Mama For Mikaela

Mama For Mikaela
EIGHTEEN

In the office, Segara has been busy since morning. Since setting foot in the company building, he has been held a meeting schedule with several clients to discuss various projects that had been delayed due to Papa's illness. In addition to clients, Segara also had to meet with employees from various different divisions to discuss other internal issues related to the change of management in the company.

So busy, Segara until no time for lunch. He even forgot his original plan to call Micah on the sidelines of his activities to determine whether his daughter was safe and comfortable in his new place or not.

Currently, Segara is still sitting in his chair, struggling with the files he needs to examine before affixing his signature to it. It was now half 4pm and he was too lazy to go downstairs to find something for him to eat. In addition to not eating at hours that are not eating, he also does not taste to put anything in his mouth because the pile of files on his desk is enough to make his stomach feel nauseous.

After putting a signature on one of the files, Segara decided to pause for a moment. He took off the reading glasses that had been perched on his nose and threw them on the table and got up from his chair. Then, he walked towards the large glass window in his study that led straight to the street.

His gaze shimmered, on the ranks of tall buildings across from the office building where he rested now with a mind that floated. Do the people in those buildings have heads as boisterous as him? Were there a lot of people that passed by in there, one or two who had bad luck like the one he was going through now? Or, of the many people who work there, are those who have to sit in chairs that from the beginning they do not want at all, he said, just like him who was forced to replace Papa because of desperate circumstances?

The boisterousness in the head became increasingly, the breath escaped many times without Segara realizing it. In the end, who managed to bring Segara out of the boisterous contents of his head at this time was a knock that was sown many times to the door of his study.

He turned his head, waiting for a while for the old brown door to open and displayed the figure of a female employee with several maps in her arms.

Seeing the pile of maps made Segara smile. He glanced at the pile of other maps that still inhabited his work desk. Of all the existing files, only a small part that he managed to learn and process further. The rest were still helplessly waiting for their turn to be touched.

And now, another map came to him, making his head even more full. Is this how Papa feels every day? With the age that is no longer young, does Papa every day struggle with the same thing? Or, basically he is the only one who is not good at taking care of the company so that all the work he now handles so it feels heavy?

The question stopped there, he did not continue because the female employee who had been standing in front of his desk. With a pleasant smile, the employee placed a pile of maps in his arms onto the table. His small eyes looked at Segara who was still standing by the big window, seeming reluctant to open his mouth first before the boss returned to his desk.

"Del," call Segara quietly. He walked to the desk after hearing the female employee named Adella answer his call.

"Can you help me handle some more work?" he asked after standing on the inside side of his desk, his hand outstretched open one of the maps in the top pile.

"Want me to help you with which work handle?" adella asked in a friendly voice.

Segara sat in his chair, pulling one map from the pile of maps that previously inhabited his desk. He opened the map and then took out a few sheets of paper containing all the documents about the project they were talking about. From the beginning, the project was the most interesting because the process is fairly slow when compared to other projects that have begun to be worked on.

"If that's the case, I think we need to discuss it directly with the executor. If from what I see, there seems to be a miscommunication between our side and the citizens. My advice, you can double check the previous proposal to be in direct crosscheck with the process that is running."

Segara listened to every explanation that Adella conveyed solemnly. Her eyes did not turn away from Adella as she spoke more. Occasionally he nodded his head in response to Adella's explanation, occasionally asking questions when there were one or two parts that he could not understand.

Until finally, he felt enough. The information she got from Adella has given her a little enlightenment and she knows what to do now.

"Okay, Del, thanks. You can go back to your room. Later, if I need your help again, I'll call you, okay?" said it.

"Good, Sir. You can call me to discuss anything. Mr. Damian is usually like that." Adella said with a faint smile.

"Thanks." -."

"Together, Sir. If so, excuse me." Pamit Adella's. Segara only responded with a nod of his head and the woman actually passed.

After Adella's body disappeared behind the door, Segara refocused his gaze on the sheet of paper in front. After this, he had to go to the construction site to see firsthand what was really going on. But later, he had to find the right time because other work was also waiting for him to finish. Maybe he'll go there tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Without feeling, time passed more quickly when Segara again drowned in his work. His phone turned on several times, indicating some incoming messages and calls. But because he was too focused on his job and the phone was in a state of silent mode, he was not aware of the activity on the phone that he left on another table near the sofa.

Segara was completely drowned, forgetting that he had Micah waiting to be picked up from daycare.
