Chapter 18 - Cleaning

'Srrugg! Oruugg!'

'Tik!'

The sound of water droplets echoed in all corners of this underground waterway. Since the collapse of mankind, this underground sewer has been left completely unkempt.

Of course, who would take care of a place whose great opportunity would be the headquarters of these Goblins?

But nevertheless....

"I heard our mission is to clear the monsters around the fortress but.... Why in the sewer?" Axel asked with a slightly astonished face.

Although Axel could not see Eva's facial expression completely, he knew it well. That right now, Eva was smiling as if mocking her.

"You think so too?! I knew! In a world like this, swords look much cooler! At least better than your bow." Reply Eva while laughing lightly.

Axel was still a little sorry for no longer being able to use the sword. But after training it a few times, the arrow bow that could also be used as a spear was quite comfortable to use.

The sound of the sword and iron shield of the fallen lizard monster became a very clear signal. Not only for the other lizard monsters, but also for Axel and Eva.

"I'll leave my back to you!" Eva shouted while running forward. Eva is seen throwing a flash grade that illuminates a moment of passage in front of Eva.

Just like the situation on the side of Axel, the passage in front of Eva was also filled with the same lizard-man warriors.

Hearing the words of Eva, Axel immediately understood what to do. He reattached the key to his bow, returning it to its spear form.

"Yes wizardmen? I've learned a little about you guys." Axel spoke briefly before crashing through the hundreds of Lizardmen alone in the opposite direction to Eva.

Axel enveloped his spear with lightning magic. Every slash and stab of his spear flashed electricity in various directions illuminating this dark passageway.

The speed of Axel's movements far surpassed the Lizardmen's ability to follow him.

"Feel this." Axel spoke briefly before stopping his attack. He held the long spear with his right hand.

"Guaarrgghh!!!" Shouted the Lizardmen who received the attack from Axel.

"Axel! The light!" Eva shouted loudly.

Understanding the request, Axel fired a flash of lightning from his left hand. That lightning flash illuminated the entire passageway in the direction of its trajectory for a moment.

But that was enough for Eva to know their entire location from that brief exposure.

Quickly, Eva clasped tightly onto her greatsword with both hands. Put up the horses to prepare to dart forward.

'Zraaasshhh!!!'

Shortly after Eva jumped forward, she slashed her greatsword. Splitting the bodies of the Lizardmen was easy.

This time, before Eva asked for it again, Axel had fired another flash of lightning. Illuminate the hallway around where Eva is.

A faint smile was clearly visible on the silver-haired woman's face.

"Thank you, Axel." Eva spoke briefly before swinging back her greatsword.

On the other hand, every slash and stab of Axel's spear caused a flash of lightning that illuminated his battleground. It was enough to give him a vision of where his enemy was.

Axel and Eva still continued to fight with similar formations and cooperation.

But there is one problem.

Step by step, Eva also slowly retreated because she was no longer able to withstand how many Lizardmen there were in this underground sewer.

In the end, the two hit each other on their backs.

"Eva, are you still strong?" Axel asked briefly.

"Honestly, I'm getting tired. How's yours?" Reply Eva who still continued to fend off some sword slashes from those Lizardmen and retaliated against their attacks.

"Same. Wanna get out?" Axel asked briefly.

"Huh? How's it?" Eva's reply was confused.

Before replying to the question, the two exchanged positions to provide a surprise for their opponents who had begun to get used to his battle patterns.

'Zraassh! Zraassh! Zraasshh!!'

Axel swung and thrust his spear swiftly towards his opponent. Kill some Lizardmen quickly.

Without answering, Eva immediately took charge of both sides for herself. Keeping Axel who was now starting to kneel on the ground.

He pulled out his arrow, giving it enough Flux energy to make a powerful attack. Directing the bow right beside him.

"Be prepared!" Axel shouted for a moment before releasing his arrows.

Strong lightning continuously snatched back and forth from Axel's body and arrows. Even before he let go.

Hearing the screams from Axel, Eva immediately prepared herself by taking cover behind her shield.

Without waiting any longer, Axel immediately released the arrow.

...'ZRAAAASSSHHHH!!! JDAARRR!!' ...

Axel's arrow shot caused a streak of lightning before him. Whatever was in the trajectory of his arrow shot was immediately struck by lightning.

Axel immediately locked back his arrow and placed it on his back.
