ALVIN Trying to Rise
Harvests

...Happy Reading's...

......................

Almost a year after the accident, Alvin is now accustomed to the life he lived.

Working while attending school, coupled with helping his grandparents, became a daily routine that Alvin lived through.

The job of picking up conch is now Sunday or free time, considering that it is harvest season, until his grandparents were busy in the fields, and needed his help.

At times Alvin also accepted other jobs, offered by neighbors, such as helping one of his uncles, work as a building porters, during his off days.

From light work, to heavy work, such as helping to transport rice, Alvin did, to raise money.

Forgetting rest and health conditions have often done the teenager, until his grandmother sometimes nagged warned him.

Caring for the body was no longer able to do as he used to, now Alvin's skin looks darker than before, so sometimes he also get bullied at school because of his appearance.

However, it was not a barrier for Alvin, to continue to have achievements, he even had several times to participate in the race to represent his school.

"Hi, Alvin, congratulations, yesterday you won again" Milka said, as soon as Alvin entered the class.

Alvin smiles a flash at one of the girls who became an idol at school. "Thank you, Milka."

Yes, yesterday Alvin and some of his schoolmates, selected to take part in the district level math competition. They finally won the first championship.

"To celebrate your victory, how about we treat you to a meal?" milka said excitedly.

"No need, I've brought supplies from home" Alvin refused.

Yes, because of the bullying done by Dandi and his friends, now one school already knows about Alvin's true condition.

However, despite that, not making his other school friends, stay away from Alvin. They even more amazed at Alvin, because behind the limitations of the material and busy work, Alvin also can still excel in school.

"You eat with us in the cafeteria. On this day I will deal, so you do not have to pay," said Milka a little forcing.

Alvin seemed to be sitting in his chair, which is what he did not like when people found out about his family's condition. Many of his schoolmates pitied him and underestimated him.

"I really can't .. sorry," Alvin refused again.

"Yeah, you're so arrogant, Vin. You should be grateful that there are still people who want to invite you to eat for free .. when else try there is a chance kayak gini?" Pras who had just arrived suddenly joined the conversation of Alvin and Milka.

Alvin stared at Pras's face, who was the son of one of the high-ranking officials at the school, he could only hide his regret every time he experienced the ridicule and even the bullying done by Pras, Dandi and his friends.

Alvin knew what he would experience if he was determined to fight the rich children.

"What the hell are you, Pras?! No need to interfere," said Milka, staring dislike Pras.

"I was just trying to resuscitate this poor boy, Milka," Pras replied giving an excuse.

"Don't keep interfering in my business, Pras," said Milka, ketus.

"Whatever! All you have to know is that my brother doesn't like you being in touch with this poor boy. So don't blame me for continuing to block you two, because you belong to my sister, Milka!" press Pras, look at Alvin and Milka alternately.

"I don't belong to anyone, Pras!" Milka stared intently at Pras.

While Alvin chose silence while starting to pull out his book, considering that soon the doorbell will have.

No one really knows for sure the relationship between Milka and Dandi. However, Dandi always said that they were dating, even though Milka continued to deny it.

Moments later the bell rang, followed by the teacher who entered the classroom. Until finally Milka and Pras sat back in their respective places.

"Huh, finally." Alvin breathed a sigh of relief, after the two men left his desk.

The weekend arrived, after the morning prayers Alvin immediately prepared to go to the rice fields. Yes, today Alvin will help his grandparents harvest rice.

Alvin leaves first with Darman, while Esih still prepares breakfast and lunch for her husband and granddaughter.

The morning atmosphere was still cold, with the dew still clinging to the leaves, soaking Alvin's feet.

The cool feel, along with the typical rustic air, makes a fresh taste in the body.

Almost all men who work as farmers, going to the rice fields since the morning atmosphere is still dim.

Some do have their own rice fields, like his grandfather. There are also, who only become farm laborers, from the owners of the rice fields, who do not have time to take care of it.

They take advantage of the morning cool to cut rice trees from the rice fields, so as not to feel too tired due to the hot sun.

This is the second time Alvin has had the harvest season, after living with his grandparents. He already knows enough, how the people work in the village, when taking rice.

"Vin, you take the one over there, yes," pointed Darman at one side of his rice field.

"Well, Cake," replied Alvin, nodding obediently.

He also took a small sickle that looks jagged in the sharp part, sharp weapon, was made specifically to cut rice trees.

Deftly, Arif took one by one the clumps of rice in the rice field, he collected them on the former rice tree fault, so that the grains are not exposed to water.

Sometimes Alvin seemed to stand for a while, to stretch the waist muscles that felt tense, because he had to continue to lower half his body, in order to easily reach the rice clump.

The eyes of the day were slowly starting to appear in his quarrel. As a sign that soon the wives will come, with provisions in each hand.

"Vin, stop first. Let's breakfast!" said Esih who just came.

Alvin straightened his body, looking in the direction his grandparents were. He approached the two old men who were sitting in their huts.

"Here, breakfast first," call Darman.

It was not only Darman and Esih who were in that simple hut. There are also some neighbors of the rice field, who took a break and breakfast together.

Alvin first cleaned his dirty hands using water deliberately dammed near the hut, for them to wash their hands.

Everyone who was there also took out their provisions, to share and exchange side dishes into something that was common.

Alvin enjoys eating in a typical rural setting, with friendly locals and rice fields as its main sights.

An atmosphere that could not be obtained if he was in the city, such as when his father and sister were still there.
