A Mother's Hope

"What should I do now?"

Jean sat down leaning against a tree that was firmly planted near the base of the pirates. His breath is very calm. His eyes looked at the sun that was slowly rising from the eastern horizon.

Jean imagined the scenery if this place was still a fishing village. The men must be anchoring to lower their catch. Children will be happy to play around the beach or help their father. The women will help with cooking or fixing the broken mesh.

Jean took a bottle of water and downed the contents. As soon as it ran out, he immediately threw it into any place and leaned back again. Cold air this morning. He wants to sleep for a while. But it doesn't seem to be able to. Jean doesn't have much time for that.

Jean stood welcome patting her pants full of sand. Before him, 300 corpses were slapped just like that, which slowly began to rot. Jean smiled wryly. This was his job last night.

The condition of the body is quite tragic. Most of them were cut off. There was a whole body that was destroyed and left the head alone. There were also her limbs scattered.

Jean did a little stretching to relax her stiff body. After making some moves, he decided to go pick up his luggage which was taken by the pirates.

Thankfully, everything is safe. None of it was used. Moreover, he carried his precious dagger. The dagger he snatched from monsters in other realms. He had never used a weapon on a human before. He was actually intending to test his dagger into these pirates. But they're dead first.

"I don't think I need to bury them. It feels like crows would love to make these corpses their food."

Disease or whatever will come from here. But hey, that's none of Jean's business. He wouldn't have done any of this if he hadn't been taken to this place.

Jean decided to leave this place by noon. After he took the map and filled the supplies. He didn't take too much. Especially money. It would be troublesome to himself considering he was carrying quite a lot of money from his house.

From now on, Jean's adventures in Central Akkadian really begin.

Meanwhile at the residence of Svetlana and Jeanne.

So did Jeanne. He is not as strong as Svetlana, but he still has plenty of room to develop. Jeanne is a talented girl. It absorbs all new knowledge like a sponge. Including in the fight.

"Lumayan! You're getting stronger Jeanne!"

"Thank you mama!"

The fight ended after Jeanne slashed her fist into Svetlana's stomach while Svetlana delivered her punch to Jeanne's chest. Both fell down and laughed.

"In the near future, you might beat your mama easily, Jeanne. Mama's happy to see you've grown."

Hearing Svetlana's praise, Jeanne smiled. Her face flushed. One of the happiest moments for her was when Svetlana admitted it.

"Thank you.... It's all thanks to mom. Without you, I might have been destroyed long ago. Again, thank you, Mama."

Svetlana smiled and stroked her daughter's head. He imagines that if Jean and Nicholai are here too, they will be happy. Especially if Jean was here, surely Jeanne would put on an arrogant face on him.

Secretly, Svetlana shook her head. He imagines too much. Nicholai is no more. She obviously could not hope that her husband would come back to life, accompanying her for the rest of her life.

As for Jean, he believed in her. Svetlana wholeheartedly believed that she could survive. With intelligence far beyond her and Jeanne, she must have achieved something they could not.

Deep in his heart he hoped Jean would come to them. With her warm and cheerful nature, she will be the cure for the lonely Svetlana and Jeanne. But it was just a pipe dream. Svetlana won't burden Jean. Despite the fact that Jean was not her biological child, she loved Jean with a mother's love for her child.

Unconsciously, he shed tears. Jeanne who saw this felt like her heart had been pierced. Sangar.
