"Sir Al!"
Alvin was struck with a sculpting body, the voice of a small child that felt faint in memory made his heart seem to stop beating.
Yes, it was the voice of Alin, Alvin's long-dead brother in the accident.
"Sir Al!" Alvin heard the voice a second time.
Quickly Alvin looked back to find the whereabouts of his sister. But he found nothing there.
Alvin circulated his gaze, looking for the direction of the voice he had heard earlier. For the umpteenth time the voice was heard again.
"Sir Al." Alvin turned his head straight to the sound, looking at a little boy he knew who it was.
Yes, it was Alin, the younger brother who had been so missed by Alvin. Alvin tried to rub his eyes in disbelief at what he saw. However, the figure still remained and now walked up to him.
"Alin–" he murmured softly, with reddened eyes, holding back any turbulent taste within the chest.
With wide strides Alvin walked quickly over to the little girl.
"Alin, big brother misses out on you" said Alvin, kneeling and hugging the little girl, tightly.
Tears dripped down his cheeks, longing so deep, now gushing through sobs that he could not dam anymore. The sobbing that he had been trying to hide in the stubbornness he displayed.
"Sister, why are you here?" alin asked still in Alvin's arms.
Alvin frowned, he broke his embrace then looked at Alin's face inside.
"Where is Brother?" alvin was confused.
"Wouldn't you go with Alin, see you and Grandpa?" Instead of answering, Alin asked Alvin another question.
"Where are you going?" alvin asked, his eyes re-circulating looking around him. He was again surprised by the surrounding which has now turned into a vast savanna, with flowering grass.
"Vin?" One more call, made Alvin turn to look for the source of the voice.
Alvin again widened his eyes when he saw two male figures he missed so much were walking up to him.
"Grandfather, Father?" muttered Alvin, looking at the faces of the two men in turn.
Alin seemed to step into the middle of Grandfather and Father, they both saw Alvin so deeply.
Father and Grandfather seemed to smile warmly, then his hand patted Alvin's shoulder once, without letting go back.
"What are you doing here, son?" ask the Father in such a gentle and loving tone.
The cry of Alvin who had just stopped, now he could not take it anymore. Seeing the figure who had been his role model and became his life spirit made Alvin can no longer hold back his emotions.
His body trembled, with his face lowered deeply, hiding the tears that had been dripping down his cheeks.
"Father," said Alvin. He wanted to complain, he wanted to ask, also let out his complaints. However, somehow his lips looked faint, so that nothing could come out except that word.
"It's not yet time for you to be here, Vin. Now you better come back," said the father, gently rubbing Alvin's head.
"Bapak–" Alvin wants to refuse, he wants to be here along with Alin, Father, and Grandpa. Really, he had repeatedly wanted to give up on his life.
"Your path is long, son. Come back ...." Grandpa chimed in.
Alvin shook his head, inexplicably his tongue could not be moved to refuse the orders of his Father and Grandfather.
"Sister, should you go back, sir?" tanya Alin turned to the Father, who was immediately embraced by the Father.
"Patience .. soon you will be out of all this trouble. Now you have to go back," said the father again. She smiled trying to encourage her son.
"Close your head if you want to go back, son" the Father again commanded, taking one step back.
Alvin was silent for a while, he saw the faces of Father, Alin, and Grandpa alternately. It felt so heavy just to nod his head, he was reluctant to do so.
"You can, Vin," said the father again, who was embraced by Grandpa and Alin.
Somehow Alvin's head felt moving on its own, until finally he nodded, and at the same time Alin, Father, and Grandpa disappeared from view.
Alvin was surprised by all that, he circulated his gaze as far as he could see.
"Mr? The alin? Grandpa?" call Alvin while searching for the whereabouts of the three men. However, Alvin could not see the existence of the three of them at all.
.
.
"Try to stop in front" said a middle-aged man sitting in the back seat of a car.
The driver stopped the car he was driving. They both looked alert, though the middle-aged man was convinced that the person lying down was similar to the one he was familiar with.
"Let me see it first, sir," said the driver.
"We go out together, in order to take care of each other" the middle-aged man replied. He could not let his curiosity haunt, although he was also afraid it was a trap from a motorcycle gang that was rife lately.
Although heavy, the driver finally nodded then out along with the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man looked down at a young man who appeared to be lying on the side of the road under a large tree.
"Alvin?" the middle-aged man muttered, looking very surprised by what he saw.
"This is my friend's son. Let's take him to the hospital" the middle-aged man told the driver.
"We're going to the nearest hospital," the middle-aged man ordered as he lay Alvin's head on his lap.
"Vin, get up .. You have to be aware," said the man, patting Alvin's cheek slowly.
Moments later the car stopped in front of the hospital lobby not far from the scene.
Alvin was immediately taken to the ER, then performed first aid procedures.
"How is he doing?" asked the middle-aged man after waiting almost an hour outside the room.
"His injuries were quite severe, even though he made it through his critical period. For tonight the patient still has to be monitored" replied the doctor who handles Alvin.
"Alright, thank you, Doc," the middle-aged man nodded.
That night Alvin was in critical condition for the second time. However, the doctor can handle it and make Alvin now start to open his eyes.
Flash back off
The glare of light hitting the cornea made it difficult for Alvin to open his eyes even wider. The sound of a medical device that was clearly heard in the ear made Alvin very eager to open his eyes.
Where am I now? inner Alvin, asked.
"How are you doing?" asked a woman in nurse clothes who was standing next to him.
Alvin was silent he was still on the verge of being conscious and unconscious, his brain was still trying to accept the decision he took when meeting Alin, Father, and Grandpa.
"Can you hear my voice or see me?" ask the woman again after checking Alvin's vital signs.
"Hump your head or move your fingers, if you can hear and see me" the nurse ordered again.
Alvin slowly nodded his head. Making the nurse smile while exhaling a sigh of relief.
"Where are my eggs?" ask Alvin lirih.
"You're in XX hospital, Mr. Darmendra brought you here yesterday afternoon" he explained so kindly.
So this is no longer a dream? Father, Alin, and Grandpa? he remembered his dream that felt very real.
"You will be in this room until the doctor checks, if everything is good you can be transferred to the ward," continued the woman who was only vaguely taken by Alvin.
"I'll excuse you then."
"Thank you" said Alvin, in a stammering voice.
"It's our job" the nurse replied with a gentle smile.
Alvin exhaled when he saw the woman had gone out of the room. Dian looked at the ceiling of the room that looked clean white.
Thank you for meeting me even in my dreams. I'm happy to meet you, Alvin's inner memory of Father, Alin, and Grandpa.
Alvin smiled faintly, his longing slightly healed, even though it was only in a dream. Not long after he frowned, as his memory was distracted by the woman's words.
"Mr Darmendra?" muttered Alvin, recalling the nurse's words.
