Chapter 58 - Monsters

Several days have passed since Lucy lived together in this human community. A small community of about 30 members.

Their lives are simple.

"Mary. And that brother's name is Liam. He does look a little fierce, but take it easy. Because he's actually a good boy." The woman answered with a friendly smile.

"Huh?! Who did you say son?! I'm an adult!" Reply Liam with a little anger.

The two girls laughed lightly at Liam's behavior.

After arriving at one of the underground passage entrances, Liam opened the iron door on the ground slowly.

'Krekks! Kreeks! Kree!'

He turned the lock of the circular door. Little by little, the door opened.

Aided by Mary, the two lifted the door to the side. And behind it, there is a vertical iron ladder that connects the ground surface with underground water channels.

"Lucy, it's pretty dark inside. But you're not scared, are you?" Mary asked briefly while giving the girl a small flashlight.

"Of course not! Lucy's gonna be a good, brave boy!" Reply to the girl enthusiastically.

"good. A clever girl. Please help us both to light up the streets down there huh?" Reply Mary while gently stroking the girl's blonde hair.

Without speaking a word, Liam had descended the iron staircase with a flashlight in his mouth.

"Liam! Waitaminute! You're...." Shouted Mary who immediately caught up with the boy.

Behind her, Lucy also went down the iron stairs slowly. He mimics what Liam did by biting the flashlight in his mouth.

Upon arriving below, the scenery changed completely.

While lying on the ground, Liam and Mary began to take the water that flowed in the channel. Put it in the jerry cans they carry.

The goal is only one, which is to avoid any large garbage or dirt entering the water jerrycan.

After all the jerry cans were filled, the three of them prepared to return to the surface.

Transporting the jerry cans one by one.

"Easy right? Hows it? Would you like to accompany your sister to fetch some more water tomorrow?" Mary asked after making sure all the jerry cans were fully loaded.

"You! Lucy's pretty bored on top. It's fun here!" Reply Lucy with spirit.

"Fun from where? The place smells like this...." Liam complained to the little girl.

Hearing the complaint, Mary immediately kicked Liam's left leg slowly. I asked him to stop acting like that.

After a while, Lucy asked again.

"Sister, is it safe here?"

"Hmm? Of course it's safe. There are no monsters underground like this." Mary replied with astonishment.

During this time, this human community always hunted monsters on the surface. Including the Lizardmen they found in a place that had been flooded with industrial wastewater.

But never once did they discover the existence of monsters underground.

Because that is their knowledge. Very far when compared to the Liberator headquarters which has a lot of personnel and also sophisticated equipment.
