The Dialogue of God and Satan concerning the abode.

One of his companions, Ansa ibn Malik r.a. said: "The devil of the curse has asked Allah s.w.t.among them are:- 

       The Devil said to God: "My Lord, You have given to the son of Adam the dwelling place of a house to think to You. Show me my place." 

       The Word of God s.w.t. means: "O Satan your dwelling place is in the water-room (rubber)." 

       The devil said: "My Lord, you have given to the son of Adam the place where they are gathered (mosque, surau). Where are the places where I gather?" 

       Allah's Word s.w.t. means: "O Satan the place for you to gather is in the markets (in the shopping centers, the parties, the nightclubs, the magistrates' councils, entertainment and so on)." 

       Satan said: "My Lord, you have given the children of Adam a book for them to read (The Quran). Show me what my reading material is?" 

Word of God s.w.t. means: "O Devil, your reading material is Verse (a rhyme and one concerned with it)." 

       The Devil said: "My Lord, you have given them stories (right words), what are stories to me?" 

       Word of God s.w.t.: "O Devil, the story for you is a lie (a lie and a related one)." 

       The Devil said: "My Lord, you have given the punishment to the son of Adam to invite people to come (assembling people to pray in congregation). Is my azan (to gather people)." 

       Word of God: "O Satan, for you is the flute." 

       The Devil said: "My Lord, you have sent your messengers (the prophets and the Apostles) to the children of Adam. Who will be my messenger." 

       The Devil said: "My Lord, you have given the written book (the Quran) to the children of Adam. Is it writing to me?" 

Word of God s.w.t.: "O Devil, your writing is a false lipstick on the body (like paintings in the arms, moles made up and more or less the same)." 

       The devil said: "My Lord, you have given to the children of Adam traps. Is it a trap for me." 

       The Word of God s.w.t.: "O Satan, the trap for you is women." 

       The Devil said: "My Lord, You have given food (mentioned by Your name) to the children of Adam. Is it food for me?" 

       Word of God: "O Satan, food for you is something that is not called the name of God." 

       The Devil said: "My Lord, you have given drink (a drink that is lawful and that is always started with bismillah) to the children of Adam. Is it a drink for me?" 

       Word of God: "O Devil, drink for you is intoxicating (like wine, which is more or less the same as it and drink which does not begin with bismillah)." 

Ibn Mas'ud r.a. said: "If a person eats without reading bismillah, then the devil will eat with him. If a person eats and starts with bismillah, then the devil will not be able to eat together, even the devil will spit out what he has eaten." 

       Ibrahim Annakhaai said: "If a man enters his house and salutes it, the devil will say: "There is no place for me here." And if a man wants to eat or drink and starts with bismillah, the devil will say: "There is no place and there is no food and drink for me here." Satan will come out disappointed."
