, the boy prefers to go out of the door of his own room, not passing through the connecting door that requires him to stop by the father's room first.
“Ren, your son is getting more and more his behavior, I have to how?”
...----------------...
Miraculously, it was not until 15 minutes after Micah had laid himself on Lana's bed that the boy had fallen asleep holding Lana and Segara's thumbs in each hand. It clearly makes Segara and Lana can not go anywhere, forced to continue lying in their position until now has 1 more hour passed.
“Miss Lana should sleep now.” Segara said after before there was only silence between them. He said that with his gaze fixed straight towards the ceiling of the room, reluctant to turn towards Lana for fear that she would misbehave.
“I’m trying.” Lana said in a soft voice.
“Sorry that Micah is troublesome,”
Silent. Lana didn't say. Out of curiosity, Segara finally kept his head up as well. And at that point, she found herself feeling something foreign when she saw Lana staring lovingly at Micah who was sleeping. I do not know since when the woman had changed her position to be tilted facing Micah, because she did not feel the bed they were sleeping in swaying.
“She’s so cute.” Lana said, out of context, increasingly making Segara did not understand how to respond. Then when the woman suddenly turned her gaze to him, Segara was completely at a loss for words. “I don't feel that Micah is troublesome. I think I’ve .. fallen in love with this cutie.”
And that was the last sentence Lana said before the woman closed her eyes, leaving Segara in a long silence even minutes after.
