First: The Word of God subhanahu wa ta’ala :
وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَا أَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا
“ And whosoever keeps the life of a man, it is as if he has preserved the life of all men. ” (Qs Al Maidah :32 )
In this verse, Allah praises everyone who preserves the life of man, including those who save mother and baby from death by performing abdominal surgery.
The Fiqhiyah rule reads :
إذَا تَعَارَضَ مَفْسَدَتَانِ رُوعِيَ أَعْظَمُهُمَا ضَرَرًا بِارْتِكَابِ أَخَفِّهِمَا
“ If there is a conflict between the two damage, then it is taken the lightest damage “
The explanation of the above rule is that cesarean section in an emergency there are two damages, the first is the threat of the mother's soul or child, while the second damage is the dissection of the mother's stomach.
Of the two damages, then the lightest is the dissection of the mother's stomach, then this action is taken to avoid greater damage, namely the threat of the soul of the mother and child.
