Islamic Exemplary Stories
Humility of the Prophet.

Kisra –sebutan for the kings of Persia - has a unique custom when meeting with the people even his officials. He made a distance, a distance that confirmed that I was the ruler and besides me was an ordinary person. The distance that shows him is that I am the master while you are the servant or subordinate. Even Kisra made himself God.

The first line, the people closest to Kisra were the shamans and royal magicians, as well as the emirs and ministers. When they met the king, they were obliged to stand at least 5 meters from the Persian Kisra. Then only the people after those whose distance is not less than 10 meters.

The Persians stuffed their mouths with white cloths as they entered the hall of the Kisra. So that the majesty of the royal space is not polluted with their breaths.

The Humble Envoy of the Universe

While in the middle of the Arabian Peninsula, there was a man who was far away from the height of his glory than this Persian king, welcoming man with humility. He is the Prophet Muhammad.

The Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ found the general public, shone at their hands. He did not let go of his hands until the people first broke their hands. He did so even with an Arab village (Arab Bedouin). He did not turn on his face, until people first turned their eyes. He does not extend his legs while sitting together. Thus said Anas bin Malik, as narrated by at-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.

From Anas bin Malik radhiallahu ‘anhu, he said,

“There was a daughter in Medina City, she reached the hand of the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ , then took her (interesting) wherever she wanted.” (Sr. al-Bukhari 5724).

Lesson for us, do not let the child alone grab our hands and then pull it in the direction he wants, but we even scold him.

World King Defines the World

One day, Umar bin al-Khattab cried, pitying to see his condition. Umar found the messenger of the Lord of the universe awake and mats tasting on his body. The Messenger of Allah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Why are you crying, O Umar?“

“How could I not weep, Kisra and the Emperor sat on a throne of gold,” while this mat has made a mark on your body, O Messenger of Allah. And thou art His beloved, ” answered Umar.

The Messenger of Allah ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Then comforted Umar, he said: “They are a people whose pleasure has been hastened now, and soon will be gone, will you not be willing to have the world while we have the Hereafter.?”

Then he ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ He continued, “We are the people who postpone our pleasure for the last day. The parable of my relationship with the world is like one traveling under the heat. He took shelter for a moment under a tree, then left it”.

Friendly to Small Children

In Medina, there was a little boy who chewed Abu Umair. The child has an animal looking at a bird. He likes to play with his pet bird. One day, the bird died, and the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ greeted and comforted him. From Anas ibn Malik, he said,

“Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ 「Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ came to see Umm Sulaim who had a son who was chewed by Abu Umair. The Prophet loved to treat him. One day, he saw Abu Umair grieving. Then he ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ , asked,

Then he greeted her to comfort the child who had lost this toy,

“Abu Umair, what's your little bird doing?” (Sr. al-Bukhari 5850).

Of course not imagined in our minds, the Emperor (king of the Romans) and Kisra do the same thing.

Doing Homework

From Aisha, he was asked what the Prophet did ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ at home. Aisyah radhiallahu ‘anha replied, “She sewed her own clothes, fixed her joints, and did everything (like) the husbands did inside the house.” (CHR. Ahmed 23756).

Getting Together With the Village People

Some people are sometimes embarrassed if there are plain villagers, who may look old-fashioned, want to be close friends with them. Our televisions suggest how slang children, shy to be friends with a geeky look. It was witnessed by children, so they imitate. Of course this is dangerous if not responded by parents with adab education and noble morals. When parents are able to display the example of the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ , a high-ranking figure in society, will be friends with ordinary people, of course, it will cause a different impression on children.

From Anas bin Malik: ‘Normally there was a villager (Arab Bedouin) named Zahir, he always gave various gifts from the village to the Prophet. If the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ is going to come out, he prepares his supplies. Then he said: ‘Truly Zahir is our village (he means ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ The Bedouin can learn from him as the Bedouin benefit from the Sahara) and we are his city (which opens the doors of Madinah wide for his presence, this is one of the proofs of good association).

The Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ loves him, he is an ugly (not handsome) yet kind-hearted man. One day the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ came to him while he was selling his goods, and he grabbed him from behind, while he could not see him. He exclaimed: ‘Who is this? Let go of me!’ Then he looked back and he knew it was the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ . P. When he found out, he kept his back closed to make contact with the chest of the Prophet. Then the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ cried, ‘Who wants to buy this dangerous servant?’ Zahir replied, ‘O Prophet, then by Allah, you will find me (sold) very cheap.’ Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Superficial, ‘But, by Allah's side you are not cheap.’ or ‘In Allah's side you are very expensive.’ (CHR. Ahmad 12669).

Look how he ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ joking with his friends. His friendship was not based on physical appearance, material wealth, but he based his friendship on obedience.

We all know that the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ is the noblest man ever and forever. There are kings, leaders of state and state officials, the rich, none of whom surpasses his position. And they are not worthy of him. But behold, how humble is he in his company. In his social life.

And we take refuge in Allah 『Hittley, we who have no office and position, to be arrogant and belittling to others.

Allahumma shalli ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhammad…
