Valerie fell silent, she seemed to think and look for excuses. He was worried that Max or Brian might see Theo at the restaurant.
"Why silence? Do you have a boyfriend?" insist Max. He looked very curious, as well as Brian sitting in his chair, as if he was waiting for an answer.
"No, I met someone" Valerie replied.
"Someone?"
"Yes, I met my friends" Valerie explained.
"Oh, that's how it looks." Max just nodded, but Brian seemed to doubt it.
"Eat, we'll be late" Brian said.
For the breakfast menu, the house provides the perfect healthy food as Valerie would like. A glass of warm milk, fresh fruits that have been peeled, as well as low-fat foods that are good for health. Valerie admires Brian's good lifestyle.
Having had breakfast with two layers of toast from her boarding house, Valerie only ate a small bowl of fruit salad and a glass of milk.
After the three of them finished breakfast, the three went to the office together. Valerie serves as Brian's driver, while Max drives his car alone.
"Do you go out often? Meet a friend until midnight, does that make sense?" ask Brian from the back seat.
"Why is this guy so chatty, kepo!" inner Valerie.
"You must have met your lover, right? Is that Noah?" ask Brian again.
Valerie glanced at the man from the rearview mirror that was above her head. He wanted to be quiet, but Brian would not stop pushing.
"Me and Noah had no special relationship, we were just friends" Valerie replied as softly as possible. He wanted to raise his voice.
"really? It doesn't seem so."
"Whatever," said Valerie Lirih. There's no point in explaining anything to Brian, anyway it's not important.
They arrived in front of the office at seven in over thirty minutes. As usual, Valerie walked behind the man while Brian took the lead.
All the employees Brian passed by looked down politely with a smile, but Brian only responded to them with a brief nod.
Unlike the female employees, most of them will prepare to tidy up their clothes and make up on their faces before giving a good morning smile to their favorite president director.
"Valerie, want to come with me?" ask Max.
"Where?"
"Bought coffee."
"Hmm, sure." Valerie agreed, after all she was tired of being in this room.
"Boss, I borrowed it for a second" Max told Brian.
Brian gave no response, he did not nod or even turn his head. Valerie is still with Max.
"Don't think too much about the boss' attitude, he is like that" Max said. They walked together to the office canteen.
"Hm."
"Did you mind working here? Maybe the boss is a little annoying, but he's good."
"You know what else" Valerie replied with a shrug.
"I'm sorry for getting you involved with him. He does care about me a lot, so he's very sensitive if anything happens" Max said. Unlike Brian, Max is more talkative and friendly. He often offers food, drinks, and invites Valerie to chat to dilute the uncomfortable atmosphere.
As the two of them reached the cafeteria, Valerie sat down and waited while Max ordered coffee. Behind Valerie, there were three women who were enjoying their coffee while chatting.
"It is impossible Mr. Carlos likes it, he already has Mr. Max" one of them said in a whisper.
"Is the rumor true? They really have a special relationship?" timpal.
"Ah, I'm so disappointed."
"Hmm, what a pity. Both are handsome, but ...."
Valerie glared at the three women gossiping behind her. He shuddered and thought about how Brian and Max had behaved so far.
"Max stayed at Brian's. And both are equally attentive. What does it mean that people are right? Are they both?"
