"You wait here, okay?"
Tian was about to get out of the car, but I held him back. "Why?"
"I'm coming, Mas."
Tian smiled, "Cheery will definitely be happy to see you're here, pick him up."
"Hit ..." My head nodded. "I miss Cheery, too, Mas."
Then we both decided to get out of the car. Initially wanted to surprise Cheery by picking him up after school, but when he was about to walk to the gate, suddenly the steps of the two of us stopped as Cheery walked out from inside the school building along with a woman.
"Dance!" mummify slowly.
While Tian was just staring intently ahead. His jaw was hardened and both of his hands were clenched tightly at the side.
I saw that little face look so cheerful when her tiny hand was held by Tari. They also look so close when laughing loosely together like that.
The pitying Tian wanted to approach him, but I prevented it.
"Mas, control your emotions."
I saw her sharp eyes slowly fade away as she looked at me. I shook my head softly, pleading through the eyes so Tian could control his emotions in front of Cheery. Luckily, Tian was willing to comply.
"Papa ....!" The little boy shouted as he realized our whereabouts. Cheery ran cheerfully as he spread out his hands.
Tian crouched down, ready to welcome the arrival of his little princess.
"Papa's pick me up?" Her great-granddaughter was anxious as she was already sitting on Tian's lap.
"Dear, Papa and Aunt Naya will pick you up." Tian glanced at me.
The little boy looked at me, his lips perfectly widened. "Asik ... Aunt Naya pick up Cheery."
I crouched down next to Tian as Cheery came down from his Papa's lap. "Tante kangen is very much with you." I kissed the cheek of the gibbilnya many times. Makes Cheery laugh out of sheer piquancy.
"Cheery's the same miss, Auntie." The little boy hugged me tightly.
Tian only watched us while commenting on a wide smile.
Without me noticing, it turned out that the closeness of the three of us made someone standing there look at us with teary eyes. I looked at Dari pity, while Tian remained cold and disregarded her whereabouts altogether.
"Oh yes, Pa. .. I met the aunt." She pointed at Dance. "Say ..." Cheery glanced timidly at Dance and Tian alternately. "He-he's my mama. Is Aunt really my mom, Pa?" Ask with such an innocent look.
At once Tian turned his head, staring at the windy Dari who started walking over.
"Mas .. I---!" Dance back to clench the jaw that was previously about to open.
"Darling, you and Aunt Naya got in the car first, huh?" Crop Tian.
"Where are you going?"
"Papa's gonna need a minute." Tian smashed the tip of Cheery's head in agitation.
"Nay, please bring Cheery."
My head nodded, "Mas .. don't get emotional." My whisper.
"Yes, baby."
This time I could not hide the red hue on my face. Embarrassed? of course, because now it was not only Cheery who was looking at me in surprise, but also Dance who seemed to be surprised by Tian's sweet treatment towards me. Before entering the car, Cheery and I said goodbye to Dance even though Tian himself did not like her.
"Tante, is it true Aunt Dance is my Mama?"
Cheery's question made me turn my attention to two pairs of humans who seemed to be arguing there. I turned my head, staring anxiously at Cheery who was sitting beside me.
When asked, his round eyes were only focused on the phone he was holding. Apparently the boy was watching one of his favorite cartoon movies.
"Later, Cheery himself asked Papa, huh?"
Cheery briefly glanced at me briefly before then his eyes returned to staring at the phone screen. Not forgetting his face.
I smiled as I rubbed his head gently. Seeing Cheery bend his face like that made my heart grimace. I know how Cheery is feeling right now, should a kid like Cheery still get more affection and attention from both parents. However, due to the mistakes and selfishness of Tian and Tari made Cheery not have it all.
******
Being in the car, somehow the atmosphere suddenly became quiet like this. Tian became silent with an angry look after his encounter with Dance a few minutes ago. While Cheery, somehow the boy was like his father who was no longer chatty as usual. His eyes were still fixed on the phone playing his favorite cartoon movie.
Wanted to ask, but I didn't dare to feel it wasn't my business. I'll just wait for Tian to speak. Until the moment the car entered his yard Tian did not say much.
As soon as the door of the house opened, the first thing I saw was the shock from Mama Maya followed by a smile rising from her lips. He welcomed me, hugged me until I returned his embrace.
"Why didn't you tell me that Naya wanted to go home, Tian?" Mama Maya protested to her son.
"I want to give a surprise to Mama." He answered casually while sitting on the sofa together with me who was following sat beside him.
"So, Aunt Naya and Papa picked me up for school, Grandma." Chirp Cheery.
"O .. yes!" Excitement splashy. Then looked at me and Tian in turn. "What's wrong?" Ask my ex-Mama-in-law full of questions. "What news do you want to tell me?"
Tian smiled, while I only lowered my head as Tian looked at me and nodded his head, the man was like asking me for permission.
"Yes, Ma. There's something I want to talk to Mama and Papa about."
"About?" Ask Mama Maya getting curious.
"Let's go, Ma. After we have dinner. Wait for Papa to come home."
"All right." Answer with a long breath. "Hopefully the good news you want to tell."
"Mas ... What do you want to talk to Mama about?" My whisper.
"You will know."
"What?"
"Our wedding."
"What?" My cry was startled, making Mama Maya and Cheery look at me.
"Why, Naya?" Ask Mama Maya.
"No papa, Ma." I answered while smiling stiffly.
"Why so fast? I haven't decided to remarry with you yet, Mom."
"That was my decision. Just shut up, wait for me to propose to you back to Mom." It was his whisper again that made me glance cynically while snorting in annoyance.
After chatting for a while, I decided to join in helping Cheery change clothes together with Tian. As we climbed a few steps, Cheery again chattered on Tian's sling. However, for some reason when Cheery asked back about Dance, Tian's steps stopped instantly. It seemed like Tian was thinking of something to answer the question from Cheery.
"Pa, is Aunt Dance Mama Cheery?" Again, Cheery again asked the same question when Tian just kept quiet.
Until he reached the room, Tian lowered Cheery from the sling and placed Cheery on his bed. The man crouched down below, looking at Cheery seriously, making Cheery look down timidly. I, who was standing behind him, decided to sit next to Cheery. Hugged the tiny body from the side.
"Cheery, do you want Papa to talk?"
The tiny head nodded.
"See Papa, honey?" He said but in a soft tone.
Cheery looked up, looking at Tian now. Tian took a breath first before then he gave Cheery an explanation. Perhaps, at his age now it will be very difficult for Cheery to understand what his father said. But even so, Tian slowly continued to explain to Cheery. Tian was telling the truth. Tian also confirmed that Dance is his mother, the woman is his mother. Mother who gave birth to Cheery in this world.
"Cheery likes Aunt Naya?"
Cheery looked at me, then his head nodded.
"Cheery dear Aunt Naya?"
"Yes, Pa." Her great-grandchild.
"Cheery used to say to Papa, if Cheery wants Aunt Naya to be Cheery's Mama, right?"
Again, the tiny head nodded.
"Now Aunt Naya wants to be Cheery's Mama, how? Cheery wants Aunt Naya to be Cheery's mom?"
Cheery looked at me and Tian alternately before then his head shook slowly.
Surprised?
Of course, I was very surprised when the tiny head shook its head. With Tian. He just kept quiet and did not respond when Cheery asked him to bring Dance back.
