The Great War of Rhodesia

The Great War of Rhodesia
33. Holy War

Along with the meeting between the Elves, Yllgarians, and the Northern Alliance, Bruixeria made a surprise attack on every border in each kingdom.

As if knowing the plan of the meeting and taking advantage of the absence of the leaders of the northern kingdom, the Bruixeria forces managed to take over several opposing strongholds on the front line.

But even though the leaders rushed back with Arcane rocks after hearing the news, the surprise attack managed to inflict considerable damage on their troops.

And in response to the attack, the construction of the Teleportation Gate began the next day. Estimated completed within 3 weeks.

.

Two days later under direction from Nata, the Northern Alliance forces began to move to counterattack the Bruixeria forces.

And along with that officially broke out the first major war on the northern mainland after 100 years in peace. The war known as the Holy War.

A few days later.

"General! The general!"

There were shouts from outside Vossler's tent at the western encampment of the main army of Rhapsodia outside the city of Zeraza.

"Who is that?" Vossler, who was discussing strategy with Jean, was disturbed.

Shortly entered with a half-running soldier who when viewed from his clothes was the leader of the squad.

"There is important news General Vossler, General Jean" said the soldier, trying to catch his breath.

"Why are you running around like that? What's going on?" Jean asked curiously.

"That's... Anu..." The soldier had trouble making his point.

"Calm down first. What's going on?" Vossler tried to calm the soldier down.

"We captured the opposing soldier." And finally the soldier was able to speak.

"Then what's with that?" Vossler asked not understanding. Because capturing an opposing soldier in battle is not something extraordinary.

"Me-they're not soldiers, General," continued the soldier, still looking a little confused.

"Be quick, calm down first. What exactly are you trying to say?"

"I mean, the soldiers we captured were not soldiers. They are ordinary people." The soldier was finally able to explain his point.

"Huh, ordinary people? How's it possible?" Vossler seemed to frown in disbelief.

"They move and fight like a soldier, right?" Jean added. "So it's impossible they're ordinary people."

"really. Or maybe they just claim to be ordinary people in order to escape arrest?" Vossler.

"It's not like that, General. They are really ordinary people. You'll find out if you see it in person."

"Then, let's take us to the opposing soldier."

And without waiting any longer, Vossler and Jean hurried to follow the soldier to where the opposing soldier was taken prisoner.

-

"Does this make sense?" Jean seemed to be trying to deny what she had just witnessed.

They were already in a simple barracks where the prisoners of war were held. And also has interrogated many opposing soldiers on the matter. The results were quite surprising.

"So you don't feel so clear-minded after wearing this headgear?" Vossler made sure while lifting up a protective head made of shiny copper-colored metal.

"And your body moves as if mastering martial arts after wearing this combat outfit?" he continued while touching a chest protector on the table.

The chest protector has an emblem like the silhouette of a tree with branches without leaves and roots whose position is quite symmetrical.

"I was forced to wear it by several soldiers in the same outfit about 3 months ago, my lord." The man continued to explain.

"This magic... How barbaric they are." Jean seemed to be very upset to know this.

"If it is true like this, then the peculiarity of the number of Bruixeria troops was answered already. They use the citizens as their soldiers." Vossler tried to conclude.

"I think we should contact the center immediately. Her Majesty the Queen and the two boys should know this as soon as possible." Jean made a proposal.

"You're right. Call them immediately. I will inform the troops that the opposing soldiers may be ordinary people. So we need to be more careful with the attacks." Vossler.

"Good."

And the two generals walked out of the barracks in opposite directions.

.

Lucia was seen massaging the temple above her eyebrows fretfully. Nata seemed to be thinking about something in silence.

The two men were in Lucia's study and had just received a report from Jean via Radio Communications.

"Why is that guy so mean?" lucia's sigh was full of stifled emotions.

"I do feel there is something odd about the number of troops that Bruixeria has. It's just that I really didn't think about this." Nata replied in an annoyed tone. Failed to predict it.

"That's because you don't know the kind of magic that exists in this world." Lucia answered.

"really. Even though before this I had failed once to predict the existence of magic interference. And it seems I'm not learning at all." Nata.

The young man felt annoyed that this should have been included in his calculations, after the previous one he was cheated.

"Don't blame yourself, Nat." Lucia retaliated. "And even if you answer that you are not blaming yourself, but I know you must blame yourself for everything that happened" he continued before Nata had time to reply.

Nata also breathed heavily. "I think I need to consult with Aksa and those who know very well about this type of magic. So that we can immediately find a solution," said the young man later.

Lucia looked at Nata with mixed feelings. Pity, sympathy, and guilt whenever the young man tries to endure it all himself. And it hurt more because he couldn't do anything to help.

"Well, go" said the woman later.

"I'll excuse Your Majesty then."

Nata leaves Lucia's office.

"It looks like it's some kind of Controlling Magic. Magic that has been unheard for a long time because it is forbidden to use and is considered heartless misguided magic," Luque said in a tent at the bottom of the Star Alcove abyss after hearing Nata's story of the Bruixeria warrior.

"Then how could Sefier master it? Where'd he learn it?" Aksa looks pretty curious.

"Eitherway. As far as I know, only the Elves may still have that ability. Since they lived for quite a while," Luque replied as he glanced at Val who was sitting on the chair at the end of the room.

"really. Most likely there are some Elves who still master the magic. Because basically that magic is an unorthodox development of Taming Magic." Val responds.

"How about Yllgarian? They also live long, right?" Aksa asked back. Looking for other possibilities.

"For this magic one, you can take Yllgarian out of his possibilities." Luque countered.

"really. That is because every Yllgarian is born with very sharp instincts and five senses. And that type of Controlling Magic has a side effect of being able to sense what the target of the magic is feeling. And Yllgarian wouldn't have been able to accept those side effects without going crazy." Lily added with an explanation.

"So it's just the Elves who are the biggest candidates?" Aksa tried to convince himself.

"Then we call Yvvone and the others" Nata said later.
