Arkana can only sigh when Segara decides to let Rudi go. To Segara, the teenage boy said that he was forced to carry out orders from someone unknown to convey terror to Segara because he was threatened.
And Segara so generously let Rudi pass with his mother without asking for further explanation. The man did not even try to urge Rudi to say who had told him when the teenager said he did not know and he only got an order through a canned letter that someone threw into his yard.
With a jerking step, after making sure Rudi and his mother left the Segara house, Arkana approached the man. His eyes still could not be separated from the man who was now sitting in his chair. Arkana looked at Segara sharply, as if with just his gaze, he could make Segara shatter into pieces.
"Gue came all the way here not to hear this shit, Ga." Arkana said, resting both his arms in front of Segara's desk. His body was leaned forward, so his eyes could stare directly at this dark bead of the man before him.
"We should have forced him to give more information. I'm sure he knows something, Ga." Arkana was still loyal to his thought that it was impossible for Rudi to know nothing.
"Rudi said he didn't know who the man who gave the order was." Segara could still speak in a calm tone of voice, making Arkana who had been consumed by emotion became even more furious. His hands that were on the table clenched, with all his might holding back from throwing a raw fist into Segara's face to make the man sober.
"And you believe it? Do you believe the words of that snot boy? It seems to be so hard, Ga. You sure he wants to obey the person who told him just because he was threatened by his mother would be harm if he did not recede? Bullshit, Yes. I don't believe her words." Arkana spoke with excitement, he hit the table several times just to make Segara pass a heavy breath.
When Segara finally got up from his chair and forced Arkana to re-establish himself, he could see clearly how the dark spy turned into a sea of anger that was not at all trying to hide. In the middle of it, there was a scar and pain that made the angry lightning grow.
Arkana gulped her hard-earned saliva as Segara walked past her, having said something so piercing that it reached her heart.
"Mikha is secretly horrified to hear our words from inside her room, that's why I asked Rudi to come home because I don't want my son to hear things that he shouldn't have heard."
Then the strapping back disappeared behind the turn, leaving Arkana silently pecking with a pushy gaze.
...****************...
Segara walked towards Micah's room. When he got there, he found the boy lying on his back on the connecting door as if the boy was sound in his sleep. Though Segara knew that the boy had secretly infiltrated into his room and eavesdropped on the conversation between himself and Rudi.
Sometimes, Segara did forget that Micah was Karenina's son, a woman who grows up with so many wounds and tears that her clever brain has to go the extra mile to think about how to survive in the midst of the spinning of this damn world. Segara forgot that Micah inherited Karenina's intelligent brain, so that at her young age, the child already had so much curiosity about the world around her.
"Mikha," called Segara quietly after sitting on the edge of the mattress. His hand moved slowly rubbing Micah's head, as it was the only way to temper his near-explosive emotions.
There was no reply, Micah still insisted on continuing his charade so that Segara was forced to pull his hand from the little girl's head. He cleared his throat, then moved up on the mattress to make the small mattress sway.
Not stopping there, Segara began to stretch out his hands and his long fingers moved so agilely tickling Micah's tiny body that suddenly made the boy squirm like a hot worm.
Micah's crisp laughter flew, accompanied by screeches to request that Segara stop his long fingers tickling the child. But Segara will certainly not stop. He continued his actions until his laughter finally exploded as Micah turned around with a funny-looking annoyed look. Her little lips were cut, while her face was already red.
Automatic hand movements stop. k
"Daddy prank!" micah's protest, only to make Segara laugh more.
"Why the hell is Mikha tickling? Daddy's not happy playing with Om Ar, so disturb Micah sleep?" the boy got up, sat down cross-legged and joined in crossing his arms in front of his chest. His lips were getting pouted and his round eyes were glaring funny.
"What are you sleeping for?" Segara answered casually. His tone was not at all angry, but thanks to that sentence, Micah's facial expression changed instantly.
"Daddy knows you're not sleeping." Segara. His eyes looked at Micah seriously, trying to look deeper into the beautiful bead of his daughter that always reminded him of Karenina.
"Daddy's mad?" ask Micah at last. There was a fear hidden from behind the bead that was now shining brightly.
Segara shook his head, forcing a smile even though it was hard not to show his emotions that had not subsided. Then he moved closer, grabbed Micah's small body and landed him in his lap. He kissed Micah's head and left his lips there for quite a long time.
Then, in a calm and gentle voice, he said, "Daddy is not angry because you pretend to be asleep. But, Micah, Daddy doesn't like you eavesdropping on other people's talk like that. That's not polite, and Daddy never taught you to be a disrespectful kid."
On his lap, Micah was silent. His gaze fell on the image of the bear on the T-shirt that Segara was wearing, then his little fingers moved slowly touching the picture of the bear and rubbing it several times. Segara knew Micah understood his words. She believes Micah's intelligent brain is capable of digesting what she's saying and this little girl must be contemplating her mistakes.
"For this time, Daddy's sorry. But it can't be repeated, okay?" Segara lifted Micah's chin so that their spies could look at each other. And when that happened, Segara was forced to hold his breath as the round eyes looked watery. Micah was about to cry, with his lower lip advancing a few inches.
"Hey, don't cry. Daddy's not mad, honey. Daddy just wanted to let you know that eavesdropping is not a good thing to do. That's it." Segara said as he cupped Micah's kingpin's cheek, rubbing the soft skin with his thumb hoping it could help Micah to become calmer.
"Sorry, Daddy." Micah said softly, the tears that had originally only stagnated in his eyes now began to fall, soaking the cheeks of his lips that were still in the catches of the father.
Seeing his little daughter crying, Segara's heart suddenly hurt. Perih slowly crept up to his chest as his long fingers moved slowly wiping away the drops of tears flowing down Micah's cheeks.
"It's ok. Just promise me you won't do this again." Segara. The little body of Micah was cuddled and the little back was patted several times. "It's ok, honey. It's ok." His whisper, landing another kiss on the top of Micah's head.
On the verge of connecting door, Arkana stood watching the pair of father and son hugging. In his eyes, the two were like a house that was forced to stay firmly standing when one of the strongest supporting poles had first collapsed into small pieces that were then swept away by the wind, without any noise.
Karenina's departure is a grief, and the series of terror that Segara now receives is another suffering that feels no less painful.
Arkana took a long breath. His head felt full again just by rethinking everything that had happened over the past few months. Although he had struggled to exert energy to unravel one by one the problems that occurred to get to the roots, in the end he only found a way in front of him dead-end, dead-end, obstructed by a high wall that he did not know what was behind it.
