Mama For Mikaela

Mama For Mikaela
EIGHT

On the way home after driving Pamela home, Segara could barely focus on the road ahead. Not only was he riled up about the terror that was again coming his way, but also because he had just shown Pamela one side of himself the other.

Segara realized, the attitude he showed to Pamela earlier would definitely make the woman in great shock. Because as long as they were friends, she tended to show Pamela a calm side of herself.

As the words "quiet water washed away", she had just shown Pamela that behind the calmness she showed, she had so many waves kept tight. The waves that could have rolled up everything he encountered, when in the end he poked out of hiding all along.

“Sorry, Mel. I just don't want you to get involved in anything bad that happens in my life.” He muttered alone.

Although while daydreaming, in fact Segara remained until also at home. Fortunately, he arrived safely.

After parking his car, Segara got off and rushed towards the passenger seat. Micah was still asleep, so he moved very slowly as he moved the small body into his sling and then stepped inside the house.

Segara paused for a moment in the doorway, his jaw hardening again as his eyes caught the still-scattering glass shards near the living room. It was as if each piece was a fire of anger that he had been keeping tightly behind his dark bead that looked calm. One heavy breath was taken and Segara resumed his steps.

Arriving at Micah's room, he laid the little body slowly. He pulled a blanket patterned in light blue frozen characters to cover his daughter's body. One hand was raised, removing the strands of hair covering her little girl's face then rubbing the child's head slowly.

“Sorry because you almost got hurt because of Daddy, Darling.” Mumbled.

Segara's chest hurt a lot. Like someone had deliberately thrown dozens of daggers towards his chest until it stuck and produced a gaping wound. Not enough, the wound was also then sprinkled with salt, sprinkled with orange juice so that the existing pain was increasingly agonizing.

All he wanted now was to take good care of Micah, while continuing to seek the truth behind his wife's death because it was his right to know. But, that damned bastard seemed unwilling to let him live the rest of his life, even though so many things had been taken from him.

Segara's eyes suddenly felt hot as he stared at that innocent face for quite a long time. The innocent face then took him to a phase where the pieces of memories from the past that had been stored tightly in the chest began to scatter out one by one.

Starting from his meeting with Karenina seven years ago, until finally he decided to fall in love with the simple girl and marry her. Continued to the cry of joy that he echoed when he knew that his beloved wife was pregnant with their first baby.

Later, the memories of Micah being born into the world and for the first time he shed happy tears when Micah's little hand touched the skin of his face were punctuated by a noise that was not at all disturbing. Until it came to the worst memories when she hugged the lifeless body of Karenina covered in blood and her skull almost broke.

The day she buried Karenina's body was the most damned day Segara ever had. At least, that's what he's been thinking all along.

Segara almost forgot when exactly this bad incident began to hit him again after many years. After Karenina's death, she had some quiet time to take care of her daughter.

And now, Segara began to wonder, what would make this man so obsessed to make his life destroyed? Why snatch Karenina as if it is still not enough? More than that, Segara was busy guessing, what sins has he committed in the past that may have hurt this man to such an extent that his grudge was to destroy him little by little in such a painful manner?

And the question still does not find an answer even though Segara has taken pains to unravel one by one the puzzle behind all these events.

Sensing his head getting noisier and he could have made Micah wake up with a hissing sound that accidentally came out from the side of his lips, Segara decided to leave Micah's room.

He rushed inside his room with his busy hand scrolling through the phone screen, looking around for someone's number. After finding the contact of someone he wanted, Segara immediately dialed the number and in less than four seconds, the phone managed to connect.

“I need your help. I'll wait at home.” He said straight away without any pleasantries.

Someone on the other side agreed to his request so that the phone connection was quickly cut off. Segara then stepped towards his study room located in another room next to his room, landing his buttocks on the chair while his eyes began to focus on the laptop screen in front.

His long fingers moved agilely over the keyboard, until several black and white images appeared on his laptop screen. It was a thumbnail image of a cctv that he installed in some corner of the house. The picture that will help him get closer to the perpetrator who has been haunting his life.

“Quickly or later, I will definitely find you. And when that day comes, I hope I can land a thousand blows to your face before throwing you in jail and making you rot there.” Say it before clicking on one of the pictures and the video in it starts spinning.

Segara seriously observes the details of the seconds contained in the video, looking at the objects caught on camera one by one in search of something strange to be able to investigate further. He repeatedly interrupted the video, repeating some scenes that felt suspicious enough to finally recognize the figure of the person who had thrown a glass bottle into the window of his house earlier.

However, instead of being happy, Segara was increasingly upset because the figure caught on camera was a figure he knew well and should not have done such things to him.

“What are you doing, Rud? Why should you be caught on my home cctv camera?”
