Jeanne and Hanna drove the horse quickly. Riding a horse inside a city at high speed is dangerous. But both are not amateurs. They skillfully chose a path that was not so crowded. Even if there is an obstacle, they must have passed through it reliably.
The city of Krakov was the capital of the kingdom of Warsaw, the country that is now home to Jeanne and Svetlana. Although not as advanced as the cities in eastern Akkad, the city itself is still more advanced when compared to those in the western part. Moreover, the gap is quite far.
The Kingdom of Warsaw was one of the dominating kingdoms in the central part of Akkad. Its total area is three times larger than that of Dublin, the kingdom of Bucharest, and the Principality of Eisen if they are united. Its population is the third largest in the central part of the Akkadian continent. So too with their military and economic capabilities.
Hanna and Jeanne arrive at the Knight's headquarters. The two got off their respective horses and quickly walked towards the room where they used to gather. Once there, nine people had already gathered.
"Welcome, Hanna, Jeanne. Have seat. We're gonna start the meeting now."
Hanna and Jeanne sat next to each other on an empty bench. Of the 11 people who were there, only Jeanne and Hanna were women. The rest are men. There is no doubt that they are flowers in the middle of a barren desert.
"Ehem! All right, we'll start now."
The leader of the meeting was a man who was approximately 55 years old. Although old enough for a knight, his ability to sword and manage his subordinates made him able to maintain his position as the head of the knights of the kingdom of Warsaw.
The Knight Chief pointed to a large map stuck on a board. There's a pretty flashy red cross there.
"This place is a pirate's lair. At least that was the information provided by the royal spy. Basically, this is an abandoned fishing village."
As soon as the knight head finished speaking, one of the knight captains raised his hand. He was the same person who had accompanied Jeanne to eradicate some monsters in the forest.
"How many pirates are there?"
"Royal spies did not provide accurate information regarding their numbers. However, this was just a rough estimate alone, their numbers might be in the numbers of 300 to 400 people."
The man who asked smiled haughtily. He leaned his back against the chair he was sitting on while slightly snorting.
The other Knight Captain looked quite upset by his behavior. So does the chief knight. Only Jeanne remained with her poker face expression.
"You underestimate them too much, Simon. Each knight captain only commanded at most 100 knights. No matter how great you are, you're still outnumbered."
The chief knight did not hide his annoyance at the man Szymon's real name. Szymon came from one of the leading Count-ranked nobles in the kingdom of Warsaw. Krzys. Their families had given birth to many outstanding knights and warriors. As a result, they had a strong influence on the military body of the kingdom of Warsaw.
"Not really. The pirates may be the masters of the sea. But on land, they're much lower than we are. Whether it was their dignity or fighting ability. There's nothing to worry about."
That's his opinion. The logic he uses is simple. They were only trained to fight at sea. Not on land. They were also undisciplined and did not have the ethical values of a knight. In a one-on-one fight, Syzmon was 100 percent sure that he and his men would win.
While Szymon was bragging about his abilities, his knight head only sighed and patted his forehead with his palm.
"You're probably right about one-on-one. But I'm not sure about the rest. They have knowledge of the area around them. That means once they realize your presence, the pirates can ambush you from anywhere.
"In addition, it's not about one-on-one combat. The pirates had no ethics and knowledge of how a knight should fight. They'll use every means to win."
In response to what the Knight chief had said, Syzmon only snorted in annoyance. His efforts to add to his personal achievements failed. The head that saw this only shook its head. Ambition without reason is dangerous.
"All right, let's move on. Hanna and Jeanne, I'm assigning you and Simon to look into this. If indeed the information provided is correct, kill those pirates."
Hanna and Jeanne nodded at the same time. The Knight Chief nodded in satisfaction. He then discussed some other technicalities. According to his words, it took 10-14 days to reach the intended point. Jeanne and Hanna are ordered to prepare enough supplies while Szymon, the head of the Knights, does not have any duties for her.
Three days later, Jeanne, Hanna, and Szymon along with 300 other knights set out for the pirate base (?)
