“Ngambek?”
The state nodded its head. His eyes could not be separated from the figure of Micah who was tolerant on the floor while playing a brown teddy bear that he got from Arkana a few weeks ago. While beside her, Arkana again sighed.
The young man accidentally covered Segara's house after doing a small job, bringing a bucket of original-flavored KFC chicken— Micah—'s favorite and some other snacks he bought from Alfamart in front of the complex. In his shadow, he would spend Friday night pleasantly, joking with Micah before they finally fell asleep together in a bed—entah belonging to Segara, or even Micah's.
In fact, what Arkana first discovered when the door of Segara's house opened was the tangled look on her sister-in-law's face, then followed by the existence of Micah who was already intolerant on the floor of his father's cold room with Hechi (the name of Micah's teddy bear). The child's lips pouted, advancing ceaselessly until it felt Arkana could tap the lips perfectly.
Arkana turned back towards Segara. He saw the man crossing, with a gaze that was still not separated from the behavior of his existing daughter. “Ask what more this time?” tanyakanya. Last time, he knew the boy was whining for a bike. Arkana thought, that's probably why Micah sulked better—because the bike he asked for hasn't been bought yet.
“Mommy.”
Reflexes, Arkana eyes are breaking. Even so great was the reflex movement, he almost found both his eyeballs falling to the floor, until reaching Micah's body which was now in a prone position.
Beside him, Segara took a heavy breath before finally turning his head. “She asked mommy, Ar.” Repeat the man.
Hold still. At least, please give Arkana time to process the information Segara gave her a few seconds ago. Because it's kinda... doesn't make sense?
Micah asked for a mother? Where does such a request come from, when all this time Micah looks fine even though he grew up only with his father?
“Gue doesn't know why he suddenly asked for it, but a few days ago, I already did.” Segara. From the tone of his voice, it was heard once the man regretted the decision he had made, and Arkana could understand why. “Gue forgot, Ar, if he is his son Karenina, who once promised something, will be collected until you can.”
Segara was frustrated when he said it, and once again, Arkana knew why. But come to think of it, Micah does seem to be worse. Perhaps it was because he was still too small and had yet to understand that there were things in this world that he would not be able to obtain, no matter how hard he tried.
“Cariin mom lies aja.” Out of nowhere the absurd idea came from, but Arkana said it with full awareness because she no longer knew what she could say to help.
As he and Segara knew, Micah's promise was a debt he would pay to the death. And since Segara had promised the boy, Arkana was not sure they could escape.
“Search rental wife, Ga.” Said Arkana again. Perhaps, he did not see that now on the head of Segara had appeared two red horns that were ready to plunge at him at any time.
Looking for a rental wife? Does Arkana think they are living in a fairy tale, or contract marriage-themed novels that end up making the two lead roles fall in love with each other? Well, what kind of nonsense?!
“You want me to search?”
“Lo mending silent first, Ar.” Segara. Suddenly, his head was dizzy. The scene in front of him did not improve even after the minutes passed. Micah even further rolled himself on the floor. If calculated, the child may have rolled back and forth eight times.
The innocent bear doll in the child's arms also became a victim because it had to roll over, sometimes on top, occasionally having to let himself squash Micah's distended stomach when the boy reached the prone position. If he could talk, the teddy bear might have yelled at Micah to stop acting.
Arkana was actually silent and also witnessed how Micah acted increasingly strangely. And the more he noticed, the more he was convinced that there was no other choice but to help Segara find a hired wife.
But the problem was, where could she find a woman who was willing to be a temporary mother to Micah? And again, it is not easy to find someone who will be well received by the child.
Pamela ah, Arkana would never recommend her, even if there was only her one candidate to choose from. Because somehow, he has a bad feeling about Segara's childhood friend.
Pamela's good, at least that's what she's always been trying to show everyone. But deep down in Arkana's mind, he held such great suspicion in Pamela. Perhaps, just wait for the time until he meets the exact cause.
“If you have a better option it's okay, Ga. But if it does not exist, I think there is no harm in you considering my advice that was.” Several times he gave a pat on Segara's shoulder, then he passed from the front door of the man's room.
For now, he would let his brother-in-law think which solution was more appropriate to take. The KFC chicken he had already bought should not be wasted, so he would enjoy it first while waiting for Micah to stop reogging.
