Valerie did not argue. Brian's argument is almost always true, and refuting a sentence that comes out of the man's mouth will only cause debate.
Inside the elevator, Brian stood very close to Valerie. He deliberately positioned his body against Valerie's side and made the woman nervous.
Slowly, Brian's little finger reached for Valerie's fingers. But Valerie was embarrassed, she shifted her body and clasped her own hands.
Brian only smiled faintly, not irritated, but rather anxious whenever Valerie refused his touch.
Upon exiting the elevator, Brian and Valerie are shocked by the presence of an uninvited guest. It is Elena, the woman who will be betrothed to Brian but rejected outright by the man.
"Sorry, Boss. He forced his way in, he threatened me" Max said in a whisper.
"It's okay" Brian replied. It is impossible to blame Max for the impoliteness of others.
Apparently, Elena had arrived at Brian's office more than half an hour ago. The woman forced her way into Brian's room on the grounds that he was Brian's future fiancee. As a subordinate, Max did not dare to go far, especially Elena was the son of a large company owner who worked with Brian's company.
Elena sat gracefully on the long sofa that Valerie used to occupy. Not wanting to interfere, Valerie and Max choose to sit down at Brian's desk, while Brian walks toward the sofa.
"What do you need to do come to my office so early? You should have called Max first to make an appointment with me, " Brian said. He sat on the other side of the sofa.
"Why should I do it? I'm your future fiancee, and will be your wife" Elena replied confidently.
"Didn't I make it clear that I rejected the match? You didn't hear?"
"My family and my family have agreed. Whatever your reason for refusing, we'll still be engaged and married!" exclaim Elena.
"It's not just my family's wish, I want you."
Brian smiled slanted, it was clear in his mind that Elena was only interested in money and wealth. Any woman is unlikely to be willing to lower her self-esteem in front of a man who has rejected it outright.
"I wouldn't marry a woman just for the sake of a family deal or a corporate advantage. So, our vision and mission are clearly out of line" Brian said.
"Then what woman do you want to marry? Women like?" elena asked as she swung her chin towards Valerie who was sitting with Max.
Brian turned his head, his eyes looking at Elena sharply. Brian's dislike was clearly shown as Elena pulled Valerie in their chat.
"So your attitude!" exclaim Brian.
"Why? You reject a woman like me just for the sake of a woman whose origins are unclear? He's even just a gymnastics instructor" Elena grumbled.
Instantly Brian felt blood rise. The man's jaw is hardened. If only Elena wasn't a woman, Brian would have really lashed a hard punch into the mouth of that disrespectful woman.
"Because he's so much better than you. You don't even deserve to be compared to him" Brian said.
"Better than me?" Elena asked back, she frowned.
"Do you know what makes a woman so precious and special?" ask Brian. "His attitude and speech. As for you, it does not at all indicate that you are a woman worthy of respect!" emphatically.
