Chapter 62 - Survivors

'Sruugg! Oruugg!'

The sound of footsteps could be heard around the ruins of this city. Dragging some gravel and debris from the building below.

Little by little, the footsteps drew closer. It was none other than Axel.

"Axel, are you okay?" Eva asked who saw Axel's arrival.

"A little wound, but no problem. More importantly, what about her?" Axel asked while watching the figure of the girl in Eva's arms.

The girl closed her eyes. Making Axel worry if it was possible, the girl would die from bleeding that was too severe.

"He just fainted, but it seems like it's getting better." Reply Eva briefly.

On the girl's left arm, Eva appears to fasten a rope from the cloth tightly. Preventing blood from coming out of the severed arm.

Noticing the girl was unconscious, with various vital signs so weak, Axel decided to immediately bring her back to the headquarters.

Maybe Frans and Leona can cure him.

"What about them?" Eva asked once more while standing up from her seat.

Those in question were of course the hunters who had previously been seen chasing this girl.

"I've cleared them. Can you keep this a secret for me? I'm afraid that the people at headquarters will start looking at me in a different way if they find out about this." Axel.

Of course, his worry was real.

That's because Axel just killed another human. The person who should be protected by Liberators.

"I'm sorry, but I found a survivor in this place. Little girl, maybe 12. And he's hurt pretty bad." Axel.

The oracle was silent.

He could no longer answer if that was the truth.

"Little girl? How bad is the wound?" Ask the Oracle worried.

"He lost his left arm. Also some wounds in ba...."

Before Axel finished his words, he saw something strange on the girl's body. The bullet wounds on his body began to fade. Little by little it began to regenerate and return to how it was.

It was as if the shot had never hit his body.

All that was left, was the tattered clothes from receiving many attacks.

"Axel's? You there?" The Oracle asked once again as Axel was silent for a while.

"Aah, yeah. In essence, he was injured quite badly but was still able to survive. So I'm going back to the base to ask for treatment of her." Reply Axel.

"understandable. I'll set up one operating room and a few doctors for you."

After everything was sorted out, Axel returned to the main topic. He has an unanswered question.

"By the way, what about the Chimera? Where's she? I didn't find him at all? Does he have invisibility or something?" Axel asked curiously.

The Oracle sounded quite confused to answer Axel's question. In fact, it's a simple question.

That's where the Chimera is now.

"Hello?" Axel asked again because the answer never came.

Beside her, Eva also listened to the conversation between Axel and Oracle through her own communication channel. Meanwhile, both of his hands were seen holding the figure of the girl.

The two of them continued to leisurely walk through the ruins of this city.

Of course, this communication channel only includes Axel and Eva squads only. No one else could listen to this conversation but the Oracle.

After a moment of silence, the Oracle spoke again.

"Actually.... The chimera disappeared a few minutes ago. The detected Flux glow seemed to just vanish. It's really a nonsensical thing." Obviously Oracle.

Axel who listened to that explanation started to worry.

What if the Chimera was hiding behind the ruins of a building. Suppressing their existence to a minimum. To ambush Axel and Eva?

But no matter how much Axel tried to sense the Chimera's existence, he couldn't find it.

Until finally, Axel gave up and decided to just focus on his current job.

That's taking this girl back to headquarters for treatment.

"Alright, then I'll close this call again. Thanks, Oracle. We'll be careful." Reply Axel.

"Wait on! Don't ma...."

Once again, before Oracle could finish her words, Axel and Eva had turned off the communication earphones.

And both of them, walked with great caution until they arrived at the headquarters. Constantly assume that the Chimera might ambush them.

After handing the girl over to the medical, several doctors and nurses treated her body immediately.
