A few minutes Brian and Valerie just kept quiet. Brian looked at Valerie full of love. He had taken a decisive action against his parents, and Brian did not want his sacrifice to be in vain.
"Come, go around with me" Brian asked. He got up from the chair and approached Valerie. Brian reached out, took Valerie's hand and held her.
Valerie shook her head, she refused when Brian touched her hand. But Brian's eyes seemed to beg, it made Valerie resigned.
Brian took Valerie out of the house through the side yard. They walk down a small street with views of a fish pond and a rose garden. Brian continued to hold Valerie, making the woman even more so.
"Just go ahead, what do you want to say?" ask Valerie. He stopped at a garden chair overlooking a beautiful bonsai tree.
"I just want you to know, you're the first and only woman who made me fall in love. You were my first love, Valerie," Brian said.
Valerie gulped. He doesn't know what to answer.
The two sit in a garden chair together. Brian took off his hand because he was worried Valerie was uncomfortable. The man did not even believe that there were women who could resist his charm, like Valerie.
"You know, I've spent my whole life for my parents' happiness. I went to school abroad, focused on studying. Then I went straight into the business world, helping Papa until I finally could stand on my own like until now."
"In the meantime, I just focused on working, working and working. Not one bit I think about women."
"Making both my parents proud was my dream. But now, I want to think about myself, to put my desire first. Do you think I'm guilty of refusing that match?" ask Brian.
Valerie was silent for a moment, digesting what she had just heard. Now he realized, the cold, hard, and indifferent attitude that Brian had was the result of loneliness and emptiness of his heart.
Brian becomes a man who has a hard time understanding women. He is not the type of romantic man, because basically he never knew women.
"No, you're innocent. Everyone has the right to make a choice, and everyone has the right to their own happiness" Valerie replied.
Both were silent for a moment. Brian is so happy. At the very least, the person who was the reason for his happiness also supported his decision.
"I'm sorry I brought you into my trouble. My goal was to take you last night, just to prove that I don't play games with you. Can you think about it?"
"It's okay, I get it."
"I understand if you don't have feelings for me yet. But can you give me hope?" ask Brian. He tilted his body, grabbed Valerie's hand and grasped it.
"Your parents must have rejected me. You don't think about them?" Valerie asked back. He clearly understood that Brian's parents wanted a woman who was worthy of their child.
"At this time, I want to think about myself."
"You're going to fight them for your love?"
"I'll do anything to be with you, that's all."
"I'm not the woman they expected me to be. You'll let them down. Do you know who I am?" ask Valerie.
"I don't need to know who you are. I just want to love you, without thinking about your origin or background" Brian said.
"I'm not a woman who comes from a distinguished, wealthy, and distinguished family like you. I'm an ordinary person, and we're obviously very different. Are you sure you love a woman like me?" Valerie asked to make sure.
