Stay Waiting for Time
The two women chatted in the living room, then, Lintani invited Elliyat to walk around, the park until it did not feel like two hours were just left for them to spend together.
When they returned, an assistant approached Elliyat with a worried look on his face.
“Mrs Elli, are you okay?” Asked the assistant and was answered with a nod by the woman with a smile. Then, they continued to step back into the living room.
While Lintani continued to look at Elliyat in surprise, why did the assistant ask Eliat who she thought was fine. During their time together in prison, the middle-aged woman did not appear to have any serious problems, only often exhausted and her body was limp, or her face was always pale for no reason.
Shortly after they had a conversation, a doctor came to check on Elliyat's health.
The doctor was escorted to where Elliyat and Lintani were by a waiter. Lintani finally found out that her mother was seriously ill. It was just that he had never shown everything to many people including Lintani.
“Calm down, I'm fine,” Elliyat said as the doctor finished checking in.
The doctor was a young man, he smiled at Elliyat and Lintani kindly, “Are you guys having fun?” tanyakanya.
“Ya.” Elliyat answered with enthusiasm.
“Wah, you look excited today, Mrs Elli, is it because of this Miss? You are very lucky to be with a beautiful girl!” the doctor said again while cleaning up the equipment.
“You can't tease her, she's my daughter-in-law!”
“Oh, really? That means Mr Askel is married?”
“Ya.”
“Congratulations Miss, already a part of the Harrad family. Take good care of Madam, she does need a friend who can invite her happily, May long life.”
Lintani said nothing, she was concerned and sad that Elliyat was suffering from an incurable disease, the tumor in her body had spread, he only wished that the woman could live longer as the Doctor had said.
They talk about many things again, until Elliyat looks tired until Lintani waits until the woman takes her medicine and falls asleep. After that, he complied as the servants allowed him to eat.
Lintani left as soon as her stomach was full, but, once she got to the side of the road, she was confused as to where to go. Honu the driver offered her a ride, but the girl balked because she didn't want any of her work later, known to the people who lived in the Harrad family home.
Finding a job in the city is very difficult, moreover, he did not finish college, while his age is now 28 years, his youth spent in prison, even his school graduation certificate is in the Lux family home.
When he saw the crossroads, he had thought about returning to the family home to pick up some of his personal belongings, but he did not know if all of his belongings were still there, or if they threw them away.
His eyes returned to the crossroads, turning to kana from there was the road to the Lux family home. However, the gazes were slightly distracted by the entourage of middle-aged women walking across her.
“Why Aunt Mo, no?” said one of the women's troupe consisting of six people and brands wearing men-like clothing. Lintani clearly heard their words.
“Ya, then who will do the part?” another word again.
“Entai!” said another.
“How about I replace him?” lintani interrupted their words.
“Can you do our job, just look at your clothes don't match?”
“Indeed, what should I do?” lintani asked curiously and ignored the scornful look of the women.
“We print bricks!”
Lintani smiled at the answer from them. He thought that printing bricks was not difficult because he had done the most menial work before, being beggar and being bullied by many people every day from day to night. It was rougher than the work the women did.
“Alright, I can,” said Lintani confidently.
“It is better to change your clothes you will cry if your clothes are dirty or damaged like other spoiled children!” some women said while laughing.
Lintani just kept quiet and then followed where the women were going. They did not know when he had previously worn the same clothes as them. Previously he was wearing a maid uniform until then a suit forced him to use another outfit and now even the clothes given by Elliyat and he is powerless to replace it now. He has no other clothes.
The group of women continued down the streets until they reached a turn that was not too wide, not too wide, they stopped in front of a place filled with mounds of clay and black smoke sand billowing in several brick kilns filled with dry wood.
After Lintani's entourage came, the rest of the group left, apparently working in turns, and most of them were men, and most of them were men, only a small percentage of them are women and one of them is the group that Lintani follows.
A woman approaches and pulls Lintani to a deserted spot, giving her a round hat and a shabby trouser, as well as a pair of boots, including gloves.
“Wear this, it is not good, but you can still wear it, it seems enough. Try!” said the woman.
“Thank you,” said Lintani while wearing a hat and gloves, then pants and shoes, all a bit oversized, but still wearable.
The girl started working and learned quickly how to print bricks. Some women are very patient in teaching and telling about their experiences when they first started working.
No one would have thought if a similar fate befell the women who forced them to work rough. They only have low basic abilities as well as high cost of living demands making it work doing just about anything as long as they are able to do.
After the completion of their working hours, the day was already approaching night, staying now they had to queue up to get paid. Almost for six or seven hours they worked and the pay they received was in keeping with the length of time they were printing bricks at the biggest brick-printing company in town. They are just freelancers, until there is no employee registration or anything like that.
A man handed out money at the exit and when Lintani got a turn, the man looked fixedly at her.
A woman behind Lintani patted him on the shoulder and said, “He's Auntie Mo's nephew, he's sick and sends this girl, so just give me the pay!”
“Oh!” the man said as he looked back at Lintani and smiled with a grin. “She is too pretty for a job like this, does Mo not have a heart?”
“Already, do not talk about the heart, the important thing is that Mo still gets money even though he only sleeps at home!”
Lintani leaves as soon as she gets her money, she doesn't care about the woman who introduces herself as someone's niece, she's lying but her lies help her.
Today he earned 14 dollars to work for six hours. How tiring it is to be a manual laborer, it is not enough to buy clothes and eat them for a day. The price of one burger can reach ten dollars and it is not filling. He has to find another job.
Arriving on the big road, apparently the women did not go home on foot, but came home with a few men, maybe they were his partner. This situation makes Lintani walk alone.
