Mama For Mikaela

Mama For Mikaela
TWENTY-ONE

Any kind of pleasantry chatter is completely dispensed with during the return trip. Segara focused on driving, while occasionally looking at the presence of Micah in the middle passenger seat. While Lana's presence in the front passenger seat is completely ignored.

Just like her, the woman also did not open her voice other than to say the address where she lived. Through the tail of his eyes, Segara only found the woman occasionally lowered her head, looking at the fingers of his hands that were clinging to each other.

Outside, the originally heavy rain had turned into a thin drizzle. In the next few minutes, it will probably completely subside.

Since it turns out that Lana's home address is opposite to the direction of the office, Segara finally abandoned the intention to cover retrieving the files. In addition, he was also somewhat hesitant to leave Micah alone with a woman he did not know the origin of this.

“Right or left?” ask Segara, a few meters before they reach the T-junction.

“Right.” Lana answered briefly. The woman's gaze was even still fixed straight ahead, as if turning a little towards Segara was something forbidden.

Segara nodded slowly, then turned the steering wheel to the right according to Lana's direction without saying anything more.

About 500 meters from the first place he turned the wheel, looked an apartment building that could be considered quite luxurious on the left side of the road. To ensure that this apartment complex is the true residence of Lana, Segara slowed down the speed of the car then asked, “True here?” while looking towards Lana—just as the woman did the same.

“True, Sir.” Answer Lana.

Wasting time is what I hate the most. So as soon as possible, he drove back and stopped him right in front of the gate.

“Please.” Segara. One button is pressed, the central lock opens allowing Lana to immediately open the door and exit the car.

But, instead of doing it quickly, the woman looked back, to the place where Micah was sitting quietly.

“Mikha, Miss Pamit, yes. Sorry to make you late to go home.” Said the woman. His soft voice sounded like a good-night chant, almost making Segara forget that they were still completely unfamiliar.

Little Micah nodded, the girl's brilliant smile was a treat for her newly met Miss one day—something rather surprising since Micah was quite picky.

After saying goodbye to Micah, Lana turned back to him. Segara had a mild heart attack when he found out, the woman smiled. From the first day they met on daycare and during the journey home, all Segara found from the woman was a look of gloom and deep sadness that was somehow done. Then the smile was like a surprise attack that Segara could not take for granted.

“Thank you, Sir.” Say that woman.

Whether you can say being wrong or not, Segara suddenly cleared his throat quite hard. Before that, his throat was fine. But now, he suddenly felt something was clogging his throat and it was quite disturbing.

“No problems. Thank you for waiting for Micah until he came to pick up.”

“It has become my obligation to ensure the children return to their parents safely.” Lana. The woman opened the door and got out of the car. Thin drizzles that hit her body did not ignore the woman, because it would not make it wet anyway.

Segara took the initiative to lower the car glass in the middle passenger section to give an opportunity so that Micah could wave to his Miss for the last time. And, Micah actually did.

The hand that returned to each other was then ended with the re-boarding of the car glass. Segara honked once as a sign of goodbye, then he stepped on the accelerator after finding the woman standing in front of the fence nodding slowly.

“Why, Dear?” segara asked as he glanced at Micah through the middle rearview mirror. “You need something?”

“Can I have a mommy?” the little girl asked so innocently.

Micah doesn't know if the question has led Segara to a second heart attack tonight. The man reflexively stepped on the brake pedal, making the speed of the car that was originally quite fast suddenly stop and their bodies both slightly staggered forward.

“What?” ask Segara, trying to make sure that he is not being misheard. “What did you want?” he continued while looking closely at the princess.

“Mikha wants to have Mommy, can?”

Mommy's? Oh God ... What other trials are these? The country groans in the heart. After the death of her mother, Micah hardly ever whines for things like this. So, why did this adorable little princess suddenly ask for a mother? What's been going on in daycare all day? What was it that had poisoned the mind of this little princess?

“Bby?” tagih the boy.

It takes time to calm down from the shock. But as much as he took it, the word not at all was not that easy for him to say.

How do I explain to Micah that a mother cannot be given to him? How to make the child understand, that asking the mother is not as simple as asking to buy a bicycle or other things. How ... Arghhhh Segara's head felt as if he wanted to break up only to find the right reason to make his daughter understand.

“Can't be, huh?” micah's voice sounded lethargic, in tune with the look on her face that suddenly turned soft.

Of the many things, it is one of Segara's weaknesses. He did not like to see his daughter grieving, so suddenly, impulsively, the man said “Bby.” It was as if he could truly fulfill his daughter's wish.

That one word actually managed to make the hue on Micah's face return. The boy even looked so excited that he moved furiously in his chair. His smile was wide, so it looked a row of small teeth that were still free from the typical brownish stains of the leaks whose milk teeth were almost dated.

“Totally can?” ask the boy again.

Segara sighed low, then nodded. “Bby. But you have to be a smart kid first, okay? We'll find Mommy for you.”

“OK, Daddy! Micah promises to be a smart kid!” micah exclaimed as she pulled out her tiny little finger.

Segara was powerless to greet the pinky with his long pinky. Thus, it is lawful to have a covenant between them, even without black on white.

“Thank you, Daddy!”

Segara could only smile faintly, then grimace silently because now, he had to find a way to renege on his own promise.

Look at your son, Ren. He asked for my mother, he said. Want to find where I am when you clearly don't exist?
