“Married?!” on the other end of the phone, Pamela was heard raising her voice.
While behind his desk, Segara only answered yes while nodding his head. He put back the finished file with a signature, then got up from the chair and walked towards the large glass window behind it. His gaze glared far towards the streets that were wet with raindrops. The sky above is still gray, although it has not counted how much rain water has fallen since 1 hour ago.
Across, silence enveloped Pamela. The woman did not speak for nearly 1 minute afterwards. Segara himself had no intention of interrupting, allowing Pamela to find her own way back from the shock of the news she shared this time.
Actually, Segara had intended to tell Pamela about her marriage to Lana face to face. But since they were both busy and rumors about their relationship were still being heard in the company, he finally had no choice but to call the woman on the sidelines of her busy checking the contract file. Because, the wedding itself will be held in the near future next week.
“Sudden pocket?” pamela asked, almost like a whisper. “I don't think I've ever wriggled you walk with a girl, huh, Ga. Whoishe? I know?”
Segara took a deep breath, for a few seconds closing his eyes before opening them again and answering. “There, you don't know who it is.” Just that extent. Because he did not intend to tell Pamela in detail about who Lana was, as well as the reason why their marriage was held too suddenly. He thought that the less he knew about the real reason, the better. That secret will only be kept between her, Arkana and Lana. Even Papa and Mama won't let him know.
“I already ready a dress for you to wear to the blessing event later, Mel. Maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow will be delivered to you. Oh, I also have a shirt and suit for your father.” Segara. He did specially prepare clothes for invited guests that were not many, only the closest relatives were truly trustworthy.
“Repception? When's the recipe?”
“Neither.” Segara moved the phone that was originally attached to his left ear to his right ear. One hand was stretched out, touching the glass in front of him that was dewy exposed to rainwater tampias. “My wife's candidate does not want to have a party, so only a blessing event at the church, even invited guests are not many.” Finished talking, Segara grimaced. It was a bit strange when he had to mention the word wife-to-be when he didn't really want to admit it.
“Oh, yes? What kind of person is your future wife? As simple as that to not want a reception party?”
I don't know. Segara himself did not know that he should be told to describe a Kelana Larasati. They just know each other, until now, he—again and again—still often mistakenly remember the name of the woman. Clearly, when he asked Lana about what kind of marriage she wanted to make, Lana just answered they had enough to hold a blessing in the church. There is no need for a party, there is no need to invite many people because after all Lana has no one. Yeah, Segara just found out that Lana's an orphan.
“Ga?”
“He knew my position again was not possible to make a celebration party, so he relented by just holding a blessing event.” That's how Segara finally answered Pamela's curiosity. According to him, such an answer is easier to make Pamela no longer offer other questions that confuse her to find answers.
“Ah ... See i. Okay, deh, I'll come.”
“Still, Mel.”
“No prob. Yes, I did my job first, we will connect again. Bye, Ga!”
“Bye, Mel.”
And the phone is closed. Immediately back to his phone, then he crossed his arms, staring at the raindrop that slowly turned into a thinner, friendlier drizzle. Shortly before he entered the phone, Segara had seen the clock, already at 6 pm. Arkana should have been on her way here with Lana and Micah. Right, he had asked the young man to come pick up Lana and Micah in day care, this was their last day there.
But why haven't they arrived yet? Is it because of the rain, so the road becomes more jammed than usual?
Just now that the question was finished he echoed in the head, the door behind him opened, bringing up the figure of Arkana who only fix his head.
“Come home. Miss Lana and Micah are waiting in the basement.” Arkana.
Segara walked back to his desk, tidied up the scattered files and arranged them according to categories that only he himself understood. After that, he grabbed the suit that was draped on the shoulder of the chair then walked over to Arkana who—still just pop his head. I don't know why the young man didn't just come in.
“Lo live them in the basement is okay?” Segara asked after he arrived in front of Arkana.
