The Great War of Rhodesia
19. Fire Sword

The large group who wanted to see Parpera's action earlier, is now back in the building. Huddle in the sword training area.

While the Morra girl with a dark blue cone hat was already preparing with a sword in her hand. Standing before the straw-lined wooden puppet.

The flat sword along the arm of the adult man made of a mixture of iron and charcoal, was lifted forward, drawing out toward the wooden puppet.

The others stood watching from behind the girl in a safe distance.

Then Parpera began to do the tidying, and this time no circular light appeared. But the blade of the sword began to be enveloped by the tongue of fire.

"Oh, as it turns out," said Nata who did not expect that the intended sword of fire would look like that.

"Look like the equipment that is often used by fire dancers," said Aksa who was not impressed to see the fire sword.

Parperan walked up to the wooden puppet that was commonly used to practice slashing the sword. Then with a weak swinging motion, Parpera slapped her fire sword towards the wooden puppet.

And with just a single slash, the straw wrapped in the wooden puppet was instantly charred in flames. Following the previous Parpera pattern.

"Hm. will obviously burn the rapids. But not the wood." Aksa gave his assessment. His face looked a little disappointed. Because he expected high from the magic sword after seeing how the magic bullet had worked.

"really. Because the heat of the fire is not too high." Rafa.

"Can you add the heat even higher, Miss Parpera?" pinta Nata then slightly shouted to Parpera.

"could. The heat will be felt by the user. Or people around him. Like this," said Parpera who then did the rap once again.

Parpera pointed her sword away from her body. And the tongue of fire that wrapped the sword's eyes grew bigger and wild.

"Oh, like a torch now" Aksa chirped as he frowned.

"How can it be used to attack when holding his sword alone is difficult like that" said Nata who was not to anyone.

Feeling unable to stand the heat from the direction of her hand, Parpera quickly thrust her sword towards the wooden puppet.

All the hay around the wooden doll was burned. Got a flame from the center of the sword stab earlier.

"Wow, spectacular" said Aksa, sounding cynical.

The witch quickly pulled her sword from the wooden doll, then swung it down to put out the fire on the blade.

It was seen that the blade of the sword was emitting faint smoke after the fire had vanished. The color of the blade that was shiny, now looks charred and becomes dull.

"And now this weapon is not as strong as before" said Parpera who walked closer to the audience. "Let Mr. Vossler test it" he added, handing over the sword to Vossler.

Vossler accepted it and then walked up to a Yllgarian Tiger Beetle at the end of the line.

After giving the order, the Yllgarian immediately set the horses ready, drew his sword, then slashed it towards Vossler.

Vossler deftly fended off the slash with the sword given by Parpera earlier.

Klang's! And the tip of Vossler's sword was broken.

"It should have been a new sword made by the Eastern Star broken after one hundred to one hundred and fifty hits." Vossler gave me the information.

"Yes, I understand," Nata replied, nodding in understanding.

"Don't damage the weapon, with magic like that, there is even damage to the user if used often," said Aksa chimed.

"It will be more efficient if we do not use it at all" said Aksa cynically.

"What in such fire magic can its user manipulate its level?" Nata asked Parpera.

"Manipulating levels?" Parpera does not understand Nata's question.

"What do you mean to change its shape into a fireball or fire arrow?" Rafa tried to ascertain Nata's question.

"No. I mean the temperature. Heat it until it changes color." Nata tried to explain. "Because what I saw earlier, Miss Parpera just increased the fire. And because of that the heat also spread to users," he continued later.

"I don't understand what you mean, Mr. Nata." Parpera scrunched her forehead.

"Nata means that like blue fire" Aksa said suddenly.

"Blue fire?" Rafa and Parpera asked with faces looking confused, as if representing the rest of the people who were in that place.

"You never saw him?" Aksa asked back with a face of disbelief.

"We've never seen it." Parpera answered quickly.

"The fire is usually present in volcanoes that have a lot of beleran gas" Aksa replied later. "Oh! Otherwise, I'll ask Val to make a tool to make the blue fire.

"Can you make a blue flame?" Parpera was a little surprised, but also seemed excited to hear Aksa's words.

"Tomorrow if it is so I will show," replied Aksa promising.

"I can't wait for it, Mr. Aksa," said Parpera, who looked like she really wanted to see the blue fire.

"And as for the previous thing, so what do you mean by increasing the temperature instead of enlarging the fire earlier, Mr Nata?" Parpera who felt interested and curious continued her question to Nata. "Didn't the heat of the fire increase as the fire grew?"

"really. But the heat of a fire can increase without having to be great. We can make his tongue not flutter wildly." Nata tried to explain.

"The shape of the flame can be changed? I never knew about it." This time Rafa was curious.

"Yes, actually if we figure out how a fire works, we can manipulate its shape by applying pressure to the oxygen it burns." Aksa said he was trying to explain.

"Oh, I understand," said Rafa then with a small nod.

"No. I don't understand. How do you add pressure to a fire? And what is oxygen?" timpal Parpera fast.

While the rest of the people who were around them were only able to fall silent unable to follow the explanation of Nata and Aksa like Parpera.

"In that case, the fire can survive burning because it burns components in the air. So if we can move the air, then the shape of the fire will also change." Nata tried as much as possible to simplify his explanation to make it easy to understand.

Yet it seemed like Parpera and the others were still unable to understand it.

"But I don't know also whether fire magic works like fire in general. Because I can't use magic" Nata continued later.

"But in theory if the shape of the fire magic can be changed to be slimmer, I mean the flame tongue, and can still maintain or even add a level of heat, I mean, then we can put the fire on the sword without fear of burning when the user makes slashing movements." Nata.

"But we also need to consider replacing the material from the sword that the magic will add." Akss. "Because it's like that now. How about receiving even more heat? Can melt when swung."

"Yes, that should also be noted," replied Nata agreeing. "But let's talk about it later after Miss Parpera has understood the concept of blue fire, and managed to recreate it with magic."
