Liberators

Liberators
Chapter 78 - News

Axel spent about 3 days thinking about the Russian offer.

His new life, almost without responsibility in this Russian hideaway, is very comfortable. Even Axel began to doubt, whether his current self was still the same as his former self who fought with many of those monsters.

The gun has been missing since Osaka airport.

Similarly, its power has been abolished by the Russian side.

Now....

He really is back to being an ordinary man.

Is this the best ending for him? Axel started to question that.

If the rest of his life is only about 2 months away, then let it happen. But unfortunately....

'Shelf!'

The Oracle suddenly opened the door in this apartment. Surprised everyone who was in it.

"Everything, there's bad news for humanity." Said the Oracle with a face so shocked.

Behind the Oracle, Captain Asimov still smokes cigars as usual.

"What's wrong?" Eva asked curiously.

"The European Union will leave us all." Short Oracle reply.

The reply contained a meaning that was too broad, making everyone even more confused with what was meant by the Oracle.

"Leaving us? What the hell does that mean? Did they manage to acquire great technology and...."

Axel's words were immediately stopped by the Oracle.

"No. But it really leaves us physically."

'Tap 'em! Aap!'

Captain Asimov appears to be stepping forward. After feeling close enough, he threw a flash Drive towards Axel.

"Light up. You'll know what he means." Said Asimov who immediately sat relaxed on one of the sofas while enjoying his cigar.

Axel who just caught the flash Drive type storage tool was confused. And immediately, do what Asimov asks.

He plugged it into the tv in the main room of this apartment.

Inside, there is only one video. Which seems to be a compilation of footage of Russian special forces on the territory of the European Union.

Everyone in this apartment watched the video carefully.

The view is the same as what is in other parts of the world. It is a world that has been destroyed and ruins in all directions.

There is no high fortress, nor tower capable of guarding mankind.

There was nothing, other than this expanse of a city that had long since collapsed.

"Charlie reported to Delta. No anomalies found." Said a special soldier who was currently recording what he saw with the camera on his helmet.

"Delta to Charlie. Please investigate further. We detected a huge Flux energy in that region." Reply to the operator from the Russian secret headquarters.

"Understand."

The soldier, along with a few other soldiers, began to again walk towards the location indicated in their coordinates.

'Srruugg! Oruugg!'

They try not to make the slightest sound. But the ruins that became their foothold made that impossible.

Every time their feet step, the debris on the ground can crumble and make a loud noise.

So do the various glass fragments on the ground.

But they keep moving forward.

After a while.... They feel something strange. The ground they were standing on began to tremble.

"Charlie to the team. Back off." Said the soldier who recorded this video.

Everyone ran backwards away from these coordinates.

And apparently, that was the best decision. How not?

The ground where they had stood before, was now starting to open. A gigantic gate started to shift and open. Dragging all the rubble of the building's ruins aside

The Russian special soldiers who saw it were shocked to death.

"Charlie to Delta. We found an anomaly. A hole with a diameter of over 200 meters begins to be seen in the coordinates." Said the soldier.

"Delta to Charlie. Can you see what's inside?"

"We'll do it."

"Be careful." Reply to the operator from the headquarters.

A total of 3 soldiers started walking to different sides of the huge hole. While the remaining 2 soldiers were on standby behind in a state of hiding behind their camouflage clothes.

Everyone has raised their rifles. Prepare to face the worst here.

'Cts!'

The three also turned on a flashlight attached to the bottom of their rifle barrel. Then direct it right into that big hole in the ground.

"Did you guys see anything?" Ask the headquarters.

But unfortunately....

Even if they illuminated it with flashlights, they were simply unable to see the end of this deep abyss.

"Charlie to Delta. We can't see anything. Switch to infrared glasses." Reply to one of the soldiers.

"Wait on! The wall next to this ravine.... The steel? What the fuck? Are you saying it's man-made?" Ask the other soldiers.

The operator at the headquarters who heard the words of the special soldier immediately panicked.

And quickly, the Russian commander-in-chief, Nikolov, began to take over.

"Continue your research. Then connect the base with one of your video shots."

One of the soldiers who recorded this video also pressed a few buttons on his glasses. Then set his gaze right at the bottom of this gigantic abyss.

And what he saw....

It was a spacecraft of such great size. A lot of workers were busy finishing the giant rocket at the bottom of the ravine.

"What the fuck?!" Shouted Axel who saw the video on the television. He immediately turned to the Oracle directly.

"As you can see, the European Union is leaving Earth. It carried about 5,000 of its citizens into the rocket. Or at least, it was the result of hacking on their main server." Answer Asimov in the corner of the room.

Everyone in this room seems to be starting to limp.

While all are fighting hard to defend this world, the EU has prepared to abandon and leave the earth forever. Heading into the vast space and having no monster threat.

What's more....

"The rocket is no ordinary rocket. But a spacecraft that can supply the needs of 5,000 humans for thousands of years in space.

Thanks to the abundant energy of the Flux, they could produce food, even water with their advanced technology.

Making anyone who participated in the rocket must have survived for thousands of years, even though they did not find another habitable planet.

Moreover, with the abundant supply of Flux, they could create a much more advanced civilization out there without any monster interference." Asimov is at length.

For everyone, there is the same question.

Why is the European Union keeping this a secret?

Is it because their rockets can only hold 5,000 people?

Or because there is another meaning?

No one can answer that. But one thing is certain for Russia.

"We'll let them do what they want to do. After all, Russia still loves this world. Even if it's broken like this."

Little by little, Axel began to understand it.

That in order to survive in this world, humans must sacrifice everything regardless of the views of other factions.

And that goes for himself too.

Therefore, Axel decided to accept the experimental operation from the Russian side. Even if he would die in the operation, there was at least a slight chance of surviving a little longer.

Everything was....

Just to protect the people closest to him.
