Chapter 50 - Rebuilding

A few days have passed....

Now, after all the preparations had matured, humanity decided to take their first move. A movement to take over their land back.

At the same time restore their success and self-esteem on this earth.

In front of the main gate of this fort, hundreds of soldiers and dozens of Liberators were seen lined up neatly.

Everyone has been preparing for this great mission of reconquest of Los Angeles City. And all that, thanks to the new technology they discovered.

"Remember! Spread this liquid at a predetermined point and then slaughter all the monsters! After that, the regular soldiers would guard the workers to build the initial skeleton of the wall!" Shouted the Oracle loudly in front of everyone.

His right hand held up a tube filled with Flux liquid with a special mixture that made the C-level monsters go crazy. Not caring about anyone and just focusing on the liquid.

Not just the soldiers.

Thousands of civilian workers also took part in the operation. They will deploy whatever machinery and materials exist to build the initial framework of this defensive wall.

That short speech from the Oracle really spurred the spirit of everyone who took part in this operation.

"Everyone, good luck." The Oracle said as the conclusion of the speech. And with this, all the soldiers, Liberators as well as the civilian workers began to walk.

The circular gate slowly opened. Showing the light of the sun in the outside world. A sight they had not seen for a very long time since living underground.

One by one, the soldiers left this underground fortress to the outside world. A world that is very dangerous to ordinary humans.

On the front, Axel noticed the movements of Liberators and soldiers from East Asia. Given the words of the Oracle, Axel did hold a lot of suspicion on them.

The Oracle said they wouldn't do it now. But Axel couldn't stop thinking about it.

"Axel, what's wrong?" Eva asked curiously.

"No. There's nothing." Reply Axel briefly.

Axel then picked up his phone to open the coordinates that were shared with him. The coordinates are the location where Axel and Eva work.

"Northern District sector C, huh? Pretty far away." Axel said after seeing the coordinates on the map.

"Hey, we haven't fought with these monsters in a long time. Whaddya think? Will there be anything strong?" Eva asked as she raised her great sword.

"Honestly, I wish I hadn't found a single strong monster." Reply Axel.

The two of them started walking towards their coordinates. Behind them were 10 regular soldiers and 40 civilian workers.

All of them were groups that Axel and Eva would guard. Several other groups also seemed to start moving neatly.

As Axel looked back, the faces of the soldiers as well as the civilian workers were very clearly depicting a strong fear.

"Just calm. I'll take good care of you." Axel said with a friendly smile.

Of course they better stay calm.

After all, Axel's group was the only group with S and A level bodyguards at once in this operation.

With Axel and Eva on their side, the safety of their lives should be assured.

Or at least....

That's what's on their minds.

A continuous barrage of bullet shots rang out from all directions.

The soldiers in black uniforms kept firing their rifles in various directions while hiding behind the ruins of the building.

They are constantly lifting and moving stones with the help of several small sized machines that have been prepared in advance.

And with that terrible pressure, they keep working.

On the other hand, Axel seemed busy running to and fro while swinging his spear. Slashing all the monsters that came around this place.

"Axel! What the hell is going on?! Aren't these monsters too fierce?!" Shouted Eva who was shocked.

"Just calm. They're not gonna walk past that special fluid line." Reply Axel calmly.

Before starting the job, Axel and Eva poured the special liquid in 3 lines. In the North, East, and West.

And those 3 liquid lines were luring thousands of monsters hiding around this place towards him. They are in a race to reach that fluid as quickly as possible.

The group of monsters called by the liquid are Goblins, Orcs and also Lizardmen.

They fought it with the other monsters without caring anything. Including attacks from human soldiers.

"Mr Axel! You sure this isn't a problem?!" Shouted one of the soldiers so tightly. Meanwhile, both of his hands continuously fired those rifles towards the Goblins in the distance.

"Just calm! They're just crazy about the liquid!" Reply Axel while continuing to slaughter the monsters around the liquid.

Although it proved to be effective and safe, but still this scene provided great fear and terror for the soldiers who rarely encountered monsters. Especially for civilian workers who do not hold any weapons.

But nevertheless....

As time went on and the pile of monster corpses grew more and more, the workers and soldiers who were there began to get used to it

Accustomed to the loud sound of the soldiers' rifles. Accustomed to the loud cries of monsters. They are also used to the horrors they show.

And with that, they continued to work all day until the sun almost sank.

The moment it arrived....

"All right! That's enough for today! We can get ready to go back to the fort!" Shouted Eva.

"Well.... At last. I'm so tired."

"I am too."

Complaints from the civilian workers were heard in all directions. Even so, their faces showed something similar.

A smile was satisfied at their achievement today.

"Damn it, my bullet's almost out."

"Can we get more bullets tomorrow?"

"What about those monsters? Will anyone take care of them?"

The question of the soldiers who no longer knew fear was also heard. Making Axel and also Eva who saw him feel a little relieved breathing.

Axel and Eva also noticed the progress or development of the construction of this wall from a distance.

Both realized that this task took far longer than they had imagined.

"How long do you think?" Eva asked Axel.

"I'm not a contractor. But looking at its speed, it would at least take 1 or 2 months." Reply Axel.

The answer seemed so pessimistic. In fact, Axel's answer is included in the optimistic side by assuming there will be no dangerous interference during this work.

Construction has started again. Without so many glaring events.

It is true that hundreds, even thousands of monsters invaded again. But none of the monsters attacked the humans.

They just kept fighting each other over the new liquid that was poured onto the ground by the Liberators.

After that, they were just slaughtered unilaterally.

Same with the next days.

Before long, this work became a new routine for all residents in the underground fortress.

Everyone thought that this work had become a part of their new life.

Even smiles and laughter began to sound throughout the journey as well as the time they worked.

Slowly....

Humans began to become just like monsters that were madness over that special liquid.

They did not care at all about the monsters that continued to rampage around them. With indifference, they continued their work.

The same is also experienced by the soldiers guarding around the project in each particular district and sector.

Slowly they began to be lazy and considered the monsters were no longer a threat.

"Why kill them? Aren't they busy fighting with their own comrades for that special liquid?"

It was the most common phrase uttered by the soldiers in black uniforms in the field.

While the workers have their own mainstay sentences.

"As long as there is that special liquid, why think about the existence of monsters? Besides, they're not gonna bother us, are they? Better focus on working to finish quickly."
