Mama For Mikaela

Mama For Mikaela
THIRTEEN

After feeding the last spoon into Micah's mouth, Segara got up from the table. He took three empty dishes with him to the sink, followed by Arkana who helped carry the glass and some other dirty cutlery.

In her little chair at the dining table, Micah was engrossed in chewing on the strawberries she had snatched from inside the refrigerator. His forehead frowned funny tatlaka sour taste of strawberries greet his taste buds. But, the boy did not give up just because the strawberries he ate tasted sour, he kept chewing them until they ran out.

Back to Segara who is now busy moving his hands sweeping soap on dirty dishes. Ignoring the existence of Arkana who was standing beside him with her waist leaning on the counter. The man's eyes focused on watching Micah at the dining table.

"Mikha looks a lot like Ren." Arkana, who was not answered by Segara, only agreed on the words of his sister-in-law in his heart.

"The world is such a jerk, Ga. That little boy should grow up without his mother."

Segara still does not answer. Now he is busy rinsing dishes that have been exposed to soap and then put it on a shelf next to the sink.

"In the past, Brother Ren often told me that his ideals were only to be a mother. She wants to understand how it feels to care for her own child. You know, why."

Because since she was very young, Karenina has not felt the affection of her parents. Segara touched in his heart.

"But only then was she happy because she finally managed to become a mother, God instead called her first. In fact, at that time Brother Ren sounded really happy when I ngabarin if Micah was born." Arkana smiled miris. Her sweet memories with Karenina now no longer only bring warmth, but also pain that feels suffocating.

"Four years, Ga. Four years and we still don't know the truth." Now, Arkana turns his head, only to find Segara silently staring in front of the sink. His gaze fell on the soap bubbles the rest of his activities washing dishes, as if the clear bubbles were so attractive that he was reluctant to turn his gaze from there.

Seconds by seconds passed only filled with silence. Segara is still not moving, even with Arkana who is still in his position and now has nothing more to say. There were actually many things that were still bothering his mind, but none of them managed to come out from the corners of his lips until all the man could do was sigh repeatedly.

Still at the dinner table, when the strawberry loot was devoured, Micah began to devote his attention to two adult men who had since spoken to each other from a considerable distance away from him. He was too small to understand what his father and om were discussing, but through the eyes of both of them were dim, Micah knew there was sadness trying to be buried as deep as possible so that he would not see it.

"Daddy." Calling him, made his father turn around and stare back at him with a thin smile that seemed forced.

"Om gonna kiss dong too." Sela Arkana, thrusting her cheek to get a turn kissed by Micah.

However, instead of kissing Arkana, Micah moved his small hand to pinch Arkana's tapered cheek making the man squeal in pain.

"Om asking for a kiss, not a pinch!" unfortunately, his hand moved slowly rubbing his reddened cheek because of Micah's actions.

"Daddy said, Micah can't just kiss people." Micah said.

Segara only chuckled at Micah's words, while Arkana again throbbed and still continued to rub his cheeks and eyes that glared at Micah.

Then, before Arkana launched any more protests, Segara moved from there. He took Micah who was in his trunk away from Arkana who was now busy mumbling. Ignoring Arkana's rant was still heard until the moment she reached the stairs, preparing to go up to the second floor.

"Daddy," whispered Micah.

Segara paused his steps for a while, only to hear what Micah would say to him.

"I love you."

And when the sentence came out of Micah's little lips, Segara seemed to have the chance to start over his ravaged life. He often focuses too much on the sadness of losing Karenina, forgetting that Micah's presence is another precious gift.

So, with a smile that expands, Segara replied. "Daddy love you too."
