Chapter 44 - Highway
The night has come. There was not much illumination on this highway other than the crescent moonlight in the sky.
A dim light illuminated Axel and Akane in the middle of this very quiet highway.
"So, what's going to happen now?" Axel asked while looking at the HD motorbike in the middle of the road.
On the other hand, Akane's figure appeared to be walking around in circles. His face described the confusion very clearly.
After a few minutes of circling around in the same place, Akane finally spoke.
"Your run is fast, isn't it? How about you find another vehicle and get the fuel?" Ask Akane.
"I? Wh why? Isn't this your fault because you didn't check the gasoline on that bike before walking?" Reply Axel with narrowed eyes.
"Eh? My mistake? Why?"
Axel was no longer able to face or handle this female figure.
In the end, he relented and decided to start looking for another vehicle.
Leaving Akane sitting alone in the middle of this highway along with that HD motorbike. Akane also seems to make a bonfire with the ability to illuminate where he rests.
Meanwhile....
Axel continued to walk back towards the city of San Francisco.
'If it's not wrong, we found some cars in the back. About 10 or 20 kilometers maybe?' Axel thought in his heart.
After deciding, Axel began to run while carrying a small fuel jerrycan in his right hand.
He had no intention of running as fast as possible. Instead Axel chose to run slowly, enjoying the peace at night.

After several tens of minutes passed, Axel finally met the car he had previously seen. It was a red car.
Without waiting any longer, Axel immediately drained the fuel in the car.
"But.... How's it?" Axel asked in confusion.
He constantly thinks how to empty the fuel from this sedan car.
A few minutes passed, but Axel had no idea at all. He then wonders how Akane previously emptied the fuel of many vehicles.
"Damn it, how else." Grumpy Axel.
In the end, Axel chose the rough road. That is by lifting and tilting the car using both hands, then cutting the gas tank with his weapon.
Gasoline also poured into the jerry can which he carried to the full even to spill.
After feeling the mission was complete, Axel began to prepare to run back to where Akane was waiting.

"Akane?" Ask Axel after he returns.
"Mmh...." Akane replied while turning her body.
The woman that Axel thought was so troublesome, now looked so helpless. Falling asleep under the sky with the asphalt road as the base.
Without wearing a single sheet of blankets to keep her body warm, the woman was seen to have fallen asleep along with the bonfire made by her earlier.
After being convinced that Akane was really asleep, Axel left her and walked toward the HD motor vehicle.
He refilled his gas tank slowly.
In the silence and darkness of the night, Axel began to think back to the peace that humanity should feel.
A peace, where man does not need to hide behind thick steel walls in order to survive.
After finishing refueling, Axel now lies on the ground. Looking at the night sky filled with such beautiful stars.
"Chloe.... I hope you can enjoy the beauty of this sky someday." Said Axel who was reminded of his sister.
His sister did live comfortably behind the Liberator fortress in a pretty luxurious VVIP apartment.
But never had the chance to see the sky again.
No longer have you seen the rising or sinking of the sun, as well as the flickering of stars at night.
Slowly....
Axel's eyes started to feel so heavy.
He's getting sleepy.
Axel desperately wanted to sleep asleep in this comfort. But he also remembered. He is still outside at the moment. With many dangers monsters might lurk in the dark.
Akane, however, was asleep.
It was also uncomfortable to wake the woman. In the end, Axel chose to stay up all night.
But just as Axel was about to walk away leaving Akane resting, the woman suddenly woke up.
"Uuh, am I asleep?" Ask Akane.
"Rest. I'll be on guard this time." Reply Axel who sits casually on the seat of the HD motorcycle.
"You're serious?" Ask Akane again.
"Seriously. Now go back to sleep." Reply Axel.
"Thank you. I'll repay your kindness next time. Hoahhm! I'm really sleepy."
After saying that, Akane immediately fell asleep again. Leaving Axel alone.
Amidst the loneliness, Axel saw a pack of cigarettes lying on the street. Reminds him of James who likes to smoke.
Axel picked up the pack of cigarettes and took one. Use it with its electrical capabilities.
'Bzztt! Bzztt!'
A small amount of electricity appeared between his thumb and index finger. Burn the end of the cigarette.
When Axel tries to suck it....
"Uhuk! Kuugh! A kuugghh! Damn, what the fuck? You said this was delicious?" Axel said as he coughed. He had never tried smoking before.
It was only because there was no more of this activity that he decided to try it.
Where Axel could not smoke cigarettes at all and continued coughing.
Not long after, Axel threw the cigarette as far as possible. But keep the cigarette packs.
'I think I'll bring the rest of these cigarettes to James.' Think Axel.
Recalling the figure of James, Axel also remembered over Eva.
His senior who first invited him to join into this madness. He was forced to join the Liberator.
A faint smile was seen on Axel's face when recalling the silver-haired woman.
"Eva.... I hope you're okay there." Said Axel who now began to lie on the motorcycle seat. Enjoy the solitude of the night.

Her morning....
Akane woke up shortly after the sun began to rise with a blanket wrapped around her body.
He was a little surprised because there should be no blanket when he slept.
When looking around, Akane saw the figure of Axel who was still cooking by utilizing several pots and bonfires.
"Axel?" Ask Akane.
Axel who immediately understood what he meant immediately replied.
"Just calm. I found a small truck carrying a load of groceries a few kilometers ahead. I don't think there's any harm in using it. Besides, I'm tired of half-dead watching all night." Reply Axel.
Akane now noticed a pile of food and drink cans beside Axel.
"Including this blanket?" Ask Akane.
"Yes, I found it in the driver's seat." Reply Axel briefly.
"Thank you...."
Akane was starting to hesitate a bit. About his intention to take Axel by force. Given how good Axel's attitude was to her.
Might....
If he could persuade Axel to understand the intent of his side....
He should not take any rough steps in the future.
"Come and eat. I found meat and pea soup. One of my favorites." Axel said as he waved his right hand towards Akane.
Slowly, Akane started to move. And finally, sit next to the young man. Enjoy breakfast in the morning.
