Unfortunately, all the questions and expressions of annoyance that only Valerie could hear herself. He couldn't have spilled his whole mind in front of Brian so bluntly.

As the car pulls up in a courtyard of a European-style house with large, tall pylons, Brian asks Valerie and Max out of the car to go with him. Realizing about whose house was standing majestically before her, Valerie fell silent. His knees were limp, his body was frozen.

"You okay?" ask Max.

"Hm." Valerie nodded quickly. As soon as his eyes warmed up, his chest ached.

"You look pale, are you sick?" ask Brian. He held Valerie's shoulder.

"No, I'm fine."

"You don't have to go in if you're not healthy. Sit here, wait for me. The show won't be long."

"It's okay. I'll come with you" replied Valerie.

Brian comes in with Max and Valerie. To step inside the house, Valerie's legs felt heavy. He could barely hold back the tears that had already piled up in his eyes.

The shadow of childhood flashed through his head. Valerie still vividly remembers the atmosphere and comfort of the home where she was raised by her parents.

Valerie's chest was painful, her entire body was cold. But with all his might he tried to stand up straight.

When Valerie reached the dining room with Brian and Max, she saw that she was sitting comfortably with some people she no longer knew. There were also two of Brian's parents present, while Brian immediately sat beside them.

Theo is surprised to find his grandson coming with Brian. For some reason, the old man's feelings became anxious and worried. But Valerie or Theo, still act as if they do not know each other.

This is an important dinner meeting of two wealthy families to discuss the matchmaking of their respective children. Therefore, bodyguards, secretaries and people who are not nuclear families are only allowed to stand not far from the dining table.

Valerie glanced at a beautiful woman with long brownish hair. He is Elena, Brian's future fiancee and Valerie's cousin, the son of Valerie's step-uncle.

Brian and Elena sat facing each other, everyone began to praise the match of the handsome and the beautiful. That made Valerie a little distracted.

"How's Brian, pretty isn't he?" ask Calvin. "He's your future wife" she continued.

The middle-aged woman beside Brian nudged the arms of his son. She is the wife of Calvin and Mama Brian.

"She's the perfect kind of woman, you guys are perfect. Mama is happy she is the future daughter-in-law of Mama," he said.

Brian just silently stared, his eyes staring at the beautiful woman before him with a sharp and flat gaze. Elena looked very confident. Seen from his blatantly smiling attitude spoiled in front of Brian.

"We'll discuss your engagement date after we finish eating" Damian, Valerie's uncle, said. His face was so happy to see the two families finally meet.

But an unexpected reaction came from Brian. The man stood up from the chair while tidying up the suit he was wearing.

"I came to appreciate the invitation from a respectable family, but I'm sorry if I directly reject this matchmaking" Brian said.
