Liberators

Liberators
Chapter 79 - Operation

The Russian Secret Headquarters Hospital.

Inside an operating room with a bright white light, several doctors were seen standing facing a patient's bed.

The figure of a young man with brownish hair was seen lying on it.

"You sure you're gonna accept this operation, Axel?" Tanya Dmitri, the chief doctor of this hospital.

Beside Dmitri, looks a face that is no longer foreign to Axel. They are none other than Frans and Leona who have now moved to work for the Russian side after the North American branch was destroyed.

"Honestly, I'm not suggesting that to myself." Said Frans in a flat tone. Even so, both of his hands look ready to run this operation.

"If I myself wish you would sacrifice your life in the name of science. Take it easy, if you die, your death won't be in vain." Leona is injecting sedatives into Axel's left arm.

Looking at Leona's level, Axel himself felt astonished whether the woman had indeed given him the opportunity to rethink his choices or not.

Leona has performed the necessary medical procedures for this operation.

While the reply from Axel himself was quite simple.

"I'll be dead soon, won't I? It never hurts to gamble on my lucky luck."

A relieved smile was seen on Dmitri's face immediately after hearing the statement.

"Good indeed. I'll explain the procedure to you again." Said Dmitri while starting the initial treatment on Axel.

In principle, Dmitri's theory was to create a hybrid or combined human of two different races.

It is much safer to use an egg from Lucy and fertilize it in a special tube.

But the procedure was too long.

And it takes at least 1 year to see how the result of artificial fertilization is done.

Therefore, Dmitri made a new procedure by combining genetic information belonging to Lucy and Axel.

Thanks to the research that has been done by East Asia to both of them, the Russian side has obtained complete information about the genetics of both.

Combining them is simply a matter of whether the research subject is willing to do so or not.

However, the risk that can arise is quite large.

In short, hybrid human research has never been done before. And the chance of death in the study subjects was very high because the genetics between humans and Chimera Lucy were incompatible or contradictory.

But if it works....

According to Dmitri's own theory....

It could create something much more powerful than the Liberator project itself.

However, the procedure to do so is quite complicated and at least must have complete genetic information both.

So right now, the only one who could accept this trial operation was Axel.

"understand? After we put you in a coma, we'll dissect your body and do genetic therapy to change the DNA in your body.

Take it easy, Lucy doesn't even have to take part in this. We just need her genetic information. As for yourself, you won't feel anything during this process.

But instead, if this surgery is successful you will feel a little discomfort in your body. This whole process may take a month. Understood?" Dmitri is obviously at length.

Axel, who did not understand what he had just heard, only took the most important information for him.

It's a fact that Lucy and herself won't feel pain in this operation.

"I don't understand at all. But please, just do it. I entrust myself to all of you." Reply Axel.

"good. We'll start soon." Reply Dmitri who started pressing some buttons on that computer.

Several hoses appear to begin to be plugged into Axel's body through his nostrils and mouth.

Slowly, Axel began to lose consciousness. He could see what was happening, but he could not feel anything that was happening around him.

His body was numb.

Even just before Axel completely closed both eyes, he saw Leona begin to dissect Axel's body again. I don't know how many times.

But this time....

He just felt calm.

And not for long....

He also fell asleep.

No matter how long, Axel didn't notice it. He only saw a bright white light in his dream.

Sitting in the middle of the white room, also with all white clothes.

Only, his consciousness began to return intact. He could feel his heartbeat again. Even doing complicated thinking.

In the distance, Axel could see a very familiar figure. What he saw was a young boy playing ball alone.

After all, what he saw was his figure when he was a child. Precisely while still sitting in elementary school.

'Sreeett!'

Slowly, Axel started to stand up and walked closer towards the boy.

But when it was close enough, the boy suddenly turned around and pointed towards Axel's face.

No. gabe....

More precisely, it pointed in a direction behind Axel at this moment.

Reflexively, he immediately turned around to look at her.

Suddenly, the view of this all-white room turned into a hell. It was the scene when his house was destroyed by monsters.

"Axel! Get Chloe and run from here!" Shouted a man with a fairly thick beard.

"But-but...."

"There's no buts! You can run fast, right?! So please help mom and get Chloe out of here!" Shouted a woman with black hair.

Both are seen busy holding two Goblins that attack their residence.

In a corner of this house, the figure of a girl with black hair was seen hiding under the table while crying.

"Axel! Go quickly!"

Without saying a word, the figure of Axel inside the house immediately ran. Pull the black haired girl's right arm and go far away. Leaving their homes.

Axel who saw the incident could only fall silent. Slowly, tears began to flow down his face.

Just like her old self, Axel was completely speechless. He still blamed the incident on the monsters.

But now, he began to realize it.

That the result of the incident was none other than his own weakness.

The sight that was none other than his past immediately faded and disappeared. Along with the away figure of himself and also Chloe on the highway.

Now, the scenery is replaced by a dark night sky. The urban ocean that had collapsed was visible along the eye of the beholder.

The scene that should always be seen by him, somehow feels so foreign.

Questions such as where this was and when this scene was seen by him were completely unanswered.

Given what had previously happened, Axel felt that it was possible....

All of these were fragments of his memories during his lifetime. And a side effect of this operation.

But nevertheless....

In the distance, Axel could see the figure of a man walking alone. His right hand was dragging a one-handed sword with a reddish-black blade.

The streets around his place were filled with piles of corpses that could not be identified due to the darkening of the light within these fragments of memories.

Maybe monsters? Is this a memory of her being on a monster-cleansing mission? Axel can't remember when this happened.

The man continued to walk away in one direction, without stopping. Also without turning his body.

As Axel had just intended to chase and find out when this memory happened....

...'YODAAARRR!!!'...

Axel could hear a huge explosion.

The voice instantly retracted its consciousness into the real world. And this world that was a fragment of his memory immediately collapsed, breaking into pieces.

"Well?!"

Now, Axel wakes up in a sealed metal tube. The red light seemed to illuminate through a small window inside the tube where Axel was.

"Where's this? Why?"

The sound of sirens sounded so loud that it scratched its ears. Axel immediately removed the various cables and hoses connected to his body, then crawled out of the tube.

'Blaaarr!'

He kicked the tube door. Now, Axel is inside a hospital facility. After looking around him, Axel can realize that he has just been in a big machine.

Where his body is placed in a tube with a sleeping position inside the large machine.

But Axel knew there was no time to understand him.

With just the patient's plain light blue clothes, Axel immediately grabbed a few scalpels around this room as his weapon and ran out.

Find out, what really happened until the sirens were so loud and bright red lights were lit throughout this hospital facility.

Without knowing how long he has been in the treatment.
