The Mother and Daughter

Meanwhile, in one of the kingdoms in the central part of the Akkadian continent.

A white-haired girl spurred on her horse quickly. His expression remained cold, yet his eyes were describing something that could not be written in words.

It was Jeanne. Although she used to be quite a spoiled girl, now she has become a strong and independent woman. Something that no other woman in her day had.

He rode his mount smartly. Whether it was in the forest or the city, Jeanne had absolutely no need to reduce her speed. This girl skillfully passed through the obstacles that were in front of her.

Jeanne's goal was a simple yet sizable house on the outskirts of town. As soon as he got there, he got off his horse, tied it up in the stable, and ran into the house.

This time his expression completely changed. No more cold and stiff stares. His mouth is no longer flat. As soon as Jeanne stepped into the house, a beautiful smile adorned her lips. His eyes were cold, now warm and friendly.

Of course, because the one he met was the most valuable person to him. The one who always stands by his side when he is fragile. His own mother, Svetlana.

"Mama, I'm home!!"

"Baby, Jeanne. Welcome aboard! Glad to see you're okay."

Jeanne and Svetlana embrace each other. Both of them live in this place alone. Svetlana decided not to hire any servants. He will take care of all the household needs.

Svetlana is a tough woman. So did Jeanne. They both rely on each other, without having to rely on anyone for their needs. Therefore, both are independent women.

"How's your job, honey? It must be tiring to be in the royal Knight squad with a lot of people you don't like. Come here, let mama spoil you."

"Unnn! All righty! Thanks mama!"

Jeanne happily settles down on the couch where Svetlana sits and puts her head on her mother's lap. Gently, Svetlana stroked the princess's hair. Jeanne and Svetlana really enjoyed this moment.

However, Svetlana's expression changed afterwards. He's getting more serious. While still stroking Jean's hair, she began to open her mouth.

"Yes? What's up, mama?"

Svetlana sighed for a moment. He doesn't want to talk about this. Very reluctant. But for the future of his son, he had to do it.

"You know, honey, you don't actually have to live with your mom anymore. You've been an amazing girl. You've turned into a great and tough woman.

"It's time to focus on your own future, baby. With your current abilities, it would be easier to become a knight commander in the royal palace than to live in a simple place like this. After all...this is the time for you to be proposed by a man right?"

At once, Svetlana felt her hand, which was stroking her daughter, being gripped. It was not enough to make him feel pain. Either way, she's still stronger than Jeanne. But still, he was surprised.

"Mama! Please don't say that again! Didn't I tell you that I will never leave you!? Whatever happens, whatever they offer, if it means I have to leave mom, I will never let that happen!!"

Svetlana. He felt anger from his daughter. Jeanne also realized that she had been rude to her mother, and that made her cry.

Ever since she and her mother were kidnapped by bandits and were about to be sold, it was Svetlana who kept herself alive. The reason why she had been unable to escape her mother all this time was simply because Svetlana was the only reason to stay alive. At least now.

Svetlana realized that and she was happy about it. But it was time for Jeanne to live thinking about her own future. Although it was painful to part with her child, she realized that it was the consequences of being a mother.

Svetlana hugged Jeanne again. For his daughter, he would do anything. Even if the whole world is hostile towards her daughter, then Svetlana will be on her side.

In the midst of it, suddenly his mind was distracted with a memory that he stored deeply. He also has a son. Although not a real child, he loved her very much. His love is not inferior to the love Svetlana gave Jeanne.

From the bottom of his heart, he hoped that his son would come to save both of them.

'Jean, I hope you're okay there.'
