Mama For Mikaela

Mama For Mikaela
THIRTY-FIVE

The night moved faster, leaving the fanfare that occurred at the dining table a few hours earlier, moving to the head of Segara who since half an hour ago chose to sit alone on the porch of the house. Lana is still here, trying to put Micah to sleep who is still whining does not want to be left behind. I don't know, what kind of magic Lana uses that makes her daughter as if hypnotized to her faint charms.

At the round table, right next to the chair he was sitting on, there were 3 cigarette butts that were all not smoked until they ran out. They were only left behind when the rest of the half, for some reason, Segara just felt the pleasure he got just stopped there and he had to light another cigarette. In the history of his life, this was the first time he could spend more than 2 cigarettes in one sitting. Usually, he would only take 1, at most 2, it would not be until it was completely exhausted.

“Ga,” Arkana voice emerged from behind the door, followed by the presence of the young man who has now changed clothes using dark blue pajamas made of slippery satin. Segara did not answer, only turned his head for a while before reaching for the fourth cigarette and he immediately lit it.

Arkana knew Segara did not mind his presence, so he took a seat opposite the man, took a cigarette and lit it.

Long enough, maybe almost 3 minutes they did not talk to each other, just busy smoking each other with the same gaze fixed on the expanse of the pitch-black night sky. It was cloudy as if swallowing everything. The moon, stars, or anything that usually appears to emit light in the midst of darkness.

Later, instead of Arkana, Segara became the first person to open his voice after smoking his cigarette deeply once again. “Gue has decided,” he said in a very slow voice. It makes Arkana look, momentarily forget the existence of cigarettes on the sidelines of his fingers. “Tonight, I will try to persuade Miss Lana once again. Yeah, make it a mother, Micah.” continued

Arkana knows that's good news. At least, for now. Her ability to judge a person's character is arguably always good, and she believes Lana is indeed the right choice after observing how the woman treated Micah over the past few days.

“But,” word moment but it appeared even before he gave a response, Arkana completely removed the cigarette from the hand. He let it sit helplessly on the ashtray, let it burn and then extinguish itself. “Gue don't know if Miss Lana will be willing.”

“At least you have tried.” Arkana. The odds are still 50:50, but let him amuse himself a little with the sentence he mentioned earlier. “Despite not being willing to be a mother, I'm sure we can still ask her to help look after Micah. Sort of like a baby sitter, I guess?”

“Too cruel.” Suddenly Segara. After smoking his cigarette for the last time, he also put the object on the ashtray. “After all, Micah will definitely ask Lana to stay here. I can't possibly tell a person who doesn't have any ties to me to stay on my roof, right? You know how busy people judge my life from the outside.”

Arkana was silent for a moment, then nodded in agreement. “Lo true.” So the only thing they can try is to persuade Lana to agree to accept Segara's proposal, right? Yeah, even though Arkana himself still doesn't know how.

Like the word of the beloved shoots also arrived, the woman who had been talking about appeared only a few minutes after their conversation paused for a moment. The woman stopped at the doorway, staring at Arkana and Segara in turn.

“Mikha is asleep, sir. I'm leaving home.” Flirt with a soft voice.

Instead of replying, Segara turned to Arkana, where they then looked like they were talking through eye contact, causing Lana confusion.

A few seconds later, Segara turned back to Lana, along with the rise of Arkana from sitting and the young man immediately resigned to retreat into the house.

After Arkana disappeared, Segara rose up, only to ask Lana to join him in the seat that Arkana had previously left. “Can we talk to you for a minute, Miss Lana?” tanyakanya.

Lana herself did not know what kind of chatter would happen after, but she still nodded her head and according to when Segara invited her to sit down.

The longer, the air grew colder and Lana could not help but wipe her arms. While Segara never spoke, because he was stringing words in the head, so that what he said did not reach Lana's ears in a different way.

“Miss,” Segara called after feeling sure the arrangement of words he had was fitting.

“Can you be .. my daughter’s mom?”

...ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ...

The craziest thing Lana has done so far this year is say yes to an offer she previously rejected outright. Along the way to the house, where Segara was the one who drove him home, Lana inexhaustibly asked herself for the decision she had made. Why would he agree? Does she have the confidence to be a mother? And ... is she really willing to bear the title of wife of a man she hasn't even known for a month?

But until Segara's car pulled over in front of his apartment complex, Lana did not get answers to all those questions. His brain realized, one hundred percent, that everything had already happened and he could not retreat anymore. Even if he could, he wouldn't. Seeing how the look in Segara's eyes that originally looked beautiful turned into full of bright twinkle made Lana a little understood, that Micah was indeed so valuable to the man.

“Thank you.” Lana releases the seatbelt that wrapped her body, then intends to get out of the car immediately. However, Segara's heavy voice made his intention unabated. He sat back down, turning to Segara with his ears wide open to hear more about what the man would say next.

“As I have said before, Miss Lana may apply any terms, I will accept it. Miss Lana's willingness to help me realize Micah's wishes is a big thing, so I don't mind paying dearly.”

Lana smiled, the kind of smile that she herself did not know what it meant. He was not feeling happy, nor was he trying to cover up his sadness with that smile. Just... Lana was just confused. When they were treated to the question for the first time as they sat together on the porch of the Segara house, nothing occurred to him.

Money, jewelry, a house, a fancy car or anything that smells of material simply does not interest him, because without this marriage, he can still have it. The only reason why Lana agreed to accept Segara's proposal was because she cared about Micah, that she felt the child had the same fate as herself.

“Whatever, Miss, just say.” Segara Desperate. More to the moment where the man looks like he does not want to harm anyone.

“I don't have any conditions, Sir.” Lana said in the end. “Just like you, I did this for Micah. Perhaps, the only thing I can ask for is for us to walk like this? Meaning—“

“I understand.” Segara Sahut, start to know. Though not necessarily what he thought was the same as the one inside Lana's head. “I will not demand anything. About my rights as a husband, or Miss Lana's obligations as a wife. Such things were completely unthinkable in my head when I brought the offer to Miss Lana. Fully, I just want to make Micah happy.”

Seeing how the corners of Lana's lips were pulled upwards forming a thin, sweet smile, Segara was sure his thoughts were not wrong.

“Thank you,” said the woman, even though Segara knew he was the one who should have said that.

“I should thank you, Miss. Thank you very much.” For the first time, Segara smiled wider to strangers. That should be good news, hopefully.

At exactly 11pm, when Lama resigned and walked into a heavily guarded apartment building for 24 hours, Segara found the burden on his shoulders was lifted, make him able to straighten his back to complete the other load that is left.

“Thank you too, Ren. Thank you for your spaciousness to let me remarry, for our daughter.” The monologue happened again, but this time in a different atmosphere.

After that, Segara returned his car. Starting tomorrow, he will take care of more things. Indeed there will be no festive wedding party, because he still wants to keep the privacy of his family awake tight as before. But at the very least, shouldn't she go visit both her parents for blessings, as well as prepare a wedding party worthy of considering this was a first for Lana?
