The two simultaneously turned their heads towards the door and found Segara who was stepping quickly towards them. The man immediately took over the injured plaster from Micah's small hand while one of his other hands grabbed Pamela's arm.
“Ga, sorry yes, I was negligent on guarding Micah, so—“
“Jelasinnya later, we first cure your wound.” Cut Segara fast. He then attached the wound plaster on his hand to Pamela's arm.
“Mikha, you okay?” segara asked Micah, who was silent, to watch his father take over his job.
“I,m okay, Daddy.” Micah answered with a clear voice.
“So,” now Segara switched to Pamela. He moved slowly to take a sitting position across from the girl and grabbed Micah's small body then he landed the small body on his lap. “What happened, Mel?” continued.
Pamela was silent for a while, looking to bite her lower lip while her hands squeezed together in a restless sitting. Segara who realized that he let out a low sigh, then in a soft voice he said, “Tell me, Mel. I’m all ears.” Just to make Pamela lift her face for a while and pass a heavy breath full of fear and anxiety.
Then after one long breath, Pamela said, “Tadi I took Mikha for a walk to the complex park, Ga.” Pamela turned her gaze away from Segara who was staring at her and listening patiently before continuing. “At first it was safe, Micah looked happy because he could meet his peers. But, just as I want to take Micah home, suddenly there is a motor that passes very fast and almost grazed Micah.” Then Pamela lowered her head deeply, not daring to look into Segara's eyes like that of a bottomless dark ocean.
“Sorry, Ga. If I wasn't careless, Micah wouldn't be in danger. I'm so sorry, even though you trusted Micah to me, but I was careless like this.” Pamela's shoulders seemed to shake. He's really scared right now. Afraid that Segara was disappointed and would no longer want to ask for his help because of the carelessness he did today.
But, what Segara said next managed to make Pamela lift her face with a clear look of surprise. He said, “It's not your fault. Don't beat yourself up because I don't like you like it.”
“But, Ga—“
“It’s okay, Mel. The important thing is that Micah is okay and you are also not hurt worse. I thank you for taking the time to take care of Micah when you should be able to rest in peace at home.” Segara flashed a faint smile, only to make Pamela feel even more guilty.
In fact, it's okay if Segara blames himself. Though legitimate if Segara yelled, berate or even throw him from here now because Pamela did feel he had neglected to look after Miha. But why didn't Segara do it? Why had the man never been angry with her for any mistake she had made as long as they were friends? Didn't you know that Segara's attitude is what makes Pamela even harder to forget her feelings?
Not yet relieved of the rumbling in Pamela's chest due to her guilt towards Micah and Segara, she was made to be surprised by the sound of broken glass coming from the front of the house. Pamela turned her head quickly, along with Segara who rose from her seat with Micah in a sling.
The man clenched Micah tightly as his eyes stared intently at the broken glass strewn not far from the living room. Among the glass fragments that filled the floor, there was a clear glass bottle inside that contained a roll of paper.
“Titip Micah briefly.” Segara said, handing Micah over to Pamela.
Pamela only resigned when Micah's small body was passed towards her. He swiftly carried the little body into the sling, one hand moving up and down rubbing Micah's back in an attempt to calm the little girl who must have been as surprised as he was.
Near the big broken glass window, after stepping carefully to make sure he did not step on the scattered pieces of glass, Segara grabbed the glass bottle and took out a roll of paper inside. His jaw immediately hardened after reading a line on the paper written in red ink.
I returned. Prepare yourself because I have many surprises for you and your happy little family.
All the oaths have been spoken in the minds of Segara, ready to be spewed out loud in front of the face of the damned man who has dared to disturb his life and family. The paper he had finished reading was saved, as if he was scattering the body of the person who sent him this message to the point of being crushed unceremoniously.
Behind her, Pamela still could not read the situation that was happening right now. He was only silent for a long time, waiting for Segara until the man turned around and stepped quickly towards him and Micah.
“I'll drive you home now.” Segara said, pulling Pamela's arm after taking over Micah into her sling.
Pamela is clearly confused due to Segara's sudden action, but he had no chance to ask further because the man had stepped wide and Pamela was forced to follow in his footsteps because her arms were held tightly by Segara.
Segara took her in the car. Do not wait until he finished installing the seatbelt properly and immediately stepped on the gas pedal. From the front rearview mirror, Pamela could see Micah who was sitting in the middle seat seemed confused to see his father who was driving like an evil person.
“Slow-slow, Ga, pity Micah.” Pamela said slowly. Segara did not answer, but Pamela knew that Segara listened to her words as the man gradually reduced his speed.
During the journey, silence reigns. Micah still looked like a henchman in the middle seat, Segara focused on the streets and Pamela started to get busy with her own thoughts. He began to wonder about what kind of situation they were facing right now.
Why the look on Segara's face changed so drastically and the man dragged him home after reading the paper. What is the sentence written there in the form of a threat that makes Segara riled up? But, who would dare to send a threat to a Segara Adhitama?
Because as far as Pamela knows, Segara is not typical people who are vulnerable to have enemies. His calm attitude makes Segara liked by many people since they were both in school. So, it felt impossible that now suddenly there was someone targeting that man.
Various questions came and went, but none of them managed to ask Pamela even until the car they were riding stopped in the courtyard of her house. Pamela flinched as Segara called out her name in a rather loud voice. Perhaps the man had called her many times and she had not heard of her for being too preoccupied with her own thoughts.
“Pick in to home.” Segara orders with a foreign-sounding tone in Pamela's ears. For a long time, he had never heard Segara speak in this tone. It was as if the man was really angry and could have swallowed him alive had he not complied.
“Mel,”
“Iya.” Pamela moved quickly to release the seatbelt. Before descending, he looked back and found Micah already sound asleep.
“Mikha sleeping. You don't want to move him forward?” tanyakanya. His gaze was still fixed on Micah's innocent face which described how the little girl still knew nothing.
“More secure behind.” Segara answered quickly. “Because if anything happens during the return trip, at least Micah's risk of harm will be smaller than if he sat next to me, Mel.” Continue in the heart.
When looking at Segara, Pamela almost lost the ability to process words because what she found in front of her now is not at all like Segara who she knew twenty years ago. There was a flash of anger clearly burning in both eyes of the ocean. His lips were tightly clenched and both his hands gripped the steering wheel firmly.
“Pick in the house, Mel. Don't make me point out my bad side in front of you.”
Pamela didn't say anything else. Soon he opened the car door and rushed down. Not waiting for long, Segara's car drove back to leave the residential area, making Pamela stand on the spot with a fussy mind as the more distant Segara car from her distance of view.
