Noah felt confused and looked at Valerie from her seat. He knew Valerie was upset and he was curious about what she was doing in this office. Plus, he was with Brian. Something that surprised Noah.
Brian looked at Noah, seeing how the man before him was watching Valerie. Apparently, Valerie is always attractive in everyone's eyes.
"So, I asked you to come because I wanted to drop my charges on that woman over yesterday's case. Cancel all charges and I want all of these issues to be considered complete" Brian explained. His words made Noah turn his face away from Valerie.
"Ah, sure. All right," replied Noah.
"Good, we've reached an agreement to have this case stopped."
"Why so suddenly? I know you're not a forgiver," led Noah with a small smile. While Brian laughed at his friend's honest words.
"You know I'm not that cruel to women. He made amends in another way."
"Another way?" Noah frowned in wonder.
"Hmm, now he's working for me. He'll be a bodyguard in three months' time" Brian said. A smile was clearly drawn on the corner of his lips.
"Bodyguard?" Noah glared in wonder. "Brian, she's a woman. How could you hire him as a bodyguard? Is there no other field? It could jeopardize his safety as well" Noah said.
Brian was speechless, realizing Noah's dislike for his decision.
"I'm sure he's good at martial arts. Look what he did to Max, why are you so worried?"
"But, Brian ...."
"This is our deal. He agreed and did not object to the contract I submitted. Your job is only to handle this case in the police, after that this is no longer your business" Brian said.
Noah was silent, he did not want to argue and refused to argue Brian's words. They have known each other for a long time, and Noah understands that Brian always does what he wants and tries to get his wish by all means.
Brian and Noah end up having lunch together after their meal arrives. The two did not talk too much, even Brian felt uncomfortable because he knew Noah did not agree with him.
"A minute, I'm going to the restroom" Brian said to Noah.
When she saw Brian standing up from his seat, Valerie immediately approached the man and thought that Brian had finished his lunch. But as Valerie was about to follow Brian's footsteps away, Noah restrained his arm.
"She's just going to the restroom" stop Noah.
"Oh." Valerie nodded her head. He almost did something ridiculous.
Brian glanced at a glance, then walked back to his destination.
"Brian dropped all his demands. But why did you accept Brian's offer? Being bodyguard? You're a woman, V," Noah protested.
"Then what else can I do? You said no matter what I tried, I'd still lose in court."
"You should have asked him for another job, not a bodyguard. Do you have to be with him for twenty-four hours?"
"No, where is possible. Only when he's working."
"Ah, thank goodness. I think you should take care of him twenty-four hours." Noah breathed a sigh of relief.
"I don't think it's a bad thing, there's no harm in working for him" Valerie said. He just didn't want Noah to worry about him. He knew Noah always cared, but he didn't want to misunderstand the man's concern.
"You can tell me if anything happens. Make sure you prioritize yourself first over Brian. Hmm?"
"Sure, thank you for worrying about me" Valerie said with a smile.
From a distance, Brian looked at them. Brian felt that there was something between them, just that the two of them were trying to keep their distance from each other.
