The Great War of Rhodesia

The Great War of Rhodesia
31. New Armament II

"Try to slash the wooden doll, Mr. Caspian," Aksa ordered as they stood before the adult man's tall wooden doll.

Caspian unhesitatingly shook off the sword with all his might. With the intention of splitting the wooden doll's body into two. And as a result the knife blade stuck in a few inches on the left shoulder of the wooden doll.

"Pretty balanced. However its shape and weight will affect the speed of the user when performing the swing." Caspian gives a judgment.

"Now try to slide the switch down" said Aksa, pointing at a small switch at the top of the trigger. "Then pull the trigger" he added later with orders.

Without asking, Caspian shifted the metal rod Aksa meant down. And along with that, the bullet cylinder part also changed position. The previous one in the vertical position follows the straight line of the blade and the handle, now becomes horizontal.

And although Caspian was quite impressed with the mechanical movement of the weapon, it did not make him delay to pull the trigger.

The sound of an explosion was heard along with the spinning of the bullet cylinder. But this time it was not as loud as the previous long-barreled rifle explosion.

Smoke came out from the sidelines of the cylindrical cavity. But strangely there were no bullets coming out of the weapon. It was as if nothing had happened other than the sound of the explosion.

But what actually happened was; the position of the sword blade now stuck deeper than before. Caspian was the first to notice. Because he felt a jolt right when the trigger was pressed.

"Pull the trigger again, Mr. Caspian," Aksa ordered again.

Returning without asking, Caspian pulled the trigger. This time a few times quickly.

A series of re-suspended explosive sounds were heard, and smoke with a distinctive smell of burnt gunpowder was seen billowing.

And now the position of the sword blade is right in the middle of the chest of the wooden doll. Without Caspian using force to suppress it.

Everyone seems impressed and curious about how this can happen.

"I know those confused faces thirsting for knowledge" Aksa said after seeing the reaction of the others. "Don't worry. I'll explain it to you guys" he added later.

Hearing this makes everyone seem worried about the explanation that Aksa will give.

"So this Blade Gun uses kinetic energy aka vibration and jolt from the explosion released by gunpowder," continued Aksa without waiting for a response from others. "So instead of pushing a bullet, the blast would push a piston that gives this cool weapon extra thrust."

"Oh, so that's why this sword has a blade thick enough before the sharp part?" Caspian, who had pulled the weapon from the body of the wooden doll, was now seen observing carefully the part around the bullet cylinder.

"Yep. That's right, Mr. Caspian. Thanks to the hardy metal, Dracz. So how much and how hard the piston is to punch, the skeleton and blade of the sword will not be damaged," Aksa replied in a tone that began to sound haughty.

"So this gun can't shoot bullets?" Caspian turned the sword around, trying to see the tip of the metal rod that looked like a gun barrel.

"No. You may be fooled by the iron rod that looks like a barrel of a rifle, and also the cylinder where the bullet is," Aksa replied. "In the cylinder it was filled with bullets. A special type that has no projectile. So it's just a shell where the gunpowder is just," he explained.

"Then what is the use of metal like the barrel of this rifle?"

"Oh, that. Try Mr. Caspian, turn the switch back up. Then point the Blade Gun in a piercing position in front of the wooden puppet," Aksa replied with direction. "And pull the trigger" he added later.

Caspian followed Aksa's direction. And after the bullet cylinder part of the weapon returned to its original position, he immediately put the horses in a piercing position with the tip of the sword fixed to the belly of the wooden doll. And then pull the trigger.

Along with the sound of the explosion and the spinning of the bullet cylinder, the gun barrel-like part suddenly extended along with a portion of the knife blade.

Seen inside the gun barrel-like rod, another metal rod attached to the frame of the bullet cylinder. It was the metal that pushed part of the blade and the skeleton of the weapon forward lengthwise.

Everyone seemed surprised, not anticipating it. No exception Caspian. His right hand felt a bit of pain due to an unexpected jolt as his knife blade returned to its original position.

"Before you try to guess it, I will tell you," Aksa said quickly. "So the metal that is like the barrel of a gun is also a piston. Which is at once the framework for the knife blade," he explained later.

"But compared to when doing the slash earlier, the jolt in the piercing position this time is too strong and has the potential to harm the user." Caspian was seen moving fingers and his grip felt slightly numb due to the jolt.

"The idea of such a game is indeed not going to be effective in the real battleground, Aks. No soldier will be able to use it" Nata said.

"Yes, this Blade Gun does have a lot of room for improvement." Aksa.

"And more energy is wasted at home than when you use that gunpowder to shoot bullets." Nata added his assessment. "Not to mention, backfire jolts it at the user."

"Hey, at least this sword is usable and also cool." Aksa's looking for a defense. "Now I'm in the middle of making a version of his axe."

"What is the same weapon as this one?" caspian asked, pointing at the other Gun Blade. Which has a smaller and slimmer shape, with a color that is not too striking.

Because it was different from the one Caspian was holding, the other weapon was from the handle to the knife blade, all in black opaque, with a slight accent of red lines in some places.

"Or is it just a different material? Because the shape and texture of the knife are different," asked Caspian again.

"Oh, no. This Blade Gun is not the same as that one. This is especially for me," replied Aksa while taking the weapon.

The Blade also has a bullet cylinder at the meeting of the blade with the handle. It's just that there's no gun barrel at all. The handle also looked straight like a sword handle in general. Which makes it difficult to press the trigger next to the bullet cylinder.

And not the same as Gun Balde before. This weapon has streaks such as lines and circles on the blade of the knife. Two-edged and looks slim. But not symmetrical like the swords commonly used by knights.

"Unlike the white one, Gun Blade is just a blend of sword and rifle" Aksa said with a big smile.

"That means that it can shoot bullets? Why don't I see the barrel?" Caspian looked curious about the weapon. Because at first glance the appearance is not like an ordinary sword. It's just having a bullet cylinder between the handle and the knife blade.

"Yes, this Blade Gun can shoot." Aksa nodded small. "That's because I also want to have a sword that is also a rifle. But I don't like heavy carry-on like that" he added, casually bending the handle of the gun towards the trigger. Then pull the tip of the blade as if it were about to fold it.

Everyone was shocked by what Aksa had just done to the weapon. Because now the shape of the sword becomes more like a gun with the taper end of the knife blade is right above a short barrel that was previously covered by the body of the knife.

"Oh, so that's the barrel" Caspian said when he found the weapon was like a gun with a few oraments, in Aksa's grasp.

"I also want this Gun Blade like a multipurpose folding knife," said Aksa still with a wide smile. Seen he was happy can make people surprised and impressed with the design of the weapon.

"This is even more useful" said Nata took the weapon from Aksa's hands. Then observe the parts carefully.

"Clearly. I did deliberately make this particular Gun Blade cooler than the others" replied Aksa who looked proud.

After that people started trying the weapons that have been introduced before until then Lucia stopped it.

"So to speed up this meeting, please continue the explanation for the protective part, Nat. Let the matters relating to those weapons, we proceed after this meeting is over" Lucia ordered later.
