He chuckled, staring at his empty phone. He sees the last date Jani sent him a message. Turns out it was more than a week ago.

Alvin never realized that for more than three years, he had only contacted Jani a few times first. That's also if Jani is sick, or there are affairs that require him to go out of town without his family.

"Hey, why did I realize that I had never been there for him, but he was always there for me" muttered Alvin while leaning on his body.

The man turned a blind eye to recall the past between himself and Jani. Starting from their meeting on the bus, when he tried to first return to Jakarta, after three years of knowledge. Then meet back on campus, and keep in touch until now.

The woman even freely accepted her rejection, and asked them to stay close even if it was just as a friend.

It turns out that after so many years passed, Jani kept his promise, the woman never asked for more relationship with him. Although sometimes his attitude is a little spoiled, as if looking for attention.

At first Alvin did feel uncomfortable with all that, he who did not even like physical contact with fellow men, felt increasingly disturbed by their closeness.

However, the longer Alvin gets used to, Jani can even make him more relaxed, even though he knows that Jani is a woman who likes him, and may be expecting more relationships from him.

Now, when Jani lost the news in just a few days, he was confused about how. During this time only Jani was always there for him, being a chatty woman who always asked him anything.

Alvin opened his eyes again, he again saw the message that was always sent by Jani to him.

Princess: [Morning, Alvin. Don't forget to eat breakfast before you go to work. Spirit💪🤩]

Princess: [Don't forget lunch. Spirit💪 You are the best!]

Princess: [Be careful on the road, yes. Let me know when I get home🤍]

It was a couple of messages that Jani was sending over and over again, almost every day at the same time. Sometimes he didn't even reply to messages from the woman.

"Geeh!" Alvin exhaled again.

He was completely unaware that he had been used to Jani by his side. Or maybe it was himself who always rejected all that, because he still felt they were different castes.

Well, maybe it will all be answered as time goes by, because sometimes there is something that only takes time for us to understand.

"Assalamualaik." Alvin was aghast when the voice of someone who was haunting his mind suddenly flashed in his ears, resuscitating him from daydreams.

"Vin, diapelin girlfriend tuh!" the voices of the men gathered in the post.

Alvin who initially only thought that the sound was his illusion, finally realized and immediately turned his head to look at the front of the contract.

His eyes widened as he looked at Jani who was standing there, with gasping breaths. His nose looked moist and red, like someone after crying.

Alvin stood up and walked over to the woman, never expecting Jani to come to his contract in the middle of the night like this.

I don't know where the brothers and Papah who had always been guarding Jani with very possessive. Why did this woman escape the curfew, and come to her contract?

"Jani, why did you come here at night?" alvin asked with his worried face.

"Who's in here, hem?" Alvin turned to look behind Jani, looking for a figure who might bring Jani here, whether it was family or maybe a driver.

However, Alvin did not find a single person behind Jani at all, except the fathers in the post who were stealing glances at him.

Without warning Jani immediately hugged Alvin, to make Alvin widen his eyes. His body pecked, receiving a sudden hug from a woman, other than Mama, Alin, and his Grandma.

The fathers in the post immediately cheered, as if watching a fun romance drama.

"Jani, please let go first, we are not mahram," said Alvin, while trying to push Jani's shoulder to release his hand from his body.

Jani shook his head, he even more tightened his embrace on Alvin's body.

"I'm getting married" Jani said suddenly, still hugging Alvin.

Alvin was surprised, a frown on his forehead was clearly visible, when he heard the soft words of Jani.

"You're being fooled?" alvin asked, he often heard that rich people would match their children with business partners.

Jani shook her head, she sobbed without letting go of her embrace.

"Then why, hem?" ask Alvin again.

"Let's sit down first, it looks like you are not well" continued Alvin while leading Jani to sit in the front seat of the contract.

Alvin crouched down in front of Jani, as his hands were not at all released by Jani.

"Tell me first, what happened, hem?" ask Alvin softly. His gaze was very cool, making Jani's cries unstoppable.

"I just want to marry you. I want to stay with you, Vin," Jani said in between sobs.

Alvin looked at the old Jani, he wiped away the tears that kept flowing soaking down the smooth cheeks of the woman in front of him.

Alvin seemed to breathe out softly, before returning to talk to Jani.

"Jani, listen to me first, yes," Alvin said.

"Wouldn't it be something that is playful we should think about it carefully first, before deciding to marry someone."

"But, I've thought about it," said Jani, with her head lowered deeply.

Alvin again exhaled softly before continuing his words.

"Marriage is not just about two people, or even a short time. Marriage is about family, it's also about how we're going to spend the rest of our lives in the world together with other people."

"Jani, honestly .. I'm not even ready to start a relationship, let alone a marriage. I have not been able to leave the responsibility to Mamah, and have not been able to add one more responsibility" explained Alvin.

"Say if you have never seen me. You don't want to marry me, do you?" accuse Jani in a desperate tone.

"Not so, Jani–"

"You have a boyfriend behind me?!" cut off Jani before Alvin continues his words.

Alvin looked surprised, he knitted his brows, looking at Jani with puzzled eyes.

"I don't have a relationship with anyone, Jani."

"Don't lie!"

"Did you ever see me lying?"

"But I saw you go with another woman." Jani still does not believe in Alvin.

"When" Where is it? I never went out with other women, except colleagues, it was because of fieldwork" explained Alvin.

Maybe now he already knows what exactly is happening at this time. Jani misunderstood her, the woman thought she had another relationship behind her without telling her first.

"Already, now I'd better take you home. Wait for me to get the jacket first," continued Alvin again, standing up and getting into the contract.

He took a jacket for Jani, as well as wearing a jacket for himself.

"Come on." Alvin helped Jani stand up, then helped him wear a jacket he then took out Mang Lukman's bike, to take Jani home.
