More Ready Than Thought

As Jean was busy pouring her plan on the sheet of paper, the door to her study was knocked by someone. Jean simply told the man outside to enter without turning him to his eyes from his paper and quill.

"I'm sorry for my impoliteness, Mr. Jean."

Mar walks into Jean's study standing in front of her. As she writes, Jean signals her to sit down.

The night wind blew into his room, occasionally swinging the flame of the candle. I don't know why the atmosphere here is a little.

"Okay, I'm done. So, Mar, is there anything you want to say?"

Mar nodded.

"Our goal almost worked. The merchants decided to no longer support the nobles as long as they were still required to pay compensation. If in the last forum the nobles still demanded something unreasonable, they completely cut off the relationship and canceled all the contracts and agreements they had been in with their partners."

"Hehh. Good job Mar. Thanks to you, their attention, time, and energy are distracted by something stupid."

Mar had an equally large business network as Charlotte because she was the one in charge of the White Wolf's finances. He had relations with five large merchants in the kingdom of Dublin. He even knew Charlotte. And vice versa.

That's why Jean commissioned Mar to be the 'eye'. Make sure all the operations that Jean launches are going well.

"Ah, I still have something to tell you, Mr. Jean."

Mar looks thirsty. Jean smiles and gives Mar a glass of water. Mar's face flushed and accepted the glass happily and drank the contents.

"The merchants began to search and hire large numbers of mercenaries. They also recruited poor people to be part of an army. It's as if a war is about to erupt."

Huh huh? They also started to move. It seemed like the war with the kingdom of Bucharest and the kingdom of Vilnius was considered a good prospect for their future.

If the kingdom of Dublin prevailed, they would gain control of two important ports that were the transit points of traders from outside the Akkadian continent as well as the central and eastern parts of the continent.

The kingdom will also have control over the Yalta river which flows from the Ural mountains in the northern part of the Dublin kingdom and several other smaller kingdoms and dukedoms to the black sea which became one of the shipping routes that crowded.

But if it loses, the Dublin kingdom will lose it all. Reputation, authority, prestige, and others. In the worst case scenario, the defeat of the Dublin kingdom would send a signal to other kingdoms that this kingdom is a weak kingdom and vulnerable to attack.

"Tu..."

"Sir..."

"Mr Jean.... Is there a problem!?"

Jean woke up from her daydream. He turned his head towards Mar who was looking at him with a worried look on his face. Jean smiled slightly and shook her head.

"none. Thanks for the news, Mar."

"Mar, in three months, the kingdom of Dublin will declare war on the kingdom of Bucharest and the kingdom of Vilnius in the south. The White Wolf also had to make preparations."

Jean had decided to take action separate from the nobles, the royal family, and other great merchants. He'll talk to Charlotte about this.

Mar was surprised by what Jean said. But come to think of it, when he saw the acts of the merchants, they were actually preparing for war.

Mar decides to coordinate with Nina later. Mar will take care of all the needs of the group members who will participate in the war such as rations, combat equipment, horses, and others while Nina will take care of the training of the members.

Jean smiles at Mar who is designing his idea. As usual, he was quick.

Jean continues her activities when Mar has gone to meet Nina. He continued to devise various plans and scenarios on the sheet until the sun rose from the east.

"A-a-what the fuck is this all!?"

Charlotte and Jean are stunned when they go to the cellar in their home.

It all started when Jean wanted to talk about a war that would most likely take place in the next three months.

Charlotte found out about it thanks to a diary left by uncle Hull. Incidentally, he also wanted to talk about what kind of actions they should take.

After a long discussion, the two decided not to sponsor a single noble or join the merchant alliance. Both will form and fund their own armies and needs.

Then another problem arises. How many people can they recruit? How is the funding scheme? How many armor suits, swords, spears, arrows, and other weapons should they produce? Did they hire enough mercenaries like the others?

"Just calm down, Charl. I've prepared that. Maybe there aren't many people we can recruit, but at the very least, we can compensate for quantity with quality."

Charlotte thought for a moment. Her pretty face looked extremely adorable when she had such an expression. Jean could not help herself and pinched her cheek. It makes Charlotte feel so ashamed.

"Uuuu! Don't bother me when you think!"

Charlotte kept thinking. And no matter which demon luck came, the wind blew into their room and shifted the page sheets in Uncle Hull's diary. On the page, it was written that she had prepared something for Charlotte and Jean.

How shocked they were when they saw the cellar. Arms and armor lines met more than 300 neatly arranged there.

"It looks like we're better prepared than we think, huh, Jean."

Charlotte and Jean are confused about having to laugh or cry.
