Liberators

Liberators
Chapter 4 - Liberator, Upper Section

The darkness slowly faded away. Replaced by the bright light of the lamp where Axel was lying.

"Law.... Wait a minute, the lights?" Axel asked in confusion.

In the midst of this destroyed world, electricity is no longer accessible. Even more valuable than gold.

But what is he seeing right now? A very bright light? Has he died?

"Just realized, and that's your first sentence?" Asked one of the doctors who was wearing a greenish uniform and also the mask.

Axel didn't know if the doctor was mocking him or not, but heard from his tone, he didn't look angry. He seems to want to laugh.

"sorry. But where am I?" Ask Axel.

The doctor just kept quiet and looked around.

Axel followed the doctor's view. And what he saw, was the sight of dozens of medical beds and other doctors who were treating other patients.

"Aarrgghhh! So sick! My hand! My hand!" Shouted a man in the distance.

"Please! Tell me my brother is alive! Say it!" Shouted a man who pulled the doctor's uniform.

"Why.... Why did you leave me first, aaarrghh!!!" Shouted an old woman crying over her son's body.

The terrifying atmosphere in this place started to enter Axel's mind. But he has absolutely no problem with this.

To him, the outside world was far more cruel than this place.

"So.... Is my sister okay?" Ask Axel.

"Yes, he's fine. He is resting in his room." Reply to the doctor while continuing to check Axel's condition through the monitor screen next to his bed.

"Then, what about me?" Ask Axel again.

The doctor looked at Axel's eyes slowly returning back to him.

"In short, you're fine. But the bad thing is, you have a pretty bad scar on your right arm. But it's just a mark. No other problems." Obviously the doctor.

Axel revealed the clothes on his right arm to look at his scar.

The scar on his right arm resembles the shape of a fairly long plant root with a red color. Starting from the palm of his hand until it reached his shoulders.

"Huh. What do I think. This is not a problem at all. So, when can I leave this treatment bed?" Axel asked with a pretty tense face.

He still could not believe whether his sister was really okay before seeing him in person.

"Tomorrow. For now, rest." Reply to the doctor.

Moments later, a woman in a gray military uniform enters this hospital barracks. She is the same woman who saved Axel from his previous danger.

"If he's okay, let him go. After all, there are still many other patients who need treatment." Said the silver-haired woman.

A large sword was on his back. Hooked on a machine that seemed to stick to his body.

"All right." Reply to the doctor while starting to remove all medical equipment in Axel's body.

Axel himself just looked at the figure of the woman while recalling the shadow he saw before losing consciousness.

"Did you know, my name is Eva. One of the Liberators." Said the woman while extending her right hand to shake hands with Axel.

"Axel." The reply was brief while shaking the woman's right hand.

"Come with me."

Axel was only able to comply with the woman's request. After all, there was nothing else he could do in this foreign place.

After changing his clothes with civilian clothes that are white with black grooves, Axel walked to the left of Eva.

Eva gave a short tour of the place. Explain the outline to know.

Behind the barracks of the hospital, Axel could see a room that was quite spacious. Even as large as a football field with iron, or maybe steel as the main material of this building. Roof included.

A fairly bright light illuminated the entire place.

People in different uniforms seemed to be walking around, as if they were busy working on something.

Some buildings of steel appear to function as shops and workplaces. With two large buildings that are none other than the apartment where they live.

Axel seemed amazed at the view of this city. But.... Is this really a city? After all, he did not see the sky at all.

"Liberian.... Is this underground?" Ask Axel.

"It's true." Reply Eva with a big smile.

Both continued their short tour. With Eva continuing to explain about this place.

"As you can see, people in white uniforms like you are civilians. They are burdened with basic jobs such as cleaning, service sector, and so on." Eva clearly pointed at the crowd in the distance.

Axel listened to her while nodding his head.

"Then those who wear blue uniforms are employees in the field of energy. Only a handful of people can be trusted for the job, because you know.... Energy is very important here. Including electricity." Eva Clear.

"Energy source?" Axel asked curiously.

"Fluxed. There's no energy that's much more efficient than that in the universe."

Fluxes. A mysterious energy is found to be in a different dimension. Or rather, the energy formed due to drilling of different dimensions.

Very clean. There is no danger in the slightest. And also very efficient.

1 gram of Flux in liquid form can be used to supply the energy needs of a city for 1 month.

And in its heyday, mankind managed to drill and take thousands of tons of Flux every day. In other words, the energy of the human race had already become limitless at that moment.

"So so. Then them?" Axel asked as he pointed to a group of people in greenish-colored uniforms.

"They are farmers. Develop a variety of plants through hydroponic technology. Very important work to meet the entire food needs of the residents in this fort." Reply Eva.

Eva slowly leads Axel into a building that is right in the center of this underground city.

A large building with a spear symbol and a broken chain.

"Last on this short tour. Welcome to the center of all activities in this fort. The Liberator's main base." Eva Clear.

Inside the building, there are two types of uniforms. The first was a military uniform that was the same gray as the one worn by Eva.

Then the second, are those who wear black uniforms. Where they dominate the colors in this military headquarters.

"The one in the black uniform, is the military logistics department. While the one in the ash uniform is...."

"Fighter. Yeah, I remember you. You're the one who split the black armored monster, right?" Axel asked right after understanding everything.

A faint smile was seen on Eva's face.

"Well, so you remember?"

"I understand what you want. Recruiting me to the squad, right? I'm sorry, but I'm pretty weak. So I'll join the civil service or...."

Before Axel could finish his words, Eva immediately cut him off.

"No. You're not weak at all." Eva Saying.

"Huh? Whatchu mean?"

Axel who heard it was confused. All this time, he had always been able to survive critically because of his not-so-powerful abilities.

He's just fast. That'sthat's all.

When faced with a great enemy like before, the only option for Axel was to escape. Not like this woman next to him.

But tell him he's not actually weak?

"Come with me." Eva said as she led Axel into an elevator.

Axel was silent. I was curious about the truth of all this.

Meanwhile, Eva appears to swipe her identity card before pressing the bottom floor button in this military building.20 floors underground where they stood before.

"Where are we?" Axel asked in confusion.

"The true face of the Flux energy."