The young man straightened his body, slightly shifting his standing position so that Segara could walk out. “Ya why, anyway? Do you want me to bring Micah with Miss Lana here, keep making your employees on a scene? Want?”
Segara did not answer, but just drove ahead of Arkana who was grumbling behind him.
“Lelet, ah.” Segara sneered, his broad steps forced to stop before reaching the front of the elevator. He turned around, squealing towards Arkana who was still pouting. “Not to frown, not cute.”
“Bodo highly.” Arkana Grunts. Already awaited, he even by not knowing himself to walk ahead of Segara, suddenly pressing the elevator button which is now still 3 floors above their floor.
Segara just shook his head slowly, hurrying after Arkana who was already standing restlessly waiting for the elevator door to open.
When the elevator doors opened, they were almost full. Segara certainly would not be willing to jostle in such an elevator, Arkana did not, so they both simultaneously stepped back, leaving the elevator door closed again.
“Lewat emergency stairs aja.” Segara Usul. It was not a good idea according to Arkana, so the young man shook his head.
“Lo aja, I'm ogah.”
Don't think Segara will budge and get back on his feet patiently waiting for another elevator to come. Because he said time is money. So without saying anything, he walked away from Arkana, stepping up to the emergency staircase in the right corner of the hallway.
Arkana was obviously upset. Really, he was not looking to walk down the emergency stairs which—a lot. But he had no choice, waiting for the next elevator to arrive seemed like it would take longer. So while grumbling, he followed Segara whose body had been lost swallowed by the door.
“Papa Damian so go home tomorrow?” ask Arkana after successfully aligning the steps Segara. Damn it, the lights along the emergency stairs did not turn on, making him forced to pull out a cell phone to help illuminate their steps.
“So. All his return files have been taken care of, tomorrow stay home.” Segara answered briefly. Unlike Arkana who stepped over while grumbling a lot about things, the man looked calm. The steps he was swinging looked regular, not rushed, but also not sluggish like a snail.
“But the condition is really okay?” ask Arkana again when their feet finally reach the basement. Flash hp turned off, the flat object he put back in his pants pocket. “Udah can kayak activity bisasa?”
“Udah okay, but not yet fit really make back to the office.”
“Means you still have to replace the task, even longer?”
Segara nodded, then smiled. “You don't want.” He said, then he galloped to an Arkana car that was parked alone.
“Car key, Ar.” Segara reached out to Arkana, while the young man who was asked for the key was stupefied not to understand. Seeing that, Segara also clucked. “Gue is driving.”
Then Arkana ber-oh so long, then inserting the car keys to Segara. The man accepted, ran straight to the side of the wheel and jumped up.
“Daddy!” a big welcome came from Micah who was sitting in the back passenger seat with Lana. The look on the girl's face seemed radiant, a smile fluffy, like there was just a good thing that made her so happy.
“Halo, Baby.” Segara greeted back. He shuffled for a while, only to shake Micah's hair furiously, then return to the correct sitting position after having a quick glance at Lana. “Where is today? Pleased? Are you the same as Nala and Leah?”
Micah nodded in spirit. “Happy! Micah told Nala and Leah that they could play at our house. Can, right, Daddy?”
Segara glanced at Lana through the middle spy, then turned to Micah. “Iya, can.” The answer. Then, after making sure everyone got up and put on their seat belts, he immediately drove forward.
Along the way home, all that was heard was Micah's talk about many things, and Lana was happy to respond to it. In the front passenger seat, Arkana said nothing, more interested in looking at his cell phone that was somehow displaying what. While Segara himself focused on driving, occasionally glancing at Micah and Lana in turn, smiling as the two laughed at something.
At a time like this, all she thought about was Karenina. If only it would appear again. If only he had never dared to voice because he was too late in grief for the loss of his beloved wife. Now, if it were as if it were shouting in her head, saying; if she were Karenina.
