**Beginning at some time in the days of the kingdom of yore on this archipelago earth. These are two large Hindu kingdoms in Java. The Kingdom of Pengging with its king is Prabu Damar Moyo, the other Kingdom is the Kingdom of Pengging with its king Prabu Boko.

Then of course it can be guessed, a fierce battle ensued. The battle between the two kingdoms was very fierce and sacrificed many soldiers from both kingdoms.

Knowing the worsening situation then Prabu Damar Moyo sent his son, Prince Bandung Bondowoso to fight Prabu Boko and took his life.

When Bandung Bondowoso arrived at Keraton Boko, how surprised he saw that Prabu Boko had a very beautiful princess. Seeing the beauty of Roro Jonggrang is very tempting, making Bandung Bondowoso fall in love with him, and intend to interfere with him.

When knowing the intentions and actions of Bandung Bondowoso, then Princess Roro Jonggrang also launched a strategy that has been arranged by him. She told Bandung Bondowoso that she was willing to be made the wife of Bandung Bondowoso, but there are 2 conditions that must be met. Because already targeted with the beautiful Roro Jonggrang, Bandung Bondowoso was not able to meet these 2 requirements before marrying Roro Jonggrang.

The requirements that must be fulfilled by Bandung Bondowoso are:

Think of 1000 temples in one night.

The demand to build 1000 temples overnight is not an easy matter for Bandung Bondowoso even though he is famous for being very powerful. So he exerted all his strength and asked the Jinns for help to make 1000 temples for him, and the jinn were willing to help.

Knowing that Bandung Bondowoso asked for the help of jinn, Roro Jonggrang who actually only wanted to beat Bandung Bondowoso and not willing if Bandung Bondowoso could finish 1000 temples overnight, Roro Jonggrang twisted his brain and let out another stratagem. In order to thwart Bandung Bondowoso's efforts to build 1000 temples, he asked for help from the girls of his palace.

The girls were ordered to burn straw and pound mortar (traditional Javanese tool for pounding rice). Straw was burned so that it looks as bright as the morning when the sun began to rise. Then the dimples were beaten so that the chickens crowed the sign of the morning had arrived. 

When he heard the sound of beaten dimples, the roosters got up and started crowing all because they thought the morning had arrived. While the jinn who were working to build the temple saw the sky start to light up and the roosters started crowing, also thought that the day had been morning. Knowing the morning had arrived they also stopped their work to build the temple. 

Seeing the genies who suddenly stopped working because it was thought the morning had gone, Bandung Bondowoso was surprised and suspicious of what happened. Then Bondowoso called Roro Jonggrang to count all the temples that had been built. After counting the number, it turns out that the completed temple was only 999 pieces. 

Realizing the ruse of Roro Jonggrang, Bandung Bondowoso was angry and finally condemned Princess Roro Jonggrang to be the 1000th temple. It was miraculous that the body of Princess Roro Jonggrang turned into a stone statue. Not only that, Bandung Bondowoso also condemned the girls who had helped Roro Jonggrang become spinsters and for life they never married. 

Since that time Prambanan Temple began to be known to the community, and 100 temples around it. In addition Prambanan Temple is also known as Sewu Temple. The word Sewu if in Indonesian means a thousand.

Abymanyu who had listened to his mother told him only the signs of hearing and enjoying the story.
