In The Small Town

The carts they were riding on shook to the right and left. Up and down. Jean calmly sits between the two twin girls she finds while stopping by in a poor village. His name is Elyse and Elsie. Now, they're both sleeping. Jean placed their heads on her thighs, letting the two sleep comfortably.

Jean does have a map but the picture is bad. Fortunately, he met a merchant caravan that crossed the outskirts of the forest. Jean pays them so that he and the twins are allowed to hitchhike until the caravan's final destination, the capital of the Warsaw kingdom of Krakov.

According to the coachman driving the horse-drawn carriage, the journey would take ten days from Jean's departure point. That is if everything is good. Sometimes, caravan groups will stop first in a small town to rest or repair damaged parts of the cart.

While staying in a town, Jean goes down to buy the twins. They are not fussy and demanding children. Instead, Elyse and Elsie were obedient children.

Elyse and Elsie are quiet kids. They do not cry easily. At first glance it is not troublesome, but believe me, taking care of them is actually enough to make him dizzy.

What's the problem? Both are not easy to be honest. Elyse and Elsie obviously wanted something, but they never said it clearly. Jean can still read their desires through their eyes, heart rate, pulse, body gestures, and facial features.

But what if both are taken care of by others? Jean didn't even want to imagine what kind of treatment Elyse and Elsie would get. Come on, who would have the heart to treat these two adorable children so harshly?

The wagon that had been shaking, now stopped. The coachman lowered his head inside and told Jean that the caravan would stop by for a while in a nearby town.

This is the closest city to Krakov. About three days of travel. From this city to Krakov, there will be no more places to visit. Therefore, this was their chance to recharge the supplies.

Gently, Jean stroked the hair of Elyse and Elsie who were asleep. In order not to shock them, Jean touched their forehead and sent a little of her energy to them.

"Elyse, Elsie, wake up. Let's go get some food for you. Hungry right?"

Elyse and Elsie wake up. There was a sense of warmth flowing from their foreheads all over the body. That warm feeling is what makes both of them sober up.

"Come down with me. We will find food and buy your necessities. Ah, we will also stay at an inn, so you no longer need to sleep with a tent. Come on."

Elyse and Elsie just nodded without saying anything. Both look flat, but Jean easily finds out that they are in a good mood. Therefore, Jean did not refrain from holding the two and taking them around the city.

Elsie who was being carried by Jean tightened her grip. He implanted his face into Jean's chest. Elyse. Even so, she was not as clumsy as her sister. He looked at the surrounding scenery with a curious expression.

"Anooo... Brother Jean. Is the city always crowded like this?"

Jean smiled at Elyse and nodded. He asked the two to call himself 'brother' instead of master. He didn't particularly like the out-of-place formality.

"Depending on where the city is located, it is usually crowded like this. Moreover, this city is close to the center of Warsaw kingdom. It is only natural that many. Look, there's a lot of horse-drawn carriages and carts passing by, right?"

Elyse nodded with an enthusiastic look. It's cute! Elyse and Elsie raise Jean in the twins Dina and Lina, Selena's twin sister. He spends a lot of time playing with them. But since Cassie decided to isolate herself after the death of Hull's uncle, Dina and Lina who became his personal maid along with Cassie.

"Hmmm..... You want to eat something, Elyse, Elsie?"

Both shakes. While gripping the clothes that Jean was wearing, Elsie cutely asked Jean for something.

"I wanted.... The food that Jean made. Didn't..... Can you?"

Jean chuckles at Elsie's selfish request. Although quiet, Elsie is a girl who is a little frank when compared to Elyse. Although both have the same nature, on the other hand there are opposite properties.

"Well, I'll cook you two a meal. But before that, let's find a place to stay for the two of you first, okay?"

Jean found an inn at a fairly cheap price. Although cheap, this place is more than enough to be considered worthy as a temporary residence. There were two large mattresses side by side and a small table located between them.

Although not so big, the size of this room is still arguably relieved.

Jean cooks a meal for Elyse and Elsie as she promised. Today nothing big happened, but Jean really enjoyed the moment. So do the twins who regard Jean as their brother and savior.
