"You rarely go back to the village now, Vin?" imran asked as they walked towards the musala.
"You know, right, after Grandpa died, the village was no longer the right place for me to go home. What's more Grandma is also now living in your house" replied Alvin.
Yes, after Grandpa Darman and Alvin returned to the city Grandma lived with the Imran family, they did not allow Grandma to live alone. The house is cleaned every day, without being occupied.
"There's still my family, Vin. Anyway just let them say what, the important thing is you don't do what they're accused of." Imran tries to give Alvin some understanding.
"Yes, I know .. Your family is sincere with me. Later if I have time, In Shay Allah I return to the village," nod Alvin, although in the heart is still a little stuck.
Out of nowhere, a few months after Grandpa Darman died, in the village suddenly spread a bad rumor about Alvin, they thought that Alvin had been dependent on life for Grandpa Darman, who had been living with him, until finally Grandpa Darman was sick and died from financing Alvin's college in Jakarta.
They all said that Alvin was the cause of Grandpa Darman's death, they also said that Alvin would not be able to continue his studies because the person who financed him had died.
Alvin who did not accept immediately denied all that and tried to explain to his own family. However, the rumors have already grown, until the explanation is only considered nonsense.
"I never once took money from Grandpa, after I graduated High School. In Jakarta I went to college on a scholarship and worked to pay for my life there," Alvin debates as he returns home to attend Grandpa Darman's hundred days.
"Either, reason. It's clear that Grandpa Darman died of soy sauce looking for money to finance your lifestyle in Jakarta, "sewot one of Bibi Alvin himself.
Alvin shook his head faintly, never thinking that his family would prefer to believe in baseless rumors from others, compared to his own words, as a family member.
"You in Jakarta can only waste money! Then anyway use all college, already know expensive. Mending money is made for business capital rather than for college. What can a diploma do to eat?" added one of his other aunts, who immediately got a nod from almost everyone there.
They do not know, if Alvin had been studying also at the encouragement of Grandpa Darman. It was Grandfather Darman who continued to convince himself to continue his education until college, as you want during life.
"I know, Vin. You can only take advantage of Grandpa Darman's affection. You've earned a lot of money from him, so this time don't ever expect to get another inheritance from Grandpa Darman!" One of Alvin's uncles yelled at Alvin.
Alvin, who was trying to explain the rumors, while trying to remain patient with all the allegations made by his own family, finally understood the real problem.
It's all about inheritance. Alvin smiled faintly as he shook his slices, his clenched hands firmly restraining the emotion that had almost exploded right then and there. It's even only been a hundred days since Grandpa Darman died, Grandma Esih is still alive, and they've had a fuss over the inheritance? It's really unbelievable.
"Heuh, so all this is just about Grandpa Darman's legacy? Uncle and Aunt are afraid I'm receiving an inheritance from Grandpa, aren't you?!" Alvin said cynically, only this time did he act presumptuously at the person older than him at the moment.
If Grandpa Darman is still alive, Alvin is sure he will be scolded by his Grandpa. However, now that he could not remain silent, that fact made him inflamed, unable to accept arbitrary treatment from Grandpa Darman's children who really did not know themselves. From the beginning Alvin already knew that they never liked his presence, especially Grandpa Darman and Grandma Esih, very looks doting on him compared to his other grandchildren.
However, Alvin never thought that it turns out they also have a bad heart and greedy, so could talk to him like that just because of a treasure relic of his Grandfather.
"It's not just about inheritance? You were just a kid yesterday afternoon, so don't interfere with our business!" Uncle Alvin is back on the attack.
"Yes, we're involving you here, not to fight. But just to listen, so shut up and stay there. Understood it! You crazy kid!" hardik was rough on one of his uncles.
Alvin was more inflamed he looked at his uncle's eyes with hatred, his face was red with burning anger that had gone up to the crown.
"My mom is not crazy! But–" jolted Alvin.
Alvin who understood all that immediately fell silent, he tried to catch his hunting breath, and returned to being calm. While the other uncles and aunts even began to busy talking about the division of inheritance.
"But what about Grandma? He's still around, still alive today, and you're busy thinking about inheritance?!" Alvin was forced to speak up again, to defend Nenenk Esih. He was already quite upset to see everything was just thinking of himself, whereas the surviving Grandma did not see them at all.
"Grandmother can stay with one of us. We will guarantee Grandma's life is fine and fulfilled, even if Grandpa's property has been shared," replied one of her uncles in a cynical tone.
"Again, why are you using Grandma, huh? Are you afraid you won't be able to ask Grandma for more money, huh? Or afraid that no one will give you this inheritance?" connect her aunt in a mocking tone.
Alvin was again infuriated with unfounded words from them.
"I could have sworn, never expected a penny from Grandpa and Grandma. I know enough myself as a grandson, what else is Grandma still alive, does she also still need income to meet her food stamps?" refute Alvin again, spread his eyes staring at one by one the faces who are now holding an impromptu meeting in the middle room of Grandpa Darman's own house.
"So you hope Grandma Esih still has to work at her old age, huh?!" They even reverse Alvin's words, to attack Alvin himself.
"That's not what I mean! I–" Alvin hasn't had time to finish his words one of his Uncle just cut it off.
"Not much of your talk, Vin. You hope that Grandma Esih will still work to finance your lifestyle, right?! You're a bitch!" hardik one of his own uncles.
"Mang!" Alvin jolted, he did not accept being considered a benefactor by his own family.
"Alvin, already!" His father Imran who had only noticed since then finally gave Alvin his instruption.
Alvin immediately glanced at his father Imran, his breath was seen hunting holding back the anger that was controlling his body, his chest felt hot as if it was burning. Just this time Alvin felt a great anger like this.
If noticed since then there is a shocked face of everyone who was there, as Alvin continues to argue and look brave to fight. All because Alvin has always been quiet.
"Vin, you better take Grandma to Mamang's house," Father Imran ordered, seeing Grandma Esih since then only speechless with eyes staring blankly.
"Astag." Alvin who had just regained his senses from emotion, immediately rubbed his face, when he saw the pale face of Grandma Esih.
He immediately woke up and invited Grandma Esih out of the house.
"Sorry, Grandma. Alvin was not able to control emotions," said Alvin while leading Grandma Esih to the house of Imran.
After the death of Alvin and Grandma Esih, they were still talking about the issue of inheritance, until Alvin learned his decision the inheritance was still distributed, except for the house of Grandma Esih, and the garden around it.
Since then, Alvin has been lazy to return to the village, if there is no urgent need. It felt like seeing the faces of those who once blatantly insulted her, it was already very painful, she did not want to get back out of control when she heard them again talking carelessly about her.
Alvin did not want to make Grandma Esih sad again because of the differences with her other uncles and aunts.
Now for him, returning home only for Grandma Esih and the Imran family, not for others. Enough is enough that he knows the nature of them, and Alvin would rather avoid them, than have to continue harboring resentment when he meets them.
Without feeling Alvin and Imran had arrived in front of the musala, they immediately entered to perform the congregational magrib prayer.
At night Alvin, Imran, and Mang Lukman slept together in the front room, while Mang Lukman's room was occupied by Grandma Esih.
