Theo smiled faintly, looking at the pretty face of his grandson who objected to what he had just said.
"Valerie, granddaughter. You're young, you can wait. While Grandpa, just wait for God's call."
"Grandfather, don't talk like that. Grandpa is healthy, Grandpa will live a long life. I beg you not to say that" Valerie complained. Just imagining it was already very terrible, of course Valerie did not want to lose the Grandfather.
Theo smiled, he looked at the grandson he loved the most. It's just, they haven't been able to stay together and meet in every single time.
"Your birthday is four months away, right on the occasion of the company's thirty-year anniversary. I hope you'll be ready by then."
Valerie was speechless, she stared at the old and wrinkled face beside her. To be honest, Valerie has been equipped with various knowledge in cultivating the company thanks to the teachings of secretary Theo and thanks to the education he has taken so far. However, Valerie felt she was not mentally prepared enough.
"Am I old enough, according to Grandpa?" ask Valerie.
"Of course, my granddaughter. You've grown up, even in you, you've grown up since you were a child" Theo replied.
"Then, can I hear everything Grandpa's been keeping secret for so long?"
A few moments later, Theo was silent. He seemed to think and try to process a sentence so that Valerie could understand the meaning of what he was going to say. Before saying the first sentence, Theo took a deep breath.
"The accident that hit you ten years ago was not an accident. It was murder" Theo said
Valerie was mute, her chest rumbling. What did he just hear? A murder?
"What does Grandpa mean?" valerie asked for an explanation.
"Grandfather said it was to protect me from the bad guys who wanted to seize power in Grandpa's company, right? Then what else?"
"Right, Grandpa faked your death because you were the rightful heir to replace your father. Grandpa had to live in theatrics and away from you just to keep you safe."
"Then, who killed my parents, Grandma? Why after all this time, Grandpa just told me the truth?" lament Valerie.
"Grandfather wants you to grow up happy, there should not be the slightest hint of grudge in your heart," Theo replied as he rubbed the melted tears that soaked his wrinkled face.
"Grandpa" said Valerie Lirih. Somehow he had to react, but this fact really made him even more in pain.
"Grandfather was forced to save your life this way, forgive Grandpa."
"Who did it, Cake?" Valerie asked firmly.
"Your uncle, stepbrother of your father. The kid your grandmother brought in before we got married. He knew he wouldn't inherit anything from the company because he was just a stepson, so he got rid of your papa, Grandpa's only biological child. Even so, inheritance rights will still fall on you, Grandpa's biological grandson. So, this is what Grandpa can do to save your life."
"Grandfather knew all this from the beginning? But why let the culprit live a happy life and even become the leader of the company?" ask Valerie upset.
"Grandfather promised your grandmother he would take care of her son and make him my son. At that time the company was in chaos due to the incident that hit you. If Grandfather were to dismantle his crime back then, he would only gain instant karma. Grandpa has a way of punishing him" Theo explained.
Valerie took a deep breath, she was upset and angry, but could not forget it. How can Theo let a murderer live happily and become a leader of a big company? What part is called punishment? Valerie doesn't understand.
