Alvin arrived at the village, when the sun was no longer shining, Mang Lukman who heard Darman was sick also came home to visit him.

"Vin, thank goodness you've arrived." Imran, who was in charge of picking up Alvin, immediately approached his brother when Alvin had just got off the car.

"Ran, grandpa's okay, right?" ask Alvin.

Throughout the journey his heart really felt unsettled, his mind was always fixed on his grandfather's condition.

"You better see for yourself, he kept calling your name since this morning, so we were forced to tell you" Imran replied with a look of guilt.

"What do you mean, Ran? Didn't you always tell me that Grandpa and Grandma were okay? Then, now why the sudden condition of the grandfather drooping?" brondong Alvin's.

Imran took Alvin's backpack and put it in front of the bike, and then started pulling the accelerator as Alvin got up behind him.

"As you know, my grandfather has long had high blood pressure and blood sugar, coupled with his old age, making lately his disease often recur suddenly," imran explained.

"Then, why didn't anyone tell me, Ran? Don't-don't-don't if grandpa doesn't call me, you'll never tell me about grandpa's condition, huh?" Alvin presses down on every word, holding back the anger he almost vents at Imran.

Disappointed to his family and Imran, for never being honest about his grandfather's condition, made Alvin's chest feel tight, as if there was a big stone hitting him. He wanted to shout blame to all those people who did not understand his feelings.

However, Alvin realized that he could not do all that, no matter how angry Alvin, he was, he still will not be able to hate the family that has always been there when his parents can no longer be his back.

"It's not so, Vin. We just don't want college and work to be disturbed by this news, let alone you just entered work there, where maybe you will immediately ask for leave to see grandfather," imran explained.

Alvin no longer answered, he could not digest what Imran had just said. What might they not know is that his grandparents are so precious to him, he would even sacrifice his life, if it was for the sake of that old pair of people.

Alvin seemed to sigh repeatedly, he could see from a distance that at the house of his grandfather and grandmother there were many brothers and sisters who were sitting.

"Assalamualaikum," said Alvin, as he began to kiss the backs of the hands one by one of the people who were there.

"Waalainkumsalam. Finally the one who was waiting came too," said one of the people who was there.

Alvin just smiled, he then stepped inside the house. She could see her grandmother sitting on a chair, her body looked thinner, when compared to the last they met, her face was also sad.

"Assalamualaikum, Grandma," said Alvin, kneeling before his grandmother, he immediately took his grandmother's hands and kissed her.

"Vaalaikumsalam. Alvin, have you come, son?" said Grandma Esih while rubbing her grandson's face.

"Yes, Grandma. Alvin is here now" replied Alvin with teary eyes.

Imran's mother, who appeared to be sitting next to Esih's Grandmother, was moved to see the affection between Alvin and his grandmother.

Alvin held his Grandma's hand while walking hand-in-hand into the room. Grandpa Darman was lying there with his eyes closed.

"Sir, look who's coming" said Grandma Esih, sitting next to Grandpa Darman, she stroked Darman's hand which looked already very wrinkled.

"Assalamualaikum, Cake. It's Alvin" Alvin said, taking his grandfather's hand and kissing him long enough.

Seeing his grandfather's condition that seemed very weak, made his heart feel very sick. He felt useless as a grandson, nor could he give happiness to his grandfather.

One tear drop seemed to escape the fertilizer just like that, the fear of losing it back made it fall.

Slowly Grandpa Darman began to open his eyes, there was a coughing sound several times from the old man.

"There's Alvin, sir. Grandson, Father, has come, so now, Father, must be healed yes," asked Grandma Esih.

"Grandfather, this is Alvin. Sorry, Alvin came late for nengokin, Grandpa," said Alvin.

His hand continued to hold Grandpa Darman's hand, as if Alvin didn't want to leave him or be left behind.

Grandpa Darman seemed to smile, seeing the grandson he had taken care of was in front of him. He seemed to be trying to get up, even though his body was already so weak.

Alvin swiftly helped Grandpa Darman to lean on the head of the bed. Imra and her mother stand at the door, seeing how happy Grandpa Darman is to see Alvin.

"You're a big boy now, Vin," Daraman said as he held Alvin's upper arm.

Alvin tried to smile while nodding. "Yes, Cake. Now Alvin is big, added handsome again," replied Alvin ended with a small ruckus he end he said, although he could not lie his reddened eyes held back the sadness.

Grandpa Darman chuckled with Alvin's joke. "Where is your college, Vin? Grandpa with you also now works in the office huh?" ask Darman.

"Alhamdulillah, Alvin's lecture was smooth, now Alvin has also gotten a better job," he replied, bowing his head, hiding the water that had fallen back in his eyes.

"Grandfather is happy, now you can be independent." Grandpa Darman looked happy smiling.

That night Alvin seemed unwilling away from Darman, nor could he sleep well. Alvin would wake up once in thirty minutes just to go see his snickering state.

He had a conversation with his mother Imran to ask the true condition of Grandpa Darman. From there Alvin just found out that Grandpa Darman had been back and forth examined to the clinic, because his blood pressure and blood sugar were unstable.

Imran's mother also apologized, as she prevented Imran from telling Alvin about all this. They were just afraid it would make Alvin worried and interfere with Alvin's study and work process in Jakarta.

"Yes, Bi. Alvin understood." That's the only answer Alvin can give when they're talking to each other. He then chose to go into his room. His body and mind were so tired, that he felt like being alone, to recover his condition

Imran and his father also seemed to choose to stay there, they slept in the living room, with a folding mattress as the base. The stone house felt lonely, after the night had almost reached its middle.
